Here is another great example of using what Forrest has actually said to narrow down the search area. Would love to get your input in the comments section.
Now that Forrest has passed on, his "special place in the mountains north of Santa Fe" should be revealed. If you look at the Vallecitos Mountain Retreat website at: https://www.vallecitos.org/ ,and look at the photos (select Why Vallecitos, then Photo Gallery), you will see some hints that were mentioned by Forrest, such as: some cast bronze bells similar to those Forrest made and hid, a photo of the Vallecitos Rio, the "water high" in the poem, and "the poem leads to the end of my rainbow" (see photo of a large rainbow ending near where the treasure was hidden, as Forrest wrote on the inner jacket flap of The Thrill of the Chase). Using Google Maps, look at the area south of the Vallecitos ranch house where you will find a large rock wheel, as in "Try the wheel." https://www.dropbox.com/s/yw1sdttynrfxcnf/2%20Vallecitos%20Mountain%20Retreat-%20Try%20the%20Wheel.jpg?dl=0 – – – – The Google Maps coordinates for the Blaze (large painted black "nn" (for Fenn) on the top of a big white boulder) are : 36.6355, -106.2105 – – – – – – – – –
I disagree. Not that “he took a rental”. I agree he might have taken a rental. I disagree with his being in “truth telling mode.” Huge stretch for a guy who is rambling about and throwing out words like he is trying to hide. He already told us he took a sedan. I know when I’m lying, or trying to throw someone off the trail, I’ll throw out a “few options” for the recipient to take a look at and, usually, the first one is definitely the lie. Just saying. It’s not that easy to read Forrest. But good video.
Fenns comment was a misdirection regarding renting a car, funny how the guy tells fenn we have a email from your fan base then says its anonymous you could see in fenns face and the way he reacted that it was a set up, the question was set up to throw everyone off, fenn has always held his cards very close his chest when it comes to giving away to much information of clues to where he hid buried his treasure he normally chooses not to answer the question if asked a tricky question, why would he offer up such a juicy clue that would could easily lead someone to a car rental company or small airport looking for flight logs, he gave up his flying licenses before he hid the treasure because he didn’t want to renew it because of the new regulations, his time lines are all over the place when it comes to when or where he hid the treasure and when he wrote the poem i dont think he knows himself haha, he doesn’t now what years he traveled back to Yellowstone or other places, if you listen to the Cody interview fenn tells this guy that he drove to Cody for that interview that was in 2006 from santa fe so why would he have rented a car to hide the treasure if he was able to drive himself all that way for that interview in Cody ???, in a different interview fenn said he hadn’t been back to Yellowstone since the 1950s the guy that interviewed fenn didn’t catch what fenn had said and asked him another question, it wasn’t until people on the blogs started questioning what fenn had said this guy contacted fenn again and asked him if this was true and the answer got changed to west Yellowstone instead, there is a lot of evidence that fenn had been back many times to Yellowstone after the 50s so this is just another ruse to get everyone out there looking i personally dont believe the treasure is in Yellowstone or in another state apart from close to Santa Fe new Mexico and most properly at the San Lazaro ruins that he owned that he keep quite about for a very long time when the chase first started, fenn takes ideas and story’s from others and makes them his own, there a lot of connection with the words in his poem and words that his friend Eric Sloane used in his books, places and story’s, a lot of the story’s fenn talks about in his own videos also relate to the history of the native American Indians and Spanish at his San Lazaro pueblo ruins he excavated for many years, that’s the end of his rainbow his very dear secrect special private place that he wanted to go lay down on his treasure and die, that’s his mother lode, fenn talks about his life as a kid growing up in Yellowstone and that his heart has always been in Yellowstone but his passion has was always been in Indian artifacts and thew history of the western way of life hes searched and collected his whole life for treasures the artifacts he got that from his dad, the treasure is very near to where fenn lives and not north of Santa Fe he said in an interview he only said it was north of Santa Fe because he didn’t want people digging up his yard and some lady’s that lived across the road, the thrill of the chase is feens legacy he doesn’t want anyone finding the treasure for a 1000 years but wants people to go out on adventures looking for his treasure, he not going to tell anyone how to find it never, we all need to stop hanging on to everything he has said or what some of his puppets say that he has in his pocket. look closer to home fenns home and remember dont go where a 79 -80 year old man cant go ; )
I respectfully disagree that he is telling 100% truth on the car. When asked an uncomfortable question, I’ve been trained to make a funny/or association and then repeat the question, as a question. This buys time, he does both. Canned answer he uses in other situations "…how many times I’ve thought about this". Most telling is the Clinton Finger (not political bias, just most commonly recognized exaggeration for peeps of our age), "i did NOT" you know the rest lol. As soon as he starts to answer his finger goes up, this is unusual for a relaxed Forrest. There are also several quick lip licks, this one his a little harder to read. I don’t believe we should rule ANYthing out when it comes to this "not trying to mislead, 85/15" joker. All this in my very humble newbie opinion. Great videos and stirred dialogs in your comments.
Piper Malibu Mirage. He sold it at the end of 2002. The deal was finalized in early 2003. He let his pilot license lapse in 2003 and hasn’t piloted an aircraft since.
Interesting but It still could be in New Mexico. He says he planned this out carefully. It would be safer for him to use a vehicle different from his own to preserve anonymity and for safety. His own vehicle may have been well known to people in the area or was indentifiable as Forrest’s, and he was carrying $1m in valuables and driving alone. He also could have been concerned that someone could take hiking photos or videos around where his personal vehicle was parked and accidentally capture a great clue to the general location of the chest. Who knows for sure? Good luck to all.

Common sense or could be spiritual, dreams are not yet understood.
The biggest thing to me in this clip is when Fenn says "when I buried the …uh…hid the treasure." He said it true first – IMO he buried it, or more precisely, placed it inside a container that has a lid of some sort at ground level, like as shown in his book. A container like this would mostly protect the chest from the elements, at least for a while.
He also said Peggy didn’t know he had even left that afternoon. That one has always bugged me wondering if he ever left NM or not..she could have just as well been at a hotel or something but still..
FF never answered the question. He only gave enough info to allow you to infer that he did. Assumptions… ;-P. Great content though. You are certainly looking at the Chase from the right perspective.
Yep 79 80 more like 70 74 in age.
Look at the close up at the Chest see the green tarnish that wast whipped down clean Forrest only been in there a few time.
But he put the chest in there for a few year and retrieved it to to see if it is the spacial place.
And then he hide the true chest filled with gold later like in 2010.
There are 2 good reasons for renting a car, one is because you’re a long way from home & need a vehicle.
The other is because you are near home & don’t want your own vehicle to be recognised by people that know what you drive.
Actually kinda reminds me of a old i love Lucy response. This was one of his staged questions and was obviously acting. When he stutters ‘tward the end as he for got his line, very different than when he put his glasses on because he forgot the last few lines of the poem. Acting requires projecting emotions!!!
There is a couple of things that I dont quite get. In the Moby Dickens bookshop interview 2013 Mr Fenn says clearly that he hid the treasure 15 years after he got cancer. He got cancer in 1988. It would mean that he hid it in 2003, and not 2009/10. He says:" So it was 15 years from the time that I got cancer until the time that I hid the treasure chest. 15 years." At this time he may have had his plane, but he sold it sometime in 2003. Perhaps after he hid the treasure? Anyway. If this is correct, he could have used a plane and then rented a car. But it still could be in new mexico because he tells us he used to fly short distances as well. He flew to Taos with olgas ashes. He maybe flew to taos somewhere and rented a local car there.
Here is another angle. Look at it if it were a set up question. part of the answer, ‘you don’t know how many times I have thought about this" so he already has the answer planned and what to say.
Another interview where he was asked about what he thought about people dyeing looking for the treasure he mentioned that it can be dangerous because there are grizzly bears, etc.
Awesome guys thanks for the info on plane. To me that makes a flight unlikely because that means someone else was involved. So like everything else its not so easy. So he rented and drove if this scenario happened. My logic is far from perfect. Just
trying to get a grasp on any knowns and once they seem logical and decent percentage wise ask the question does it help us.
Love the feedback.
Not implying the location of the chest in any way, however your timelines for driving from Santa Fe to Denver is not correct at 3.5 hours. It is closer to a 6 hour drive, and that is on the flat interstate. Get up into the mountains and it takes longer. Just sayin’
Interesting video.. wanted to add that if he flew.. there would be a record of that flight on either end. Also, even if flying a personal plane (for the sake of smuggling goods) would they not still ask him to declare what he brought with him. That info could possibly be leaked. Something to think about.
The difficulty is we can speculate both ways. FF is a recognizable guy in the Sanfa Fe area and other areas, like Cody for example. So maybe he needed to rent a car so that no one would see his car parked someplace, or driving by someplace – and later put it together, :Hey, I saw Forrest driving around (where ever – say Cody area) on such and such date. And it comes out he had no business there with the museum or whatever, The rental car makes him more anonymous visually in the area.
During an interview someone asked him if he went back to the spot would he bring someone? He responded by asking if the person had a plane

What if he IS "Anonymous" and staged the question to throw your scent off of New Mexico…
I think his wife knows more than we think.
All though his wife says she never knew he did it which in actuality he did it at night 3 to 4 hr drive
Blaze is another word for Hell.
If he owns property somewhere it’s berried on the property in a interview he said he would do whatever he wants to do on his own property
Even if he sold his plane he has access to plenty of planes and you can rent planes as well. Fly in and out of any public airports
Go to Google maps look at the pic all the solve is there blaze and all Fenn just left a clue today went yes went it’s gone back home

Nbc said it’s all about the spiritual quest as in it’s not there
I was trying to say I put an x on the map but I was wrong
HE PROBABLY RENTS A CAR BECAUSE HES AFRAID OTHERS MAY KNOW HIS OWN CAR AND THAT HE WOULD GET STALKED AND POTENTIALLY HARMED OR KIDNAPPED!!!!
I believe that
I like the very early interviews, in an early one, forrest mentioned he owned some older vehicles.(antique)
If I remember correctly, he no longer flew after the FAA changed the qualifications to maintain a pilots license, post 9/11.
The BLM roads cross streams at 9,000 feet above sea level
It’s 1 hr and a half to soda damm

Just a noob here , but doesn’t the poem start in the 5th stanza, because in the 4th you take the chest.????
it can b in ground and not burried, ive known all nine clues and cant leave for 4 days, just like waiting for christmas when a kid times 1000
Forrest conscious will tell the truth.
I buried it.
Great video man. And i always have thought he rented a truck from a cwrtain airport that he flew into privately.
