Welcome, and thank you for stopping by our channel!
Shot almost entirely in 4K! …so turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep… REALLY deep into abandoned tunnels and mines all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hike back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Some of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower. We discuss why the miners chose these sites and we try to point out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men loose sleep in the 1800âs and early 1900âs and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
Dangers? Oh yes, there are allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders and snakes all find there home in abandoned mines, shafts and tunnels. Oh, and letâs not forget rotting timbers, flooding and collapsing rock!
We take abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesnât mean we canât have a bit of fun along the way. âGlyâ and his band of crazy characters âOld Bobâ, âQuackersâ and âBobbieâ are sure to brighten your day with there comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST.(thatâs 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so donât forget to click that bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
P.S. Please LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE! Your support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into âOld Bobsâ tank. Old Bob thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff…

Nice to see a lot of these old mines still accessible when I know the feds are busy sealing them up trying to make the world the most boring safest place they can.

Sincere compliments to the more recent weekend miners who risked their lives and practiced sweat equity, who likely paid off mortgages and college tuition. I hope they prospered and stayed safe. Seldom are such opportunities to those who are willing to take such risks available today. đ
I love the fact of you stopping and giving explanations of the mine workings it adds so much to the video, thankyou Gly
To be honest I don’t know what I’m looking at in those rocks or colours never even heard of the names you mentioned but always learning from your channel.
AMAZING!!
Cool ore body, glad you got a close up of it. Absolutely beautiful.
I laugh every time I’m watching a climb up one of these really sketchy ladders and you say," oh yea! This ladder’s in great shape!". I’m thinking you’re crazy!
Love your feeds. I grew up in northern NV. Explored mines in Virginia city. Watching you brings back great memories!!

For anyone who is interested, here is what happened on April 4th, 1965. (Source Wikipedia)
April 4, 1965 (Sunday)
During a U.S. Air Force strike on the Thanh HĂła Bridge, North Vietnamese Air Force MiG-17 fighters attacked a formation of U.S. Air Force F-105 Thunderchief strike aircraft, shooting down two F-105s. Captain James Magnusson and Major Frank Bennett were both killed when their jets, the first aircraft lost in air-to-air combat by either side during the Vietnam War, were downed.
The coronation of Palden Thondup Namgyal as the King of Sikkim took place at a Buddhist chapel in Gangtok, the capital of the protectorate of India, as Sikkim’s 170,000 citizens were permitted to watch on a special television circuit. Palden, who had succeeded upon the death of his father, Tashi Namgyal, on December 2, 1963, was crowned Chogyal and his wife, the former Miss Hope Cooke of San Francisco, wore the crown of the gyalmo (Queen consort). The monarchy would be abolished almost ten years to the day afterward, on April 10, 1975, and Sikkim would become the 23rd state of India.

The Barite from the silver mine still on eBay?
I took 2 geology classes in college to learn more about the mines I explored but basically learned nothing. I’ve learned more about geology watching your videos than I could have in 10 geology classes! I love your great videos!
Someone dropped a rock down I’ll bet and broke that rung on the ladder. Like that haha.
I was a powderman 2000â +/- down and horizontal supplying stopes with everything particularly the aforementioned. Manways did not afford backpacks nor the man I grew to be. Hungover days many of us would find a dark corner, turnoff lamp and sleep.
Hey gly were you a minor at some point? You seem to know a whole bunch about mines.
In 1979 my brother and me went south of Yosemite in search of some old mining camps too. In the 70’s was prime time finding old camps that still had plenty of gold and silver we found a lot of gems too . We went down around Sedona where they mined copper too, watching all this reminds me of our trips to California, the crowds were down too so we could find what we wanted. Thanks for the cool stories too, there’s still a lot to mine there too.
I thought the kid in the intro was a really old lady with a wig on.
That was some beautiful lumber, quite a bit looked pristine by mine standards! Great episode as usual. đ
Learned a lot from this one.
Great investigation, keep it up! Why so many bat droppings, they just cant hold onto things and keep dropping them ? ? (hahaha)
Nice, who was flying the drone?…Good Job……Great job on the filming, and editing…You get around pretty good for a big guy…Like all the artifacts..Thanks for explaining about what they used the fire for…Me was thinking to keep warm..hahhaha…..Wonder why they stoped?…..Looks like still work to be done…………………..JB………….
Awesome mineralization and terrific video. I’m glad to watch for a change, but envy you the adventure !!
The bats are AWESOME đŠ

I like the cameraman, but I also like when you explored solo holding your camera the whole time a bit better. And yes, I do like the original intro. Mr Duck, that sign you pull down, the plastic snake and I loved it when you scratched your butt. =)

Beware of the  BergmÀnnlein lol.
