There used to be a dude that sold crystals at the great full dead concerts. Giant quartz and others. He wore this hat that looked like an old boot.

Quartz hunting is so fun to do out here 🙂

You can literally find them just lying on the ground, big and small.

  16. mike groves on April 3, 2022 at 3:27 am

I am just guessing but the formation rocks look like chalice and I am guessing these are found close to the caprock and of course close to the Pecos river. My neck of the woods, but I have never heard of these until now.

You found some amazing one’s. I love the variety they have to offer for crystal. Seems like every few miles offers a different flavor. Never see the same crystal types I collect in the videos I watch for Pecos Diamonds.

  43. Moldy Cheese on April 3, 2022 at 4:05 am

And I just remembered! If you get yourself a permit, you can drive down to a river (I can’t remember it’s name) and get yourself some Ammonite fossils. It’s where we went to get some rocks for a construction project we’re doing. There are some cows and a few bulls down there, so be wary.

I feel like it was Rio Felix but a spot on the river that you can’t navigate to using google Maps.
