On vacation, we visited there about 15 years ago. It was May and over 90 degrees so it was very hot out there in the open. But we had loads of fun and came home with some pretty cool conglomerates. You can take out up to 10lbs or so of rock each visit.

I didn’t know it was the only public one, I’ve been there and found nothing, it’s a waste of time

    i’m confused.
    it’s a field.
    there’s diamonds in the field.
why are there diamonds in the field.
i would’ve expected diamonds to only be found in deep caves or something

What still boggling is that the ground is still technically fresh since no heavy machinery is allowed in and most of the people are tourists. Imagine digging and extra 10 to 20 feet.

  26. T Sm on May 14, 2021 at 11:13 am

Only 1 out of 493 people who go here find a diamond, according to the stats in this video. Since it costs $10 per day to enter the park, you can average 1 diamond for every $4,930 you spend.

  42. Alli YAFF on May 14, 2021 at 11:27 am

I want to know what sort of methods you’re allowed to employ. I presume they won’t let you bring blasting equipment, but are you allowed to bring a pickaxe and dig a hole? Also, some rocks contain diamonds that you can’t see until you strip the rest of the rock away. Are you allowed to bring chemicals to dissolve the rock layer?

  43. Briseis on May 14, 2021 at 11:31 am

Raw diamonds are brown, rarely ..grey.

What a goofball reporter or whatever you call that Young guy he ask the stupidest questions. I was interested in the mine and the diamonds not this subculture of the slew of characters you talk about what a slam. Are these rockhounds good people or bad people maybe you should ask that question? Get the hook, you’re the only reason I would not go there but I really would like to go….lol

  46. Kevin Altinawi on May 14, 2021 at 11:32 am

Bad history my great-great-great-grandfather John Huddleston was an alcoholic and sold that diamond mine for 5 grand not no 36

  47. Mike Ramey on May 14, 2021 at 11:32 am

If people really knew how cheap and common diamonds are.. jewelry stores and dealers would go out of business.. the major dealers back in the day decided to control supply and act like they’re super rare.. they still do control supply today.. but they’re really not rare or expensive.. the dealers make them expensive and the people that pay for them.
