Phosphate mining

Phosphate mining

Phosphate fertilizer is one of the biggest threats to our environment. Not only is it polluting our lakes and rivers all over this planet, but the EPA has publicly stated that the way they mine and produce the fertilizer is one of the most toxic industries in the United States.

Outside of using it for drywall phosphate is also used for creating fertilizers that allow us to feed more people on fewer acres of land. This global trend has been a huge boom for the environment and reforestation.

That doesn’t discredit the author of this video and the opportunities to improve this process.

Also the line about the Florida Aquifer belonging to all of us is a typical indicator of the tragedy of the commons—for which there are lots of videos on YouTube.

This shit is what is contributing to the red tide thats killing all the sea life and making many many people sick. This will effect the meat and game that florida has as the food chain will pass along the toxic brevotoxins from the algea and sugar and farming and the bullshit 18 year delay we have on buying back lake okachobee land from sugar companies so the water can filter through the everglades as it should to clean is the main reason we are seeing this. It so sad to see Corporate America and this narrative of the almighty dollar destroying our world, it has to change im sick of these twisted narrative god or money time for humanity to grow up and stop looking at the sky for answers and focus on the sess pool we are creating and make a better cleaner earth as earth is our home, mother and the only god we should really show respect to as she gives us life and everything we are and have, stop worshipping invisible shit while destroying what we already have. Corporations and clergy are the two last great evils that stop humanity from stretching its legs and learning to live as a Type 1 civilisation so lets get on with it already atleast we have hope the internet will save us from ignorance before we all die off for nothing.

On the other hand, if I was USA I would preserve my own phosphorite reserves and use the ones of other countries.

Without phosphate fertilizer to make the green revolution possible, millions of people around the world would starve. No fertilizer, no food. Literally.

  31. E-Racer on May 12, 2022 at 11:12 pm

My dad mined phosphate/Muck in the early sixties here in Tennessee and the land that was mined is some of the most beautiful land here. I can’t speak for how they do it now but back then they put all the topsoil back where they had removed it from.

Fertilizer made from phosphate has increased our produce over 60% from the last 30 years 40 years if they did not mine phosphate people would starve more than they already are so quit crying you dimwit!

  34. Manuel Fernandez on May 12, 2022 at 11:20 pm

Do you know that famine would spread over the world if phosphorite was not explored? A good alternative should be based on the Bill Gates toilets that can recycle phosphorous,

  35. sleepingtiger on May 12, 2022 at 11:23 pm

is this particularly relevant today (phosphate flooding)

i was Born and Raised Here in illinois and we had Suface Strip coal Mines And during the Mining opereation Reclamation was going on all at the same Time and Never once Did we ever have have sink holes appear During and after the coal mines was in business and was also Born and Raised on a Farm but thats the least of my problems and i have watched severeal Many Vidoes of Mosiac Complaints of Surface strip Mining for phosphate and that does Supply us Farmers but at the same time Mosiac is Guitly on their Behalf simply Because if they want to Surface Strip Mine For the Phosphate then thats on them but at the Same time they are Failing on their End and not listening to the public Further more and also at the same they are Destroying the Natural Habitat Land and Failing to not be Doing Reclamation and Putting it Back to its Natural Habitat From Start one like it was to start with like any other Normal Surface Strip and dont understand the Risk Factor futher more and dont understand that its Contaminating the water Down in the Earths Aquafer and further more and That Technically they Are in Violation of by State And Federal Law and Further more and that The Enviroment protection Agency is in Violation By State and Federal Law as well at that by letting them Surface strip Mine for Phosphate ore and Not Following the EPA Stricked Rules at that and are Stated and written in the Book by Far.

They have mines in Polk County, Hillsborough, Manatee, and Hardee, and now are pushing for more in DeSoto County, which is directly North of Charlotte County and next to Sarasota.

  43. Brandon Lee on May 12, 2022 at 11:35 pm

Everything looks good except the the part "plants does not need phosphate to grow" that’s at lie. 8:27, we are running out of phosphorus, because large consumption.

  44. Justin Curless on May 12, 2022 at 11:40 pm

Phosphate Mining is all well and good but at the same time and common sense and doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist to be doing Reclamation and putting the Mining sights back to its normal state like it was to Start with plain and put forth effort and not leave it half ass It doesn’t work that way it’s only fare to the wild life so they can live a normal life and not be in harm’s way…!!!!

  45. Randy Wiggins on May 12, 2022 at 11:41 pm

Over population number one problem. Can a person buy this reclaimed land? How about the hey let’s just shoot waste water into aquafier crowd? They say aquafier will filter it naturally.
