New bottle caps are made actually all the time in Fallout, just not by one person but the NCR.

Alan really was the embodiment for when normal people jokingly say the turn of phrase “I’ve killed for less” 😂
“Alan has murder 23 people for their bottle caps” 💀

I don’t want to have future encounters spoiled related to the treasure spoiled as this is my first New Vegas playthrough so I’ll be leaving a timestamp and coming back to finish the video later! 9:38

Is it just me or did it sound like festus said fuck you instead of thank you?

  13. Apollo on July 7, 2023 at 1:27 pm

I think "new robot" may have been referring to a new (type of) robot. Meaning multiple possible instances of a given "model", rather than just one robot.

  14. banjomanperson on July 7, 2023 at 1:28 pm

    Bro is named happy

  15. NORKIE on July 7, 2023 at 1:29 pm

The mr handys are the "new fangled robots" not festus, you’re assuming festus is the new fangles robot, its not. Its just a front for the fake "rewards"

  16. A Gift Of Flame on July 7, 2023 at 1:30 pm

obviously sunset sarsaparilla is the product of a bootstrap paradox, it’s quite elementary really, and there’s no way obsidian would get this wrong!

  17. Goliath saber on July 7, 2023 at 1:31 pm

I believe how that robot cow boy can control the truck driving and delivers of the drink I believe each truck is automated to be remotely controlled by the robot and each truck has crates and a one handy bot and protectron to put the drinks in the soda machines and stores

  18. Park Mojo on July 7, 2023 at 1:31 pm

What if you don’t turn around and just watch Jacqueline, is she going to attack you?

I accidentally found this place on my way to vault 22 and the double doors where Mark’s body is is actually locked with no way to pick it until you give all the star caps to Festus, so he was locked inside.

  24. shivanSpS on July 7, 2023 at 1:42 pm

The Allen Marks ending is a little weird, you can read from the computer that he was injured by the robots. But there is no message anywere indicating of an automated system to lock the intruder in that room. (there is a some sort of device next to the door). What i think it happened is that Allen Marks probably was the one to shoot up Festus and Festus somehow managed to lock in that room after sending him to it.
Why Festus didnt lock the Courier in too i dont know. Maybe because it ran out of power.

  25. shivanSpS on July 7, 2023 at 1:43 pm

Another option with Jacklyn is say you have no idea, and then pickpocket the 9 bottle caps out of her… she will keep walking for a while but she will eventually realise that you stole them. But that gives you the option to get the caps whiout killing her.

  26. samule on July 7, 2023 at 1:43 pm

It’s possible nuka-cola probably existed before sunset sarsaparilla but at a smaller scale and let’s be honest nuka-cola would 100% lie i mean they have worked with the military to develop weapons and there secret recipe nuka-cola quantum there pride and joy. the nuka-cola company is definitely a lying company. That mysterious delivery robot is the same robot in the legend he’s the robot stocking vending machines and supermarkets but he’s everywhere and nowhere so seeing him is impossible which means he was a extremely new bot that was a unique and advanced bot that was extremely good at his job so for the company it was 100% worth it so this bot has a extremely different design than eny other robot in the fallout universe it’s design was probably armed with what who knows maybe because it’s armed no one tells the tail of the mysterious robot that travels the the roads of the old world and continues to stock the vending machines and stock the shelves doing what it was told to do.

  27. dreyton on July 7, 2023 at 1:44 pm

allen marks was the intruder and was dying from his injuries. he did not suffocate in a room lol

Although your theory (unless confirmed in the meantime) about the BOS label on the asset being on Obsidian forgetting to delete it, but it may have been on Zinamax/Bethesda. They could have said they gave them "sterilized" assets. I’m not sure if they could just pull them from Bethesda’s servers as they need them and probably had each one cataloged on orders from "the Lawyers" when giving them the lot of them. I could be very wrong, and it’s not a big deal in any way whatsoever, but I just thought of it and instead of it dissipating into the either, I figured I would share it in a place where someone MAY possibly find it interesting or provide more context.

Typos and other silliness is probably very much on Obsidian though, but it’s a heck of a job, so I don’t hold nite against them too much. I think they did a good job with the chance they had. It was a bit of a whiplash to have that FO1&2 feel and the very different environment, but if I at it as what it is instead of "Fallout 3.5", it feels much better to me. Like many things back then my expectations made my view of an anticipated event/experience kind of disappointing. Would love to really crazy big, nice overhaul mods too. Ok done blabberin

  31. Thatcher_the_dispatcher on July 7, 2023 at 1:46 pm

I assume the trucks would be self driving and festus is a central AI shipping them over nevada and the other models never made would have been in other states

  32. Ryan Andersen on July 7, 2023 at 1:46 pm

    So 2044 – 1918 = 63? I’m sorry public education failed you.

  33. FlippeR FlappeR on July 7, 2023 at 1:46 pm

Watching this while drinking Sarsaparilla Root Beer. Lmao

  34. Mark O on July 7, 2023 at 1:48 pm

Actually, I think it’s cannon now that part of the value of caps was a similar prize turn in for Nuka stuff? I might be bullshitting here but I remember that. Except Nuka apparently gave drinks or something useful.

  35. BearWithABowtie on July 7, 2023 at 1:48 pm

Fun fact, the turtle on the wall mentioned at 32:40, is most likely referencing the real propaganda turtle named "bert the turtle" to teach kids to duck and cover if there were ever a nuclear strike, during the cold war and the nuclear scare.

  36. Enlightener of Cryptozoology on July 7, 2023 at 1:50 pm

All this time I missed out on 2 star bottle caps just on her corpse?! There were nine right there?! Though I think I made up for my lack of observation by being suspicious of the next guy who told me of the star bottle caps. Though I like that one outcome of yours when talking to her and she attacks, EDE eyebot is like “I got this Oxhorn.” Fires a laser and decapitates her. XD star caps are like Fallout New Vegas’ version of blood diamonds.

  37. Naito Shinoda on July 7, 2023 at 1:53 pm

Maybe Festus is bought as both an advertisement tool and the head of the delivery department, and installed some remote-driving system to all of the trucks. That would explain Festus being used for delivery.

  38. Bots Weekend Covers on July 7, 2023 at 1:54 pm

    Fantastic Story man!

  39. Oxhorn on July 7, 2023 at 1:55 pm

So I counted the tick marks on the gun wrong. Also, there is no way to know exactly how many men he killed due to the way the game uses textures–it mirrors them on each side of the gun. So the texture has 38 tick marks, but since it is mirrored, the gun has 76. So he could have killed between 38 or 76 men.

Also, the difference between 1918 and 2044 is 126 years, not 63.

Thanks for clearing up the BoS label on the folder–this was due to a texture mod I had installed.

Finally, we’re forced to believe 1 of 2 options–that Festus replaced all delivery drivers, and continues to deliver the soda to machines to this day (which requires me to suspend too much of my disbelief, since he is an animatronic toy in a box), or that the company bought another, unnamed experimental robot truck driver (at the exact same time they bought Festus) which we never see in any trucks, nor anywhere else in any Fallout game. I’m not satisfied with either explanation, honestly.

  40. Musebore on July 7, 2023 at 1:55 pm

I was disappointed in the rewards, but its a nice lesson about greed (and I don’t use energy weapons). Maybe Festus is less a robot and more of an AI program that organized and managed the business?

  41. JD Goes Ham on July 7, 2023 at 1:57 pm

I played a very little bit of the first game but these lore vids of the games are great. I think this is the 6th one I’ve watched at night after climbing in bed and sparking up a J. The vids are very chill and if I fall asleep with the playlist on they’re all mostly the same vol level with not big vol blasts to wake us or the dog up(which wakes me up). It’s hard to find stuff like that to put on at night. And I need something playing. Usually an audiobook of a book I know really well so I don’t try to really listen to intently. Chill stuff like that are some of the best ways to fall asleep for me.

    Now i wonder..
..what happens if you go to the factory first?
Knowing the truth.. does the Jacklyn encounter change?
..can I tell her there is no prize at all and save her?🤔

  43. jaela known on July 7, 2023 at 1:59 pm

wow this guy is a tool – i didn’t know anyone’s pauses could be so pregnant

  44. OnFuegoDaKid 527 on July 7, 2023 at 2:00 pm

Didn’t’ Festus got rid of the need for distribution workers because he attracted costumers directly to the factory where the product is made? The customers in search of a prize reward would wind up there and end up buying the product (how the company thought it would work). Idk just a possible explanation aside from Bethesda being a big goof.

  45. Erland Drow on July 7, 2023 at 2:06 pm

The first time I played this game, I didn’t even know they fought each other and Jacklyn won. She ran a long way to reach me and said "There was some crazy guy trying to kill you. But I got him." And the rest of the dialogue is as if you helped her.

I pick pocketed her right after and took her caps. Surprisingly she didn’t shoot me for it.

  46. Ivan Garcia on July 7, 2023 at 2:06 pm

Hey if you want to reach higher up areas via a jetpack try drinking some canned coffee right before you hit the thrust, you will fly way higher and longer than normal, even over encumbered at your Carry Limit! 😁
