I liked the walk. Grew up in Scottsdale. Visited 2 years ago. Drove up South Mt. What the heck its closed at sun down. Got there before  sun down. My last night there I want to go to Hole In the Rock. It closes at sun down. Crap. What happened to Phoenix? Regulations. Is it the ex Californians?

Awesome thanks for the tour, there’s a mine ( not sure of the name) West of South Mountain out I-10 , take the Miller Rd ext. Follow it NW for @1.5 mi. It’s on a North facing slope in a saddle @ 1/2 mi. North of I -10. Buckeye / basically.

The tunnel at 6:35 goes really far back. The one on top with the pole and rope is even more extensive. There are tons of drifts and open stopes inside there. I have been inside of it a few times with a buddy of mine. If you decide to go inside be very careful and go with someone else to enjoy it. Watch for rattle snakes. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve actually been inside those mineshafts. The main shaft goes down quite a ways. I have videos of it on my channel.

I actually have a claim in Idaho and was seriously considering another claim around Arizona, Colorado, Nevada area to winter in and still keep digging gold. If you have any local knowledge, maybe you could advise ??? 🤔

South Mountain was our Inspiration Point back in my high school days.

I remember when of most of Phoenix looked like this. Thats 15 min from my house i like to go up there and pretend millions of people didn’t move in next door. I think the main mine adit is just behind that fireplace. Lots of rattlers out there.

the rock you call cement, is actually called "callitche". its formed from calsium of dead animals. and sea cretures that whole area was a sea bed millions and millions years ago it can be found one inch to one hundred feet below the surface. that why alot of arizona homes dont have a basement. its too diffacult and costly to dig through.
