Just so you guys know… The water that gets sprayed on your car at a car wash has already been sprayed on "156" cars that came through before you. We have separators and skimmers in the drain below you that sort of "recycles" and sort of "cleans" the water and reuses it over and over… It looks like it’s going down the city drain doesn’t it? LUL. It’s not (kind of). Otherwise our water bills would be astronomical. But they’re not (ish) because we use the water over and over.

You can actually mix water and oil in a vacuum and it won’t separate after you re-expose it to air. Action-Lab has a great video on this 😉

My dad just retired from a major car wash manufacturer – he did tech support for the car wash owners. They build both drive-through (touch-free and brushes) and self-serve. First thing to know: he won’t use car washes. At all. He hand washes all his vehicles himself at home. Second thing: the detergents and waxes and everything are legit, assuming the owners use the stuff meant to go through the machines. The water can make a big difference and if they don’t do required maintenance (spoiler: most slack on that), it’s going to affect the results. However, the brushes (both manual and rollers) are by far the worst part. They’re gross, never cleaned, never maintained, and they’re horrible for your car. Bottom line is that if you go to a car wash with an owner who is involved and takes pride in his business, you’re gonna be fine. Good luck finding one of those.

How to remove the black tar marks on the paint?? Here we use diesel or petrol to remove them but it isn’t good for the paint.

My buddy from college said his folks owned a auto car wash and said they are a total rip off! He said the high cost $15 wash cost them like $1 or some crazy small amount per car. And the cheapest was like $.25 lol. Don’t use auto car washes they don’t so a good job and are a rip off. Wash your car at home way better results and way cheaper!

Many car washes have reverse osmosis and water recycling in their wash to cut down on
a) the amount of water being used and
b) the amount of chemical that goes into waste.
When washing your car at home, you use more soap and water than at any typical car wash plus you’re putting those chemicals down your local drain versus having them disposed of properly, like a car wash has to.
Great info though! You definitely know more about chemicals than most chemical reps out there. Good info…but let us not forget that car washes are also helping protect the environment and save water 🙂

Couple days afterwards they charged me for another month. It turns out they have been double charging me for the past year. Just got like a 300ish refund lol
The surfactant is in a different pale. They only chemical difference in the colors is the dye. They are all low pH. The tri foam is not a wax. There are no wax in any car wash.
You guys should test chemical guys, I’m sure some shampoos are good but all of them ?! Citrus wash and gloss is awesome but has to be diluted so I know for sure that one works
