A simple google search says that a puncture greater than 1/4 inch or 6mm cannot be repaired. This also comes from tire selling folks so maybe you could patch it for a larger breach but your going to compromise the structural integrity of the tire. I don’t pretend to know what he did besides sew a scaffolding in it and layer patch materials on it but for it to remain air tight it needs original material on all sides with enough force from the tire to press a plug into the hole without it ever losing air again even under normal wear and tear (road conditionz)
Id run it on slow farm equipment thats a good point but in no way will i use or even see one of these used on the road, im not a stickler for alot of the rules like airbags n shit but wear your seatbelt and make sure your tires and brakes work properly.
PSA to all JUNKYARD/SCRAPYARD enthusiasts: Make sure to check the sidewall on any tires you get from there. A lot of times the yards will leave the tires out in the sun all day and if you see cracks of any kind on the walls don’t even consider getting the tire.
I can’t lie that looks very legit especially with the machine at the end. I’d imagine the process is used elsewhere though I’ve never seen anything like that done in the US
research rubber, he re-vulcanized the rubber. it should work but, how much did the time and labor cost to repair this vs buying a used tire like new for under 20$ in the hood 🙂
Used to work repairing tires if the side has a hole in it u gotta get a new 1 no patch or plug gon work
Well your kinda right and kinda wrong. Even monster equipment… some of the largest tires in the world are repaired exactly like this.
I’d use it, but I’d be finding a new tire asap
I agree
Nope! I was told that I probably had a hole in my tire…cause kept deflating & was suggested to get it patched….NOPE..NEW TIRE!

True dat
It will hold its called vulcanized same process that the tire is made
Same type of dude would sell retreads to a trucker… 🙄
Boy you tire me out..🥱
my husband changed tires for 5 yrs. He said in VA it’s illegal to patch or plug the sidewall of a tire.
Thank you for your advice, mister.
Seems like you could just compensate less with reducing the PSI (lbs⬛️🤏) 🤷♂️
I wouldn’t put on a barge
I was a tire expert, his shit fucked. Don’t send that

For not claiming to be a tire expert you’re really talking like a tire expert
ROOT BEER NOO
My buddy who’s been a tire tech for years sounds and looks just like this guy lol
The video should end once you said you weren’t a tire expert.
Every respectable mechanic will tell you they don’t patch a tire with side wall puncture. Spend the money and get a new tire for your life and safety.
Es un saca-pedos!!!
Speak for yourself bruh, out here in Nigeria we drive on tires with worse patches and they hold firm through the most brutal abuses.
Or you just buy a new one

I was a tire technician. Side wall damage equals instant throw out.
I know nothing about cars but I know to buy a new component when it breaks and don’t DIY something that could get you or someone else killed.
Damn bro just buy another tire☠️
I can’t lie that looks very legit especially with the machine at the end. I’d imagine the process is used elsewhere though I’ve never seen anything like that done in the US
Im no breathing expert but-
Why try to save 100 bucks if you’re on the highway and it goes out you can flip your car in Die
Exactly
In no way shape or form does America actually give a flying FAWK who you are
When you’re going 70mph, you don’t want to risk your life for a few dollars.
Just said your not a tire expert.
"it just moves enTIREly way too much"
The fact that the patcher was putting more holes into the tire already is a red flag.
Actually does look like a really good patch.. But yeah, never trust a side wall patch. Good farm trailer tire
Shoutout to them not putting any weight on the finished patch, just gently brushing it.
I’ve been running a patched tire about a week now punching 60 on the freeway 💀
Tire. Expert. mmky.
There is no microscopic bond so it will blow out when all the weight goes on that one tire

Hell to da nah
Dude. This guy has a complete tire refurbishing system and machines used to cure rubber. I think he knows alittle more than you in this field.
There are millions of ways to patch a tire and… this is just not the best
Just buy new tires at this point 🤦🏽♀️
they do this to those mega dump trucks
