benitoite is genuinely one of the most underrated gemstones on the market.
It’s extremely rare both in terms of physical crystal total amounts available and in terms of its crystal structure.

was dude really that excited about this place being an old WW2 prison camp? does he not know who was imprisoned in california during WW2? Japanese americans were unlawfully imprisoned during WW2 out of fear. which most likely ended up here to be used as slaves. and this dude is excited about that shit? im guessing he is just stupid and doesnt realize where he is.

I’ve become obsessed with Benitoite while searching for a Christmas present for my mother. I really would love to try a hand at this gem mine.

This place rocks so much. My girlfriend found a nice sized dark blue gemmy Benitoite on the matrix along with some other cool finds. I got some cool benitoites too and even a stoney. We’re definitely going back when we can make it out there again. Thank you for posting this video, or we would of never even known this place existed.

Sad thing is they already pull out the good stuff, and your left looking through the leftovers.

Bro, the piece you have in your hand at 4:35 looks like it has benitoite in it, it’s very similar to some pieces I found during my trip there. I almost cried when I saw you throw it on the ground :<

You probably missed a trick here – because the best crystals are often hidden beneath the Natrolite, along with Neptunite and Joaquinite – with no visible mineralisation visible from the sides of the Natrolite. So if I had been there I would have looked for the bigger pieces showing Natrolite and processed them at home. I have purchased material back when the mine was commercially operated and John Veevart had obtained about a ton of material as unprocessed rough. I still have some to process and wanted to purchase another kilo or so when I learned that that biggest Benitoite fan had died in a car crash…

Signs on wall as he enters in and out of UV room – “eye protection required” and “face mask required” and yet he has neither on while in room..have to love people who feel they are above “the rules” 🙄

I found a bag of benitoite dirt I had forgotten I bought back around 2008. I went through it thoroughly with a long and short wave UV light. I found several pieces that glowed both orange and blue. Does anyone know what the orange is?
