Someone on that side of the family was a pastor somewhere in a mining camp, and I was bored one winter, did a free trial on ancestry, and found a lady w the last name James…first name was Lydia. My dad never shared any of that, until after I got hm from Afghanistan.

You guys make me want to get out further than my yard .. my development was originally (as far as I know early to mid 1900s part of the gwyns mansion and surrounding property) I have a costco special metal detector as well the discovery 3300… with 8" coil ,and separately purchased 10"and (4"a gold specific search coil) a whites hand shovel and holster but the most time saving purchase is the Garrett pro pointer AT pin pointer(saves time finding things in the digging spot itself) also I got the knockoff versions for testing the identical advertised GP Pointer sketchy China contemptible clone…. anyway found very old shotgun shells (brass heads of shells anyway as they once were made mostly of paper) and several Barlow and other pocket knives rusted to peices in the rainforest like creek beds of my 2.55 acre North Carolina back yard lol. Any way thanks for sharing the adventure and good luck there’s got to be coin in all that junk and as u know some people spend big cash on old coins as there value keeps going up the older they get.

    so cool

  46. Samuel on February 7, 2021 at 12:06 pm

Doesn’t matter how long ago it was left there – this is a really cool find in the middle of nowhere. You should do this more often. I find it amusing that some people were unrealistically expecting the treasure to be a literal giant stash of money. Awesome nonetheless.

  47. Garden Geek on February 7, 2021 at 12:06 pm

My great grandfather always said that, somehow, we were tied to the James family, that’s what spurred my inner Goonie and how I found that Carter dude’s videos.
