The 10 Worst Cities in New Mexico | Places You Don't Want to Live in 2021
In this video, we take a look at the 10 worst cities in New Mexico. Using metrics like crime, poverty, schools, jobs, and overall liveability, we came up with our list.
We hope you enjoy, and please leave your comments. Is there a city we left out, or maybe you think there’s a city that shouldn’t be on the list? Either way, we want to hear from you, maybe even leave your own list of the ten worst cities in New Mexico.
3:00 in 2021 there were somewhere around 120 murders citywide and an upwards of 140 murders county wide.
Albuquerque is a pretty big city but it is nothing compared to Los Angeles or Chicago. It is 1/6 the size of Los Angeles yet it has 1/3 of the crime.
Long time ago, we were driving thru New Mexico on our way home to Texas from a contract job my husband had completed in California, our son was 18 months old. It was Easter Sunday and lunchtime when we were driving thru Las Cruces, NM. I asked my husband to stop and find a Hotel so we could have a nice Easter Sunday meal even though I was wearing old comfy shorts and an old Mickey Mouse T-shirt. At the time there was only one Nice Hotel there or at least that’s all we found driving around and it was the Radisson. I saw people walking in dressed in their Sunday best like they were coming from church. I told my husband let’s just go and talk to them and see if they would let us eat there cause I was dressed so badly. My husband was dressed in some passable Docker pants and a short sleeve collard shirt and sneakers ( his usual dress in those days). When we walked in we went to the banquet room where they were having an Easter Buffet and spoke to the main cashier station at the entrance of the room. We explained that we were on the road just driving through and even though we weren’t dressed for Easter would we be allowed in. He said "of course you are welcome here
this is New Mexico!" Once inside the banquet room, I noticed it was much nicer than I tbought it was gonna be and the buffet lunch was laid out beautifully I asked to be seated in a corner where hopefully I couldn’t be seen (It was the first Easter Sunday I wasn’t dressed up and in church since childhood). I asked my husband to go through the buffet for me and bring my plate of food for me, I guess it’s all how your raised. We had a wonderful Easter Sunday lunch and I will never forget how warmly we were welcomed there on that Easter day. God Bless.
How in the hell did Farmington not make it on this list
You named every major city in New Mexico lol
I have never been even threatened of any type of crime from anyone who is a native of New Mexico. They are very friendly people and love for you to come and enjoy their state but would rather you go back from where you came from. These people are definitely not interested in urban sprawl, overcrowded cities, dirty skies and transplanted assholes from other states, and those would be the ones that would bring crime to the state.
Give this guy a break. He said 10 worst. Next video “1,000 worst”. Will be much more accurate! 👍
These towns are actually enjoyable. Been to most of them.
Where’s espanola
I like the sexy background porn music
I am a life-long New Mexican and found this video interesting. There is much objective truth in your videos. I particularly enjoy the comments. I’ve never said this about any video ever. Makes me want to watch other states you may have videos on.
Sounds about right! Only Anthony is worse than reported! I was born and raised Las Cruces NM used to commute to Anthony Lots of gang crime! It is also the most federally funded!
The policer car shown for Socorro is from Socorro, Texas
Kirtland, New Mexico should be number one on this list for being home of the broncos 🤣🤣🤣😂
Democrat state,what do you expect???
Damn, how did Espanola not make it on this list? It should be at #1.
"Lone Survivor" was also filmed in NM for the same reason: It looks similar to Afganistan.
2:31 I live in ABQ and yes we have a meth problem but thanks for giving me another reason to go back to Alamogordo:)
Do your city then cause that hurt
I laughed when I saw this. So, basically….ALL OF THEM. Of course the definition of ‘city’ here is pretty liberal. NM ranks low in education and health and high in crime. It’s Mississippi…with mountains. And a lot of oil. Hard to imagine a state so rich in resources is just a trash heap with great scenery. But it is. Other than Mexico you can instantly improve your life prospects by crossing a state border in ANY DIRECTION.
ABQ and gallup should not be on there and grants should
It’s funny my friend Lives in California went to Toas New Mexico a week ago and got a job wow
Live in another state. You will be back. The grass is never greener on the other side. NM is beautiful!!!
Like get your info right and everywhere has good and bad so show the right info don’t get confused and don’t make us sound bad when we really aren’t too bad of a place.
bro where’s questa
I am from New Mexico and the lack of jobs is why left and moved to Colorado. But I really miss New Mexico. I am moving back home when I retire.
How the hell is Taos on here?
How did Hobbs not make this list? 🙂
This was spot on
The way I came across this video is because my band and I just produced a song a few weeks ago called "Santa Fe, New Mexico", that has nothing to do with Santa Fe, other than the fact that it’s a good place for lying low. I don’t know if it is, though, but it certainly seems like a really cool place to come visit and hang out. BTW Please check out our song if you can. Just go the sleeping tiger icon and it will bring you right to it. We’re a new band in Chicago, all our stuff is original, but this new version of this Santa Fe song may be my personal favorite.
The population inside the official town limits of Taos is around 6000, however when including the greater Taos area it’s more like 20, 000.
At least Albuquerque has a Fudruckers
las vegas, new mexico?
This video basically just describes all of New Mexico. I moved to Placitas, NM from Canada when I was a kid in the mid 90’s and our family lived in an Adobe on the desert. I loved it there and we travelled all over NM and neighboring states on the weekends. I went to school in Placitas and I remember it wasn’t any worse than most Canadian schools. The people were some of the best people I ever met and I don’t remember kids ever being bullies, it was easy to make friends and play with kids. There was more poverty in certain places but still wonderful, kind and offbeat people. We knew a woman that lived in a tiny shack on the desert with 7 kids with no plumbing or electricity, it was like 3rd world living conditions. They were good people, just poor and I was friends with one of the girls. I feel like the meth problem blew up after I moved back to Canada. I remember my mom being on high alert when we visited Las Vegas and it looking a little rough around the edges. New Mexico is my favourite state but it’s also not for everyone, you either vibe with it or you don’t.
I live in Albuquerque
Pick mostly small towns to bash and complain about, of course you are going to find bad things. Living in New Mexico all my life, I can see how you just pick and choose all the run down and oldest towns to talk about. That’s fine, we don’t want a bunch of bitching and moaning complainers living here anyway. New Mexico is a gem, with so many beautiful cultures, history, and kind people. We are proud of our beautiful state, and we know why it is indeed, The Land of Enchantment.
From Deming, i completely agree but the Chaparral Elementary school is fucking amazing
Wonder where the depressing narrator lives, the Moon perhaps !
I never found "D" bad. After rolling through it a dozen times before NM Interstate travel was built.
That was my childhood of visiting Nevada to experience the ground effect in public use areas of
exploding atomic bombs. So, in addition to being a park and pee destination, my parents would
keep an eye open for a recluse they knew had a post office box there. Never got the whole story.
Of a former N. Korea POW. His hard-won white marble stone must be in a NM cemetery..
Grants isn’t on here? Lol how?
When you start with a title like The Ten worst places to live in New Mexico then you are immediately added to my ten worst channels on YouTube. The negativity of such a title is a total turn off to me and besides I live in New Mexico.
In fact I so dislike the premise of your I am removing it. Permanently! I never cared for your other videos either.
Have a good day. Maybe you can do that without finding something to complain about.
You mean the "Land of Entrapment"!
There you have it folks keep voting for Democrats in new Mexico and this is what you get poverty and low income and poor education no housing or resources
Bro lordsburg nm is the worst worse than deming
This video feels like an imitation of Nick Johnson’s YouTube channel.
Exactly espania was my guess on worst town or city, I’m sure los lunas n meadowlake and cerro mission would be on there now lol
I’m live in Farmington and moved to abq and almost died by a bomb
And I’m surprised that Rio Rancho wasn’t on the list
Funny how the cover picture is from Arizona but y’all are supposed to be experts
The first Christians entered Nm. The first churches the first Native apts. you name it is began in Nm,. The ppl are good. The poster is racist. They are mad th ey wil not vote gop. the ppl help other there. Spanish culture rules. so does the native culture.
No, I think you got them all. Sorry honorable mentions. The nice areas in central NM burned down, Albuquerque is an open-air market for drugs, so the whole state is basically a write-off. Declare a disaster- get some Fed Assistance.
