These Pools Help Support Half The People On Earth

What are these electric blue ponds in the middle of the Utah desert? And why do they keep changing color?

Join Derek Muller (Veritasium) as he looks into the weird, bizarre, and seemingly inexplicable images found on Google Earth to discover what on Earth they actually are. It’s a travel vlog, documentary, and science show wrapped into one. It’s Pindrop.

the dramatic quick cuts at different speeds of the mineshaft explosion model do not let you actually see the very cool experiment. Wish I could see the single uninterrupted shots from each angle in slow motion.

Anyone knows about the ecological impact? Heard that with lithium in Chile and Bolivia that is a big issue, but maybe the Colorado river can handle losing a bit of water?

The rant at the end about hunter gatherers is NOT based on facts. Many archeologists believe we only spent 20hrs a week gathering food

It might sound stupid, but my question is: How did the bucket gain so much upward momentum? I would have thought that it would have been a downward thrust (on the container) because of the open area at the top. If the bottom had blown open, I could see it, but it didn’t break at all. Is it just "bouncing" off the table? I assume that most of the energy was vented out the top since the container stayed in tact. I would have thought that it would have blown out the sides. Which begs the question, what the hell was it made of?

  47. Arturo Ochoa on July 13, 2021 at 4:40 pm

I say, this is the kind of esoteric stuff that only a wizard will keep in his spell book. But what you’re doing is what prophets do: spreading knowledge to humanity. You’re doing ‘The Lords Work’ as they say. And I find very inspiring. Since, funny enough, I was smoking two whole chickens in my backyard. And I noticed the ash from the spent charcoal briquettes. And I’ve been told from my brother about gunpowder. As if The Lord is giving me this information to me – of course for the intention and benefit of my neighbor and humanity. Since, potash can be used for creation, or destruction. Just as much as tools and other things. A foolish wizard will only dable in things he don’t understand if he were desperate. And that will soon consume him and change him for evil.
