3:00 in 2021 there were somewhere around 120 murders citywide and an upwards of 140 murders county wide.

Albuquerque is a pretty big city but it is nothing compared to Los Angeles or Chicago. It is 1/6 the size of Los Angeles yet it has 1/3 of the crime.

Long time ago, we were driving thru New Mexico on our way home to Texas from a contract job my husband had completed in California, our son was 18 months old. It was Easter Sunday and lunchtime when we were driving thru Las Cruces, NM. I asked my husband to stop and find a Hotel so we could have a nice Easter Sunday meal even though I was wearing old comfy shorts and an old Mickey Mouse T-shirt. At the time there was only one Nice Hotel there or at least that’s all we found driving around and it was the Radisson. I saw people walking in dressed in their Sunday best like they were coming from church. I told my husband let’s just go and talk to them and see if they would let us eat there cause I was dressed so badly. My husband was dressed in some passable Docker pants and a short sleeve collard shirt and sneakers ( his usual dress in those days). When we walked in we went to the banquet room where they were having an Easter Buffet and spoke to the main cashier station at the entrance of the room. We explained that we were on the road just driving through and even though we weren’t dressed for Easter would we be allowed in. He said "of course you are welcome here
this is New Mexico!" Once inside the banquet room, I noticed it was much nicer than I tbought it was gonna be and the buffet lunch was laid out beautifully I asked to be seated in a corner where hopefully I couldn’t be seen (It was the first Easter Sunday I wasn’t dressed up and in church since childhood). I asked my husband to go through the buffet for me and bring my plate of food for me, I guess it’s all how your raised. We had a wonderful Easter Sunday lunch and I will never forget how warmly we were welcomed there on that Easter day. God Bless.

You named every major city in New Mexico lol

  5. Jeff Hicks on July 22, 2022 at 9:18 am

I have never been even threatened of any type of crime from anyone who is a native of New Mexico. They are very friendly people and love for you to come and enjoy their state but would rather you go back from where you came from. These people are definitely not interested in urban sprawl, overcrowded cities, dirty skies and transplanted assholes from other states, and those would be the ones that would bring crime to the state.

I am a life-long New Mexican and found this video interesting. There is much objective truth in your videos. I particularly enjoy the comments. I’ve never said this about any video ever. Makes me want to watch other states you may have videos on.

Do your city then cause that hurt

  19. satexman on July 22, 2022 at 9:28 am

I laughed when I saw this. So, basically….ALL OF THEM. Of course the definition of ‘city’ here is pretty liberal. NM ranks low in education and health and high in crime. It’s Mississippi…with mountains. And a lot of oil. Hard to imagine a state so rich in resources is just a trash heap with great scenery. But it is. Other than Mexico you can instantly improve your life prospects by crossing a state border in ANY DIRECTION.

  20. Rius_2011 on July 22, 2022 at 9:32 am

ABQ and gallup should not be on there and grants should

Like get your info right and everywhere has good and bad so show the right info don’t get confused and don’t make us sound bad when we really aren’t too bad of a place.

  29. The Servants of the Soul on July 22, 2022 at 9:41 am

The way I came across this video is because my band and I just produced a song a few weeks ago called "Santa Fe, New Mexico", that has nothing to do with Santa Fe, other than the fact that it’s a good place for lying low. I don’t know if it is, though, but it certainly seems like a really cool place to come visit and hang out. BTW Please check out our song if you can. Just go the sleeping tiger icon and it will bring you right to it. We’re a new band in Chicago, all our stuff is original, but this new version of this Santa Fe song may be my personal favorite.

  30. Thomas Geist on July 22, 2022 at 9:41 am

The population inside the official town limits of Taos is around 6000, however when including the greater Taos area it’s more like 20, 000.

    las vegas, new mexico?

  33. Summer Jones on July 22, 2022 at 9:47 am

This video basically just describes all of New Mexico. I moved to Placitas, NM from Canada when I was a kid in the mid 90’s and our family lived in an Adobe on the desert. I loved it there and we travelled all over NM and neighboring states on the weekends. I went to school in Placitas and I remember it wasn’t any worse than most Canadian schools. The people were some of the best people I ever met and I don’t remember kids ever being bullies, it was easy to make friends and play with kids. There was more poverty in certain places but still wonderful, kind and offbeat people. We knew a woman that lived in a tiny shack on the desert with 7 kids with no plumbing or electricity, it was like 3rd world living conditions. They were good people, just poor and I was friends with one of the girls. I feel like the meth problem blew up after I moved back to Canada. I remember my mom being on high alert when we visited Las Vegas and it looking a little rough around the edges. New Mexico is my favourite state but it’s also not for everyone, you either vibe with it or you don’t.

    I live in Albuquerque

  35. Dianna Guardian on July 22, 2022 at 9:47 am

Pick mostly small towns to bash and complain about, of course you are going to find bad things. Living in New Mexico all my life, I can see how you just pick and choose all the run down and oldest towns to talk about. That’s fine, we don’t want a bunch of bitching and moaning complainers living here anyway. New Mexico is a gem, with so many beautiful cultures, history, and kind people. We are proud of our beautiful state, and we know why it is indeed, The Land of Enchantment.

Wonder where the depressing narrator lives, the Moon perhaps !

  38. J Cee2 on July 22, 2022 at 9:48 am

I never found "D" bad. After rolling through it a dozen times before NM Interstate travel was built.
That was my childhood of visiting Nevada to experience the ground effect in public use areas of
exploding atomic bombs. So, in addition to being a park and pee destination, my parents would
keep an eye open for a recluse they knew had a post office box there. Never got the whole story.
Of a former N. Korea POW. His hard-won white marble stone must be in a NM cemetery..

Grants isn’t on here? Lol how?

  40. Michael Deierhoi on July 22, 2022 at 9:52 am

When you start with a title like The Ten worst places to live in New Mexico then you are immediately added to my ten worst channels on YouTube. The negativity of such a title is a total turn off to me and besides I live in New Mexico.

In fact I so dislike the premise of your I am removing it. Permanently! I never cared for your other videos either.

Have a good day. Maybe you can do that without finding something to complain about.

No, I think you got them all. Sorry honorable mentions. The nice areas in central NM burned down, Albuquerque is an open-air market for drugs, so the whole state is basically a write-off. Declare a disaster- get some Fed Assistance.
