In this small series I am in Colorado with Edwin and visit abandoned mine related facilities.
I visit the infamous ghost town Gilman, which closed in 1984 by the order of the Enviromental Protection Agency because of toxic pollutants. Since then it’s a forbidden ghost town.

Hi, Al. This video is about an abandoned me in Colorado USA Please show it to people who will like it. Thank you.
(at 1:58)
ive seen this mining ghost town before during summer vacation, also a few years ago when i went camping with my brothers and parent, i have always wanted to visit this place, i heard it went abandoned because of toxic things in the ground
everyone had to leave their things behind because of it
I worked for a company that would clear the storm and water lines after every season. We had access to the valley right next to the tracks. The old timer giving us the rundown told us that the kids in Leadville had a game to see who could send a car the furthest down the hill. They would buy old cars to launch them over the cliffs. It’s a drive very much worth taking, I was blessed to be on the bottom side, even though I was working, I stood and took a piss off of an old bridge the train would use, (into the river, sorry) It’s such a trip imagining how a train was roaring by at one point. I find myself riddled with anxiety. History really helps me, because it can’t change, I was blessed to talk to an old timer about this part of history. Absolutely Blessed
Fool’s gold is actually very extremely easy to find but yet real gold is actually very extremely hard to find. Pyrite (fool’s gold) will actually have an odor, smoke, and changes color when heated, real gold won’t do that.
Oh guys…at around 10:00, all that broken corrugated siding you stepped on looks like it might be cement asbestos. That stuff releases asbestos fibers when broken up like that…you really don’t want to be breathing that in. Y’all might want to wear an N95 or P100 half-mask respirator to protect yourselves when you’re exploring these deteriorating old buildings. Be safe out there!!
Thanks airing and sharing the outstanding video Narratives.Endeavors are preponderating. Bliss
i didnt see any ghost ??? but thank you for the tour …
Awesome
Cant be that toxic if you guys are walking around in shorts and tshirts without eye protection or some sort of respirators lol
Colorado is covered with these, and the mountains are riddled with miles, and miles of tunnels.
All the military bases are in some level of use, unlike Europe. The silos are the most likely, but they’ve been decommissioned and flooded for the most part. And a lot of them have been bought and converted into fortified houses. But there’s a lot of old mining towns that produce the gold to fund the wars, different scars and dieing towns, that once thrived.
Be safe and take care and God bless amen.
Maybe Raymond died of boredom… how gruesome.
Anyone friendship with me
Would be really cool for town to turn that mine into a museum
Those big bolts you shown are around 30 bucks each
Colorado is very toxic .
Laporte Co had its cement factory shutdown by epa .
The old church mines in Southern Co leached out uranium into the water and soil .
Very cool , my Grandpa , and my Dad worked underground mines , back in the 1950s and earlier for Granpa , he was injured in a Cave in when ceiling rock collapsed and crushed his skull
Lots of scrap metal
Cool place to explore, looking at all the machineries thinking about it operating.
Graffiti is pure ugly!
That was intense. Wicked video
That looks like pyrite in your hand.
the stuff in the hand at 22:05 is not Gold. It is Iron Pyrite.
I was a two year old child when my father worked in the mine. My mother told us she tied us to trees when we were outside to protect us from the cliff that was our front yard.
you should have brought metal detectors maybe you would have found some gold
I went to Colorado Mountain College in Leadville in 1968-69, and worked night shift as a miner at the Eagle Mine (Gilman). Never had much time to sleep or study, so I quit college and the mine and went to Vietnam.
Good GRAVY you guys, an ad every THREE MINUTES??? come on…
This tour reminded me of so many video game maps from the 2000’s… Did this not strike anyone else’s mind?
Well if there ever is a reason we need "metal" like in the early 1940’s, we know where to get all that metal 😁 The abandoned mines in both US and Canada with all the abandon equipment melted down would equal so much. Crazy to think of.
Wow! Incredible journeys💚👍😃 I just found your channel, did not hesitate to subscribe! Thank you for going down the unbeaten paths so that I may enjoy these places too🤙 without all the hiking😂🤗
when it was running at full-speed it was probably really loud and noisy with the kilns rotating and the ball-crushers and conveyor belts all adding to the din – An awesome explore here guys!
Hi Bob
Well done, you guys gave a good feel what it’d be like exploring it yourself!
However, did you see any wildlife AT ALL? At least there’s none I saw in the video whatsoever. Not even a spider, bird or insect? This is a major red flag it could be very unsafe to visit. As a fly fisherman I’d be very curious what’s in that stream though! I imagine there are fish in it at least.
Fantastic place!
i live in garfield county in colorado, and even just by driving around with my parents or grandma(i cant drive lol) i have gotten amazing pictures that show the beauty of colorado
22:26 that’s iron pyrite. fools gold.
Y’all need to be careful as well cause lots people go missing
Lots of copper in those transformers
I drive by this site frequently and the site is fenced and posted with NO TRESSPASSING signs, guess you guess can’t read and respect our laws. a big thumbs down!
ya .. vidoe quite enjoyable an entertaining to tell us of our history.. thank you muchly.. helena will find the continued part.. must watch it to the end.. hehe.. to see how you will enjoy the microwave food at such a time of day.. from starbucks.. wow.. not even a mcdonalds is open.. shame on them huh.. hehe x
Great Bob, keep on exploring🤠
You talk like a computer. No thanks
Cool to see the old Powerhouse.
Gilman had a school at one time. Its gorgeous country up and down around there outside Gilman. Its one road to take to get to Vail. You can get to Aspen in the other direction via Independece Pass. Its just unbelievable. You get to view Buena Vista mtn range. Colorado has everything and many people cant move away it is so nice once you visit. I lived there over 40 year span..1973 to 2012. So many wonderful memories.

They use this town in a movie called Dark Territory with Steven Seagal.
Wow, so amazing these building w/ machineries. Tell so much of the histories of a mining town. Can imagine what people do for entertainment since TV, internet, ps5 didn’t exist yet as it does 2day. Thx 4 sharing on Utube.
Buen trabajo chavalones
So I would guess they left everything intact because they had intended to reopen the mine at some point in the future and much of the equipment was too old to move to another mine. That being said, this mine could eventually be reopened some time in the future, if the need ever arises. Just the nut and bolt hardware is likely worth thousands so it is kinda surporising they didn’t sell that off or take it to another mine to be used. Any new mining would have to be far more concerned with ground and surface water contamination going forward.
Tweakers definitely haven’t found that place yet all the scrap copper still there
All those stainless steel bolts are not cheap to buy and those are as good as ever.
Canadian accents are pretty evident here. Welcome to the USA our northern neighbors.
