World's biggest mine: Inside US coal

World's biggest mine: Inside US coal

Barack Obama’s pledge to cut carbon emissions has not stopped North Antelope Rochelle mine in Wyoming. In fact, production is booming – and climate change is off the agenda. The Guardian’s Suzanne Goldenberg gets a rare look inside the biggest coal mine in the world.

The lights, microphones, and cameras operated to produce this video were probably all functioned off of coal-based electricity.

  5. Killroy on January 6, 2023 at 7:51 pm

Since this video, Coal has been on a major decline. It’s just not as economical as wind and natural gas

Funny how Obama says 97% of scientists agree and that is now the truth. Yet no one goes back to the great Al Gore predictions that did not happen. It is really clear that you must follow the party line or be canceled.

Carbon-CO2 is our friend. Without carbon dioxide all plants in the ocean and on land will die & so would all life as the food chain would be destroyed! Through out history CO2 levels have been much much higher. Compared to lithium battery production & disposal, coal is clean!

unless we can figure out how to turn the sun down, there isn’t much we can do about Global nah, solar warming. Coal can be turned into gasoline fairly easily and cheaply.

Obiden isn’t doing anything, if your worried about Coal, then look to China who has built and put on line Six Coal Burning Electrical Plants.

Nuclear plants produce maximum power more than 92% of the year – twice as much as gas and coal and three times more reliable than wind or solar with only a fraction of the pollution. This makes it the most economical and environmentally friendly source of energy. But both the coal and oil companies are multi-billion dollar industries, they won’t take outsourcing quietly.

1:34 OR SO, the climate biotch can’t even identify coal, and appears to be holding a piece of shale or dolomite. You climate communists, give it up you aholes. If you want to have less CO2 emissions, break out the free/nearly free energy discoveries, inventions, and technologies, like catalytically splitting water in a number of ways. The fact you don’t shows you’re a big bunch liars, doing what biotch pressitutes do.

  27. J V W on January 6, 2023 at 8:14 pm

I thought we were going into a coal mine. If ya don’t like coal, don’t use electricity ya jerks.

If that’s the case then why is it in Michigan it’s been way colder the last ten years.

Beautiful scenes of industry producing cheap reliable energy for America. Hope to see many more decades of operation for this site.

Reminder to you cultist environmentalists: CO2 concentrations were more than 10 times that of today when this coal was made. Plants evolved for those high CO2 conditions, it’s plant food after all. Our standard of living is directly proportional to the price of energy. Renewables are incapable of reliable and cheap energy.

  33. My Email on January 6, 2023 at 8:23 pm

Climate change is driven more by the Earth’s renewal. The north magnetic pole has moved faster than any time since the great freeze. Back to what was the climate of the dinosaurs. Hot moist and great forests and jungle. Lots of well fed lizards and the lot. The Greenies can’t stop an earthquake or a volcano. Not even stopping a cyclone or hurricane, so stop crying and learn how to make burning the forest litter be used in the fireplace for heating and cooking, no more wildfires. Use it for human betterment. Not poluting the fresh water would help greatly. Stop starving the life out of people with high energy prices and no local food.

So when foreign countries pump billions and billions of tons on CO2 into the air… The Coal industry is the scape Goat of Global Warming… Something wrong with that picture ??????? Bunch of Demorats trying to lie to everyone and so they Follow the MONEY and it ends up in their pockets.

Mr. Professor, how much is the "big brother system" paying you for your expressed views??????????

  45. Noah Casey on January 6, 2023 at 8:36 pm

So long as power companies buy coal, mines will produce it. The Mines are not the problem. The whole system is.

  46. Freddie Pick on January 6, 2023 at 8:37 pm

This is BS, I wanted to see the mine and operation thereof. Over half the electricity is produced from coal fired plants. There is no alternative to Coal, Gas, or Oil as of yet. Shutting down fossil fuels extraction and usage now is out of the question unless we all go right back to the stone ages. Uninformed and uneducated people in positions of power have us in a real heck of a mess right now. Let’s get back to common sense.
