World's biggest mine: Inside US coal

World's biggest mine: Inside US coal

Barack Obama’s pledge to cut carbon emissions has not stopped North Antelope Rochelle mine in Wyoming. In fact, production is booming – and climate change is off the agenda. The Guardian’s Suzanne Goldenberg gets a rare look inside the biggest coal mine in the world.

Climate change has been so solidly proven scientifically, that they had to remove signs from Glaciers they “proved” would melt, but never did. They have no clue what they’re talking about, so let’s get on already.

This is BS, I wanted to see the mine and operation thereof. Over half the electricity is produced from coal fired plants. There is no alternative to Coal, Gas, or Oil as of yet. Shutting down fossil fuels extraction and usage now is out of the question unless we all go right back to the stone ages. Uninformed and uneducated people in positions of power have us in a real heck of a mess right now. Let’s get back to common sense.

Since this video, Coal has been on a major decline. It’s just not as economical as wind and natural gas

  11. Andrew Fisher on October 29, 2022 at 10:32 am

But what about the CO2 captured in human solid and liquid waste from plants people ingest? Does that off set the CO2 equilibrium?

The lights, microphones, and cameras operated to produce this video were probably all functioned off of coal-based electricity.

  18. Wee White Dug on October 29, 2022 at 10:46 am

Nuclear plants produce maximum power more than 92% of the year – twice as much as gas and coal and three times more reliable than wind or solar with only a fraction of the pollution. This makes it the most economical and environmentally friendly source of energy. But both the coal and oil companies are multi-billion dollar industries, they won’t take outsourcing quietly.

Climate change is driven more by the Earth’s renewal. The north magnetic pole has moved faster than any time since the great freeze. Back to what was the climate of the dinosaurs. Hot moist and great forests and jungle. Lots of well fed lizards and the lot. The Greenies can’t stop an earthquake or a volcano. Not even stopping a cyclone or hurricane, so stop crying and learn how to make burning the forest litter be used in the fireplace for heating and cooking, no more wildfires. Use it for human betterment. Not poluting the fresh water would help greatly. Stop starving the life out of people with high energy prices and no local food.

  34. Wade Saxton on October 29, 2022 at 11:02 am

If the Climate Change claims that have been made were/are correct…. Then it’s too late. A “carbon budget” is a an arbitrary & abstract concept created as a mechanism to control energy.
The people that hate coal, oil & gas will never win the argument until they can present another viable option. So far the only way they can make their alternatives viable is to increase the costs of carbon fuels to ridiculous levels that make the “eco” energies cost competitive. However that increase in costs has a domino effect that shuts down society.

Emissions from coal is a fraction in comparison to a volcano. But to get a better understanding of how it affects us is to imagine a camp fire that you are concerned about the smoke. Wind can and will change. You have to make considerations. But coal is probably making the electricity to power your computer.

It’s a complex issue to solve, on the one hand, global warming is happening, its established science, on the other, coal is the cheapest source of fuel, how do we replace it? with what that is economic? solar is promising but seems far off still
