Revisiting Tonopah-Belmont Silver Mine | + the Morning Star & W.W. Enterprize

Today, we head out on a familiar trail through the Belmont Mountains. While the Tonopah-Belmont Mine will be the main focus, we’ll also visit the smaller W.W. Enterprize prospect & the Morning Star Mine along our 16 mile loop.

The Tonopah-Belmont (operated 1904-1960s) was a productive silver, gold, lead, and copper mine located in a rugged section of the broader Big Horn Mountains. The area contains numerous remnants of past operations — including 12,000 feet of workings and many large concrete ruins. The area has plenty of great history that makes a trip today worthwhile and informative.

Been exploring and quail hunting in that area off and on since the mid ’80s. Ventured inside the Belmont many times before it was blocked off. Interesting information! Where did you find it?

We’ve been watching your videos for about a year, and we love the laid-back style and thoroughness of research you do on the mines and their history. Thank you for putting these videos together. Looking forward to seeing the next one!

Nice documentation of these mines! It was great that you returned a few years after your initial visit to do this.

I rode out there May of last year and found the gate inside the mine vandalized. It appeared to be recent from the tools left behind. I reported it to the Arizona State Mine Inspector’s Office, but apparently they haven’t been able to fix it yet. In the meantime, people should avoid any temptations to enter – thanks for noting the two past deaths in this mine as an example of the danger. And thanks again for another great video – the references at the end are a nice touch too!
