CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Inigo (Mandy Patinkin) avenges his father by killing his murderer, Count Rugen (Christopher Guest).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on William Goldman’s novel of the same name, The Princess Bride is staged as a book read by grandfather (Peter Falk) to his ill grandson (Fred Savage). Falk’s character assures a romance-weary Savage that the book has much more to deliver than a simpering love story, including but not limited to fencing, fighting, torture, death, true love, giants, and pirates. Indeed, The Princess Bride offers a tongue-in-cheek fairy tale depicting stable boy-turned-pirate Westley’s journey to rescue Buttercup (Robin Wright), his true love, away from the evil prince (Chris Sarandon), whom she had agreed to marry five years after learning of what she had believed to be news of Westley’s death. With help from Prince Humperdinck’s disgruntled former employee Miracle Max (Billy Crystal), swordsman Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin), and a very large man named Fezzik (Andre the Giant), the star-crossed lovers are reunited.

Undoubtedly one of the best, funniest, poignant and fulfilling scenes in one of the best, cleverest, most satisfying movies, period.
Pedro Pascal could play an amazing Iñigo
Montoya’s resolve
i have watched this movie so many times, and yet that "I want my father back, you son of a b*tch." hits so hard every time.
When I was working commercial nuclear security, there were these things called "sound powered telephones", and they were everywhere, just like a Naval warship.
0300 in the morning, I’m on the -68"6′ elevation, on patrol, and bored as all get-out. Spin the dial to an unmarked position, crank the "wake-up" handle, and find out who I was talking to.
God, I used to screw with people. The best part was, there’s no caller ID, so they don’t know where you’re calling from. And the voice distortion makes voice ident pretty much impossible.
This has the same energy as the red viper in game of thrones and now that I’ve seen princess bride it low-key cheapens it a bit cos i watched got first and that scene SHOOK ME bcos I had never seen anything like that before lmaooo but now seeing princess bride and how great it was written and acted out idk the got scene seems a bit meh (not the acting, but the writing of it)
Mom: don’t be so dramatic
Me: 1:46
They dont make movies like this anymore
And that’s the guy from criminal minds if you can believe it
you find the people who have power over you and you murder them. that is a beautiful thing in my eyes
"I give you everything you want…"
"… Play the Heavy Duty solo, Nigel"
*How the Last of us Part 2 should’ve ended*
According to Patinkin, he had just lost his father to cancer, and he got this performance, and the sheer *vitriol* in the line ‘I want my father back you sonivabitch’, by imagining Count Rugen was the physical manifestation of the cancer that killed his father.
My name is rodrigo Montoya, prepare to DANCE!
Well josh
" I want my parents back, you SOBs! "
The way this fight is choreographed with the music is so good
Inigo didn’t get stabbed, he just needed to use Sepukku to buff his attacks
took 20 yrs wow
Why why why can’t they make good movies like this anymore.
Seriously, is there anyone who can watch this and not want to scream at the end? There are dozens of entire action movies that aren’t as badass as these two minutes.
My name is Darth vader, I am your father, prepare to die. 🤣🤣( Big bang theory)
If you notice, Inigo matches all the physical injuries the Count gave him, both old and new, almost like Inigo were fulfilling the revenge of every pain Count Rugen caused him.
only a great comedy can make you cry bro
Indigo gives rogan injuries in the reverse order he gave him.
If i got revenge an it was 2% as good as this I’d die a happy man!
This cuts out one of the best parts! After he kills the 6 fingered man, he doesn’t celebrate. There is no joy on his face. He just stands over him in silence. The victory is hallow, his father is still dead. It is a much deeper (and more subtle!) ending to the fight than you’d typically expect from Hollywood.
There is a huge emphasis on why this duel is so short. The six fingered man is cruel, sadistic, dishonoroable and a coward. He is no match for Inigo and he knows that immediatly. But he cannot beat his nature so he mocks him. Later his slashes and defenses are shabby and slow.
Also, Inigo learnt something from Westley: he learnt to respect his opponent. He doesn’t play around, he goes straight to the point when he can.
Look up why Mandy Patinkin was able to preform this with such prowess. It’s super heartbreaking why, but worth the read.
I watched this movie in English and it was really good
Literally one of the best scenes in cinematic history.
Disney for the win
His father’s hand is guiding his sword.
I don’t know why I find it so funny when he shouts HELLO . This film is somehow so funny but also has some great dramatic lines and moments
"Now offer me money" I can’t help but imagine if it just switched up from a revenge story to a a straight up mugging
“Appear weak when strong, appear strong when weak.”
— Sun Tzu, The Art of War
That "offer me money" is gotta be one of the greatest lines in cinema.
This is how I would likely dream of introducing myself to avenge my own father
Inigo Montoya was honestly an unstoppable force. He got stabbed by Count Rugen not one, not two, but three times and kept holding on, and he just endured that pain. Then he wounded Count Rugen in every way that Count Rugen wounded him, poking him in his left shoulder and right arm, and cutting both his cheeks before delivering the final blow. Truly poetic justice
Such a powerful scene
“My name is Inigo Montoya. You Killed my Father. Prepare to die” is a quoted in other films and TV shows as "Say Hello to my Little Friend"
Arno vs shay
I could watch this a kajillion(lol) times!!!
i love the use of music with the sword clashes (0:49 & 1:01)
One of the best scenes in cinematic history. It was so impeccably acted, and the swords clashing on beat with the score? Perfect.
Hello!
One of my favorite scenes in movie history
Red viper
The last line Inigo gives to him is a thousand times better than his name. The way he says it too. Brilliant.
Everytime I see the Giovanni Giorgio meme, I think of this. This is by far superior to that meme.
