Three things to remember when solving the Forrest Fenn treasure poem

Three things to remember when solving the Forrest Fenn treasure poem

Hello everyone. I am happy to be back from an extended break for the holidays. In todays video I announce the winner from our community for the arrowhead as well as talk about three things I think are important to remember when working on your solve. I also touch briefly on the hot topic of the 200 foot searcher.

Illinois ghost video on how it might be buried https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCc0XWOUw8M

Thank you for your post. I cannot give my solve and theories away but I will say that 9 clues are 9 points to consider. I have been researching this for over 2 years as an arm chair searcher. Imho, the treasure is in a very well visited location, not far out in the wilderness, and hidden in plain sight. Reversal, opposites, reflection and a mirror effect is likely important. Eyes are very important, and perception of the poem that is out of the ordinary, or looked at from a different angle may help. Consider a different search method away from the norm of hiking through vast wilderness, imho is important. 😏

In my solve it is on private property owned by ff yet hidden in an LLC so that we cannot identify that he owns it. This is another reason we have to be brave. I feel that, that is the only way nobody will just happen upon it. Plus, things are subject to change anywhere! All of a sudden out of the blue a pipeline Company could annex anywhere, or in our Forest’s, anything goes, including the digging up of ground to make a visitor’s center or the like. So thinking about public land it is risky to put a chest anywhere on those lands. At times, during a forest fire, they will bring in bulldozers and level the areas which in return will also destroy "buried or not" the treasure chest. These are things I had to just really think about. So I am hiding a treasure chest. How can I hide it in the national forest, on blm land, Indian reservation, etc., and know for a fact it will not be disturbed? I cant!

I picked up a treasure tonight I hid over one year ago as a experiment to see if someone would find one in a small area not hid real well and they didn’t find it.
They were all over it and never found it.

I believe…Forrest mentioned as to the buried or not question, If you are in the right location a metal detector could help? That would suggest it is buried?

  7. Jms Fabrication on December 30, 2021 at 4:53 am

I really like some of your reasoning. I also believe that its buried, (if this whole thing is not a big hoax). With the 200 foot thing I thought he never actually told the person directly.. I thought he said that he just made a statement that 2 searchers were within 200 ft. But that he never said who. So nobody knows.

  8. Davio22 on December 30, 2021 at 4:54 am

Covered up by time. Pile of rocks with cow pies to make weeds and sage grow all over it. Under near juniper tree, lots of stuff falls off and would cover. Cant be Buried it would fill with water.

No drama on your channel. Thanks.

  10. Maxbps on December 30, 2021 at 4:55 am

On the whole ‘burying’ point, I, too, think it is covered by a large’ish rock or log for multiple reasons including the picture of the Indian woman with a ‘well-like’ hole that is covered by a rock in one of his books and he has stated that you could not find the treasure with a metal-detector or that a metal-detector would ONLY help if you were in the EXACT right spot.
And ff also once said something to the effect of: ‘turn over a log and see what you find’.

  11. ArielsArk _ on December 30, 2021 at 4:56 am

I watched the Ill ghost video, good way to bury something, but im sure FF has said the chest could get wet .

  12. Sebastien Kaszap on December 30, 2021 at 4:56 am

I believe he put it in an opening and covered it up, with a stone cap or something. This is why he has misspoke and said it was buried. For me, buried means covered by dirt/earth, which it is not. People will probably complain when it’s found, that it was buried. Sepulcured is maybe a better definition of how I think it’s hidden.

    Re: special spot.
I couldn’t agree more. He always knew where he was going to hide the treasure, and he hired a lawyer to figure out the logistics and legalese.

    Re: the blaze
I think the blaze is at least 12 feet wide, and difficult to remove. Forest once said it’s not feasible to try to remove the blaze, and he’s sure it’s still there (maybe via Google Earth?). He also said it’s unlikely someone will get within 12 feet of the chest and not find it. So maybe the blaze is 12+ feet wide?

    Re: buried or hidden
I think the chest is concealed within a jar or container buried with the lid at ground level, probably covered by debris by now. (see p218 in TFTW for description and visual) A 5-gallon fishing bucket is 10-12” wide and the chest could fit snuggly inside 🙂

    PS – congrats Matt!

Catching up on videos and agree on the things to keep in mind when looking at any solve! (Also good to know we were not the only ones thinking it could have been a board member, who probably just was out there perhaps without a solve, was THAT person he mentioned.)

  17. Brandy 246 on December 30, 2021 at 5:02 am

I think it’s in a container under ground. So technically it’s not buried, its hidden. The container it’s in is buried 😁

I havent seen anoyher only Matt…
Dont know if I’m the Matt that won, I didnt sub/like for the contest only as I have hundreds of Arrowheads and if I did win didnt want to deprive another of a shot, so if so please pick another… If Im not, ignore me lol.

This medallion treasure hunt is something you should look into. A medal 🏅 is something you win. A metal detector is required to win. Think radio (scan)ner! I own this mans testical, he’s playing possum and needs to roll quickly!

Think is not buried is under low waters

  22. RickieRickRack on December 30, 2021 at 5:07 am

Keeping the honor of a silver star recipient is paramount to our belief in the treasure.

  23. cahabasteve on December 30, 2021 at 5:07 am

I think the chest is out of sight probably hidden under rocks near water.

  24. fossilman123 on December 30, 2021 at 5:08 am

Great job here. I feel if something is buried its covered with dirt, if its hidden its covered with a rock either way its out of sight

  25. Rowdy Yates on December 30, 2021 at 5:09 am

Good stuff. I think the argument with land deed is that the deed is hidden at the special place and the chest is not. I’m sure it is buried:

1 He has slipped up and said buried several times, but never the opposite
2 It lies 500 feet from where lots of people go. That’s too close not to stumble upon.
3 The bells and jars are described in TTOTC as buried. This is a hint, imo.
4 The shovel pic and avant-garde comment are pretty obvious hints. See recent IG video. I think he wanted people to have fun and go turn over logs at first, but maybe he is starting to feel sorry for the die hard searchers who don’t believe it’s buried and at least making them think.
5 The poem takes you to within several steps – why not bury it?
6 He has said a metal detector would help if in the right spot.
7 Treasure chest is wet, but not under water….. seems to me this indicates burial
8 Burial fits with the "one good clue" we could come up with on our own, imo.
9 Burial protects the chest from fire and falling trees, etc.

If there is a land deed or proxy item, it sort of throws a monkey wrench in all this. The chest could be buried, but the proxy item could be hanging in a tree (highly unlikely of Forrest, but something to consider).

Regardless, I am almost of the opinion a proxy item is buried in one of his jars at the special spot and the treasure itself is buried on LLC land. That solves a bunch of problems, including how he knows if it is found. He was considering IOUs, but Doug Preston seems to indicate he found a better way.

  28. Shawn Sargent on December 30, 2021 at 5:12 am

Nice video! I’m fairly new to the chase…I’ve gotten the book and read it. There’s a line on the poem page that says “at the end of my rainbow” (don’t quote me on exact wording) I got stuck thinking about that for a week even finding out that rainbows can only be viewed at 42 degrees, that definitely seems like a tidbit only Forrest Fenn would know! (Especially with his definition of North meaning 271 degrees to 89 degrees on a compass) Now everyone that reads the comments will know the angle rainbows are viewed/appear!

Thank you for pointing that out around 7 minutes in about the 200 ft. Searcher. I thought these guys were just handing the chest away right there. And then if you watch their show last night… you’ll see that they are giving away too much. I’m pretty sure a lot of what they are talking about is correct. All except the Montana part.

  31. Glenna Freedman on December 30, 2021 at 5:15 am

I believe it is either in mud or hidden by a rock ?

  32. It’s a Secret on December 30, 2021 at 5:15 am

What if the “blaze” is a cattle crossing and you can see it and it will be wet. I do not think it’s under a cattle crossing I’m just thinking out loud.

  34. Senor Chivo on December 30, 2021 at 5:16 am

I think it’s buried in the grand canyon somewhere. Thinking about looking there this summer. I just don’t know where to really start looking.

  35. JanKirb on December 30, 2021 at 5:18 am

Good video as usual and appreciate that you are giving out priizes. Very nice. Some opinions on your topics:
1)Toby suggested that the reason Forrest gave the 200 ft clue was because that searcher died. That is why Forrest had no fear of that searcher going back and no fear of anybody getting help from him. (The searcher could also be alive but incapacitated in some way, I suppose).
2)There are a couple places in the TOTTC text that I’ve seen that I think Forrest believes are hints. I didn’t find them very helpful yet ,and until someone finds the chest you can never know if its right anyway.
    3) Since it is a lot of unnecessary work, I doubt that Forrest dug a hole for the chest and covered it with dirt so I doubt that it is "buried" in that sense. I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t like to use "buried" because that term has legal ramifications that "hidden" doesn’t. If its in a tree hollow it might not be considered "buried" by some people either. He could also have placed it on a flat rock surface and cover it with a bunch of rocks. Is that considered "buried" ? I dunno.
    good luck to all

  36. fins59 on December 30, 2021 at 5:20 am

I disagree that it could be in a buried cache container such as preppers use. The containers are sealed and are designed to keep food such as rice dry for years.
Forrest has said that he knows the treasure chest is wet, so it’s not likely to be in a sealed waterproof buried container.

  37. Chris Kibbie on December 30, 2021 at 5:25 am

The blaze is in eyesight you just have to be there at the right time

  38. Dawna Buchholz on December 30, 2021 at 5:27 am

On the buried part, ff slipped awhile back and said he buried the treasure chest. Then he said he never said he buried it. Forrest was not lying, but instead done a play on words using the same word buried. My dad passes away in 2014 Dec 22nd at the age of 91. I came across an old friend who asked me how my Christmas was. I said it was great other than the fact I had to bury my dad. Okay stop…I did not actually take a shovel and bury my dad, but it is a metaphor a lot of us use. With that said, I believe ff thought of his chest as a parr of him as he has said, and he gave that chest a proper burial, not necessarily buried with dirt. ff said his chest is not under any manmade object or associated with a manmade object. My father was buried in a casket, when I buried him. Notice, buried in my sentence has two different meanings. So my dad was placed in an underground vault ‘filed’ so to speak "which also means "whet"… "I would know that my treasure chest was wet…ff. Or whet? Now even though my father was in a casket, and placed "whet" in a vault, does not mean my dad had any association with that vault or casket, he was just entombed in them. Was my dad under a man made object in that casket? No, he was inside the man made object. Was my dad underneath that manmade object we call a concrete vault? No, he was inside a casket, and that casket was inside a vault, not under a vault, not under a casket, but inside! Another word for placing inside is Whet, pronounced WET. ff hints at this in the book while marrying it to the poem. Asphalt= As…halt, which rhymes with vault. Secret…conCRETe… in my solve it is all in the poem, and the book plays a huge part in it too.

I like the way you think! Narrowing it down to where it cannot be is a great investigation! I have done the same. I have went into this hunt as though I am an investigator trying to find the whereabouts of a dead body with whom a man will only reveal the place in a poem and books. I think this is great! Such a wonderful video!

  40. Dawna Buchholz on December 30, 2021 at 5:31 am

I would love that arrowhead, because imagine who carved it? Where it was etc.,? I have a safe in a safe place for that arrowhead. Once again, safe meaning two different things. God bless

Hidden out of sight amongst many large rocks, not a place one would pass through, without a very good reason. Nice points and videos!

  45. fossilman123 on December 30, 2021 at 5:39 am

When did FF first say this about the 200 ft searcher ?

  46. Jeremy Ward on December 30, 2021 at 5:40 am

"PHYSICS tells me the treasure chest is wet." It is under a rock or covered with something he made to camouflage it. I believe the chest is touching soil/organic matter, however. Remember he said it was still exposed to the elements and could be scorched by a wildfire. Wildfires scorch everything in their path, including the subsurface.

  47. LouB747 on December 30, 2021 at 5:40 am

When did the 200 foot story come out!? After late August 2018? Did Fenn say whether the picture was an actual photo or a drawn map/letter drawn picture left at his house? How did Fenn determiner the wealth of the individual and his wife??

  48. Glenna Freedman on December 30, 2021 at 5:41 am

I believe the wealthy searcher was Forrest Fenn
