In this small series I am in Colorado with Edwin and visit abandoned mine related facilities.
I visit the infamous ghost town Gilman, which closed in 1984 by the order of the Enviromental Protection Agency because of toxic pollutants. Since then it’s a forbidden ghost town.

When you tag up an old abandoned mine like, “whatever,” and then a million people ending up reading it.

    “Nice!”

  11. Sean Young on April 9, 2023 at 5:59 pm

    Those chunks were iron pyrite.

Why are young people so obsessed with the word "abandoned?" It seems they apply it to everything that’s not immediately being used by someone. Get out of you car to run into the store…the car is "abandoned!" Leave your house to go to work…your house is "abandoned!" I just don’t understand the obsession!

  16. John Garibay on April 9, 2023 at 6:03 pm

Man ppl could get so much money from scrap metal from this town….. tracks, machinery, cars, etc. …. Wtf, hahaha.

  24. Kevin Basden on April 9, 2023 at 6:08 pm

Marker 22:24 Gold comes out in chunks not crystals. That’s iron pyrite.

I am the daughter of a former miner in Idaho and I enjoy your site. Dad was hired by a mine owner in idaho in 1943 to work in essential mining for WWII . He followed this career for ten years as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator. After WWII he worked for companies mining for gold, both by hard rock or tunnels and dredges. Growing up in the mountains was a wonderful child
    hood.

  29. vnorvi on April 9, 2023 at 6:14 pm

You guys seriously need to be more careful. I grew up nearby, and every year there would be/are are stories in the newspaper about people like you being killed in a collapse around the old mines. It’s no joke. And that does not even begin to account for the nasty stuff in the air etc. oh, snd if I recall they will lock you up if they catch you in this particular town. At least bring someone with you who has a clue. You clearly do not.

Raymond Archuletta died in a mining accident. His memorial and gravesite info is online. Stated "small statured human and children were used in closed quarters"

  33. Allen Sarkozy on April 9, 2023 at 6:17 pm

The shiny metal chunks you saw around this mine could be a mineral called Iron Pyrite, it’s also known as "Fools Gold"

  34. Todd with 2 D’s on April 9, 2023 at 6:25 pm

How was it cheaper to leave all that machinery. They left a complete machine shop. One of those lathes is $75,000 and there’s 3 in one shop in that mine.

I know I am very late but to everyone still watching the video the main reason no one evee takes anything from Bodie is because it is a cursed town which means all the items are cursed. If you remove anything from Bodie it’s said you will be cursed until you return the item. I have been to Bodie three times now and are completely obsessed.

  43. Rebel Archer on April 9, 2023 at 6:37 pm

The little bits of rock you found most likely held Pyrites and not gold , otherwise the rock would be crushed and gold extracted .

  44. I-vlog on April 9, 2023 at 6:38 pm

Yeah pcb, heavy metals, arsenic, sulfuric acid, Cadmium, asbestos etc. This is a place you didn’t want to explore with out a respirator and probably shouldn’t have been hanging out in no less eating food with your dirty hands after touching everything. After reading the Super fund site information you tbh are kinda dumb for going and your behavior.

  45. David Tate on April 9, 2023 at 6:38 pm

Did you to have permission to explore this area.
