The Lost Rhoades Mine: Experts Reveal Secrets

The Lost Rhoades Mine: Experts Reveal Secrets

Probably the greatest lost treasure story of all time. The history of the Lost Rhoades Mine is where Mormon history intersects with native american, Spanish Conquistadors and the possibility that large amounts of gold were given to Brigham Young and early Mormon settlers.

I’m sure the gentlemen interviewed were experts in their own field, but neither confessed to actually taking much of an active interest in seeking out the Lost Rhoades Mine(s). Seems like a video of this type would have benefited from some experts of the exploration rather than people who were tangentially related. I also recognize, folks that might be considered experts in the mines might not be in any big hurry to do a video about it for a variety of reasons.

I think its one thing to be skeptical, its another for the guy making the video to sound completely dismissive and condescending. It’s OK to be a skeptic, its another thing to execute a video that seems completely disrespectful to the subject material when that wasn’t the goal. Whether you believe the stories or not, having a measure of respect for the history, the folklore and the impact on the community are crucial. There is a way to be skeptical or even handed without sounding like you’re rolling your eyes in disbelief the entire time you’re talking about it.

I liked Ken Sanders’ stories on George Thompson and his role in publishing some of the books, it’s a unique perspective but again, Sanders’ seems more focused on undermining the stories and looking down on people that have some measure of faith in them.

A squandered opportunity in my opinion, hoping the follow up is conducted with a bit more reverence.

Many years ago I looked for the mine just outside Vernal. Clues say a dinosaur laying down. Found 3 lakes finally and went to area where the direction say it should be. There was a landslide there. Maybe someone covered it up. I felt that there was someone watching us all the time. We didi maued out of there. There are golden trout in the streams there.

Why is reality not enough for people? Aliens, ghosts, lost “rooms of gold” protected by an “angel” with a sword. Give me a god damned break.

I’m the 5th generation living in Kamas… I can tell you none of the people in this video have any type of expertise other than reading from books. And none interviewed any of the people that actually know. Tommy Thompson… grew up in Kamas, not park city. I remember eating at his restaurant, the Chuck Wagon on center street in Kamas. The video does have one truth. The Rhodes mine is in the Uinta mountains.

It’s not really true, you will never find it in vernal! It’s not in that part of the country. Your kina close, 😁 roads was full of it id say. Gold would be in the washes, that size of a load gold area, would have gold, running down the drainage.
