    Hi
Can I legally prospect for gold on property within the Navajo Nation? The area I want to prospect in is about 100-miles N/W of Albuquerque, NM which seems to be in the Navajo Nation. Do I need to get permission or other approvals before I go on that land?

I agree, add something about the northern part of the state, that’s were most of the people live and lots of free gold up north.

I like claim jumpers now. Especially ignorant ones that think the gold is in the overburden. Makes life easier.

Good info. There are lots of old prospects in the boot heel of NM as well as listed working mines in that area. Alot of copper and silver down there but gold too. As you know, gold is known to travel with both as well as with zinc and lead. I do however disagree with you on one aspect of your presentation, and that’s concerning public lands and what’s the proper etiquette. As long as it’s in a known producing mining area and not claimed, it’s finders keepers. The state can’t restrict the public from public lands as the operative word is "Public!"
