The “Route of the Silver Kings” is an auto-driving tour through the mostly abandoned mining district of Leadville, CO.
Leadville had a giant mining industry for well over 100 years and this tour will take you to a crap-ton of abandoned mines and settlements in the mountains surrounding Leadville. It’s wayyyyy up there y’all…the people aren’t the only things that are high in Colorado.
I’m a mine explorer in Colorado I’ll be making my way up there this summer if you want to join nice video!
I could look around Leadville for days. There are so many mines and so much to see.
Hey man I just moved to leadville at the beginning of the school year I’ve been loving all the history and places to explore if you’d like to talk about it or meet up and explore shoot me a message
No…not the Eliza mine….the one with the tram is the New Monarch ore bin and mine, at one time partly owned by JJ Brown, Molly’s husband….
Another place I would love to explore is Gilman Colorado.
Colorado history IS mining history. That becomes true the deeper you dig (pun intended). Good footage with intact structures.
Gas up before going up there, I bet you’d want a little survival kit in case you broke an axle, too 😕
I ran 7 miles through there, and got a lot of cool pictures of the old mines. Going back this October. Love the smell of the Aspen trees and the cooler weather.
The ore house with the tressel is the New Monarch ore bin.
Nice video. Thank you!
Leadville is one of my favorite towns in Colorado. So much history. The "unsinkable" Molly Brown, Doc Holiday and many more folks made their mark in this beautiful town.
