I live in east texas
worked pipeline for 4 years after getting out of highschool, in the hills of west virgina and pennsylvannia my home state. Some of the hardest pipelining a man can do is out in these hills and mountain sides only flat lands are farms fields and hogbacks. that being said pipelining was never hard as long as you looked at it like i have ITS A FREE GYM MEMBERSHIP!! "YOU WALK ALOT AND I MEAN ALOT" ive worked as a welder helper on front end to laboering front end all they way back to pulling sock on final restoration. anyone looking to get into pipeline its gravy work. the thing i see in pipeline is almost anyone can come out and make a hand but you have to know the next step in each process and think on your feet on what the next task will be and get that in the works!
Im going to a job fair in Midland this Feb 22nd, have you heard of anyone finding pipeline work at those job fairs? Im 40 years old but in excellent shape, no kids or wife to worry about. Just ready to work hard as much as possible
I work the pipeline and the oil fields. Too much time away from home cold water fisherman now working 18weeks.156k and have the rest of the year to do something else

Great video, my wife and I are at work out here in west tx around Pecos on the rig as service hands. We are on day 94. We get people all the time asking about working out here and from my 20 years experience all those people are just curious but will never get up and head this way. The only person that ever did was my wife and I wouldn’t do this without her here as my night hand. My advise to anyone coming out here is Save your money, dont finance anything, get the crappy truck to start with and buy the next more decent one cash as well. If you have a mortgage start throwing a lot into it to get it paid off fast. My wife and I drive an older murano out here but its paid for, along with our house etc. Use this influx of money to set yourself up to where if the industry crashes tomorrow (and it can) you can go be the greeter at Walmart to pay your electric. So many people come out here, start making 100k plus a year and finance the 80k truck, the 250k house, and the 40k new car for the wife and kids etc, then when the industry crashes they LOSE EVERYTHING. The cash way is harder but its the right way that’ll make your time out here actually amount to something.

Crazy the pay difference. I know this is 3 years ago but here in Montana they are paying 45 an hour just starting out with 100k yearly bonuses.
Mechanic in the oilfield first year made 120k and that’s 2 and 2. Only worked half the year. Now I’m making 170k with same schedule.
If I could do it all over again I would have bought a trailer and just traveled and saved money to buy multiple properties. I’m doing that now but it’s best to just save your money incase of layoffs. My 3rd year I bought a brand new Denali 2500 cash. You just have to be willing to get dirty and do your job.
