Welcome, and thank you for stopping by our channel!
Shot almost entirely in 4K! …so turn up those video settings!

On this channel we go deep… REALLY deep into abandoned tunnels and mines all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hike back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Some of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver and other minerals.

A&FP moves just a bit slower. We discuss why the miners chose these sites and we try to point out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men loose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.

Dangers? Oh yes, there are allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders and snakes all find there home in abandoned mines, shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooding and collapsing rock!

We take abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly” and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob”, “Quackers” and “Bobbie” are sure to brighten your day with there comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.

Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST.(that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!

P.S. Please LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE! Your support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob thanks you!

Ok, now for the ugly stuff…

I would put an anchor in on or by the floor so you can finish this and find the 1300ft shaft and get down all the way to the bottom…Frank and Sharon I’m sure would do it. When your done cover it up.

I guess the tax man never went to see this mine just took their word for it

  3. Buckshot H on August 30, 2022 at 4:16 am

If you decide to rope in, I hope you bring a buddy to lend a hand. I enjoy your solo videos, but ya can’t edit them if your stuck in a hole! Stay safe! 👍

  4. Ken Nener on August 30, 2022 at 4:17 am

How about driving in the anchors, then slicing them off and cleaning up the stubs with a portable angle-grinder afterwards? Do it at floor level, and lay down a tarp to collect the filings.

  5. Mark Giles on August 30, 2022 at 4:17 am

I don’t think it would hurt if you put in climbing fixtures that are going to allow further safe exploration. If you don’t someone else will. It would open up the mine for yourself and others in the future. You could always camouflage them. Some of those ladders are earth traps.

  6. B NLN on August 30, 2022 at 4:17 am

Am I wrong or is that rotten stair case landing on a gobbing wall?

  7. tnprofreedom1 on August 30, 2022 at 4:21 am

Hanging with Gly is always a good time. 🙂 The can you rubbed with chalk looks like it says "Pacific Mills Powder". If I am right. What do you all think?

  8. ActionAdventureTwins on August 30, 2022 at 4:21 am

3 bolts would be the safest but if you dont want to put a bolt in then your only option is to build a ladder and somehow lower it down or create an attachment point for a rope some other way. maybe you could build a wooden cribbing over the winze at 19:48 to support a rope that you rappel down

There’s one sure way to know where you are underground, you have to run surveys. It would be interesting!

I am in shock of how enormous this place is.
Thank you Gly for showing us this.
    This is incredible.
Once again you have outdone yourself.
    Cheers

  21. Don Marion on August 30, 2022 at 4:34 am

Use your anchors. There’s no telling when the Government may want to keep us safe from ourselves and close it off. You doing a complete documentary on it will be the only way 99.9 % of the people who are interested in mining history ever get to see this amazing place. Great work thank you.

  22. Mike Winings on August 30, 2022 at 4:34 am

Absolute my friend, drive is an anchor,it will be another chapter in the history of that great mine, you aren’t taking anything but great exploration and video, plus, who knows when blm/forest service is going to seal it off for ever!

  23. Victor Crowley on August 30, 2022 at 4:34 am

Personally I’d do the anchors. I think it’s more important to document as much of the mine as possible for the sake of history and exploration

  24. Marc F. on August 30, 2022 at 4:35 am

Like i said, Gly. You discovered the mines of Moria.😊 Thank your for this great adventure. I´m very excited what´s down there deep in the mine.

  25. Philip Fowles on August 30, 2022 at 4:35 am

Dont let it beat you, we all want to see whats down there.
Aluminium ladders can be invaluable when climbing for anchor points bridges etc

  30. Debra I. Lair on August 30, 2022 at 4:42 am

Thank you for a fantastic, awesome explore. Your research, and comments research a longe makes this one of your best mines yet. Yes, please use the anchor bolts. It is man made. They will be clean. This is epic and if it takes a season to do it justice, I’m game to come a long with you. My prayers go with you. 😊

  31. Alice Beck on August 30, 2022 at 4:43 am

Please be safe Gly and thank you for the great adventures. I know I would go down in to those holes! Lol

  32. Nathan Dick on August 30, 2022 at 4:47 am

There may be a day where access is gone forever and the ability to further explore is also lost forever. I understand wanting to preserve these historical sites 100% but adding a few anchor points in my humble opinion to fully document and explore is not littering. These places are regularly being collapsed and closed to keep uneducated individuals from severely hurting themselves and from entering. Your addition of proper anchor points to document an area 90% of us will never physically get to see is acceptable, again in my humble opinion. Your safety as you bring us top notch content is priority number one. I understand the reasoning for wishing to keep it original and unmolested, but if it’s collapsed or barred in three years and nobody has access… a couple mounts from an adventurer such as yourself will not make a difference. I have total respect for your preservation of the glimpses into history you give us and will respect whatever decision you make!

  33. doug piskac on August 30, 2022 at 4:49 am

Add the anchor maybe others can benefit from it. It’s not like you are putting up graffiti. All over.

  34. Daniel Stevens on August 30, 2022 at 4:49 am

    Use the anchors

  35. Write_the_Night on August 30, 2022 at 4:51 am

Hey Gly, if you decide to place the anchors in you could spray paint them black before hand. That way they won’t be as noticable to the next group of explorers. Take care and stay awesome!

  36. MPGunther1 on August 30, 2022 at 4:53 am

Gly, I know you’re very safety conscious but sometimes you really need a second person

Pacific Powder Company , Tenino Washington . F grade Black blasting powder…

  41. Matthew Baker on August 30, 2022 at 5:00 am

Gly It was left for you to explore, and it wont last forever. Drill in some anchors, go as far as you can. No regrets.

  42. Noella Cornelius on August 30, 2022 at 5:03 am

Gly you are the best. Thanks so much. That ore bucket was awesome. Frank should get that. and rebuild it. Before it’s rotted away where know one will ever see it again. Thanks for sharing gly. Stay safe my friend 🙏♥️

  43. T.E. Ross on August 30, 2022 at 5:05 am

I believe if you install one or two anchors, Gly, it will be ok. Future explorers will be great full.
As to the a**holes leaving trash, you are a disgrace to those who respect nature.
You leave it at campsites, on the side of the road, everywhere except in your own homes. You would be royally pissed if people left TRASH in your yards!!
So think it through next time. Maybe you will develop some self respect along the way.

  44. clark williams on August 30, 2022 at 5:05 am

Put the bolts in the wall go to the bottom.

  45. Jim Kuhlman on August 30, 2022 at 5:08 am

Is it possible to drill a hole deeper than the length of the anchor you plan to use? With the nut on the anchor drive it in to that depth. When finished using, take the nut off and drive the anchor to flush. I have done this many times with an 8" floor in a plant. When the machine is no longer there we drive the anchor in flush or cut the stud off flush.

  46. Chris J on August 30, 2022 at 5:08 am

Bring in some lumber and rebuild that rotted staircase.

  47. tattmanndann on August 30, 2022 at 5:11 am

Documentation seems more important than the anchor. There may come a time where no one can see that mine.Low to the floor is a good idea, cut them off with your angle grinder when you leave.other than that, HOLY CRAP WHAT A MINE!

  48. Matt Once on August 30, 2022 at 5:11 am

TWICE’s 11th mini album "Between 1&2" was released on August 26th! Their title track is called "Talk that Talk". Please watch the music video and buy the album! You won’t regret it!
    It’s amazing!!!

  49. Craig Browning on August 30, 2022 at 5:11 am

Maybe you need to devise a "Mini-Schnozzolator" for Interior Mine Shafts?

    Not a quick solution, obviously.

  50. B NLN on August 30, 2022 at 5:12 am

So I a watching and Gly says I don’t need a rope for this I can free climb it, I look away from the screen and the next thing I hear is a scream and thing I have just heard Gly going over the edge. My eyes snap back to the screen and it has cut to a commercial. Talk about making your heart jump!
