I wonder how many are actual Gemologists. Disappointing for seasoned minors I am sure. Save some for people who invest in their education to do so. Scavenger hunts are why so many mines are not open to the public. Thanks for the report. Good to know but still having a problem with travel. Love from a Southern California Gemologist.

Great to see How Insane and Ridiculous mining is for the envoirment.
I´d prefer if that place would rather inform ppl about How Bad mining is, instead of encouraging it.

While crater of diamonds is everything you say it is, it’s also possible to rockhound diamond bearing kimberlite in Northern Colorado along the Wyoming border in the Roosevelt NF. You’ll have more of a chance of being attacked by a mountain lion than finding a diamond. The geology is interesting though. I’m planning to look for placers and other associated minerals in the drainage of the intrusions while camping soon! There won’t be any but maybe I’ll find a little gold.

  31. Christopher Leubner on June 9, 2023 at 11:49 pm

Best to visit it after a good rain. Bring a steel garden claw type tool as the soil is a kinberlite clay that is tricky to dig in. You can pan them like gold or screen sift them. They have a greasy look to them. A shade shelter is nice as well. Place has a a RV park, pool picknic area and some other stuff when you get bored digging for diamonds. ❤

  46. New Bleppmore on June 10, 2023 at 12:01 am

there are plenty of public fossicking areas around the world where diamonds are found but i suppose theyre not primarily diamond fossicking locations.

  47. Waylon Martin on June 10, 2023 at 12:02 am

I like the other public diamond mines much more. I love videos like this, keeps the other mines from getting too crowded.
