Great to see How Insane and Ridiculous mining is for the envoirment.
I´d prefer if that place would rather inform ppl about How Bad mining is, instead of encouraging it.

Arkansas native and went to college in the area. Been there several times. My favorite was when I chaperoned my daughter’s high school class on a field trip the mine. No finds. Wait a minute…Yes there were. Lots of fun, camaraderie and priceless moments.

Diamonds are totally worthless. I was trying to find a video. Let’s say 60 minutes. It showed diamonds in Russia. You see a cabinet with 2 inch drawers, so each cabinet might have 20 drawers. You slide out a tray and it’s filled with graded diamonds. They had hundreds and hundreds of cabinets in a big room. They said that big room was just one room they owned.
The interviewer was talking about how Russia, at THAT time, was having a hard time even getting in enough food and more importantly, medicine and asked "why don’t you (Russia) just sell all these for the money? The guy said that there were so many millions and millions of diamonds in those cabinets, that if they released them all, children would be playing with them in the street because they’d be worthless. And you know Russia isn’t the only country holding back on diamonds to keep the price higher. They are worthless in the long run. I’d never buy a diamond. Every household in America has at least one diamond in jewelry. Think of all those cabinets. One day the market will crash and bring this to an end.

I wonder how many are actual Gemologists. Disappointing for seasoned minors I am sure. Save some for people who invest in their education to do so. Scavenger hunts are why so many mines are not open to the public. Thanks for the report. Good to know but still having a problem with travel. Love from a Southern California Gemologist.

While crater of diamonds is everything you say it is, it’s also possible to rockhound diamond bearing kimberlite in Northern Colorado along the Wyoming border in the Roosevelt NF. You’ll have more of a chance of being attacked by a mountain lion than finding a diamond. The geology is interesting though. I’m planning to look for placers and other associated minerals in the drainage of the intrusions while camping soon! There won’t be any but maybe I’ll find a little gold.

  31. BumBum on November 8, 2022 at 3:11 pm

There’s one in India to. Where anyone can search for diamond for 700 rupees.

  38. Christopher Leubner on November 8, 2022 at 3:30 pm

Best to visit it after a good rain. Bring a steel garden claw type tool as the soil is a kinberlite clay that is tricky to dig in. You can pan them like gold or screen sift them. They have a greasy look to them. A shade shelter is nice as well. Place has a a RV park, pool picknic area and some other stuff when you get bored digging for diamonds. ❤
