Northern California to me is about as good as it gets. There are so many places to visit within a couple hour drive. You could start your day on the beach, do some wine tasting in Napa, and get into the Mountains and snow later that afternoon. In-between there are gems that few know about, but are incredible. Today we look at 5 of these hidden gems that Northern California offers.

Our channel is amazing. It’s true because I wrote this statement and I also make the videos. The channel is all about ditching the comforts of home for adventure, travel, outdoors, and life lived in whatever way suites you best. We (my wife and 3 kids) sold everything we owned a while back to travel full-time in a small travel trailer. After that we moved back into a regular home to find more adventures in new ways.

You may want to go further up the coast. There are great restaurants in Eureka, Arcata, and Trinidad. A few things to see are Patrick’s Point, Trinidad Beach, Fern Canyon, and Old Town Eureka.

We do plan to RV to California and your list is very helpful. It both informs and excites. California Tourism should pay you royalties and use this video. They could hire a great film editor — you — to turn this into s lot of small snippets and buy time on the high-tech gas pumps that play videos while you pump out here east of the Mississippi River.

Wrong Fort Bragg cute touristy town, North Coast brewery, stop at Noyo Fish co. fresh local fish, hike and camp inside Russian gultch- waterfalls Redwoods, Mendocino coast drive is amazing.
Petroglyph is what they are on the boulders. They are in Mendocino too, and are amazing……You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself, just so you know. This is the first video of yours I have seen. I rather enjoyed learning about places I live close enough to consider checking out myself. I will be watching more, and… go figure, you weren’t even smoking a cigar. (giggles)
you got to make new videos now its 2021 we had the fire’s in 2020 I don’t know whats left to do in California anymore i dont know what the fire didnt burn down so update us with new videos for 2021

Nor cal looks nice. Apparently a lot of people who live in California want to leave the state. I guess they all live in the bad cities
I wish people would stop saying that Napa is like the wine region of California because there’s actually lots of really great wine regions in California and maybe it’s maybe one of the most well-known but it’s definitely not the biggest anymore or the best. Best being subjective obviously but it’s definitely not the largest producer of wine. Grapes are actually sourced from all over California just because they’re bottled in a city like Napa or something doesn’t mean they’re all grown there.

How about the material used to build Folsom Dam? At one time they had a train which ran from Folsom Dam to the rock quarry and back, that’s all it did back and forth. The rock quarry was located just outside of Cool, Ca, All that is left of the tracks is the trussel that crossed the American River up in Auburn,Ca. They call it a walking bridge now, the tracks have been removed, leaving only a dirt trail for hikers, I used to have a picture of a passenger bridge just south of the trussel that was used by the people and their horses and buggies to cross the river.

I can’t imagine trying this hard at pointless image endeavors. This video showcases the attitude that has left California in need of fleeing. I’m sure you’re insulated from the extreme nonsense in the northern areas, but I would need emergency attention from a straight talking, no b.s. easterner after a single weekend.

Try hiway 49 south of 50, like Dry-town, or Suttercreek. Both of which were gold mining towns. Now you can drive through the main part of town and see all the tourist stuff, or you could go to the outskirts of either of these towns and see how much of the ore was transported to the towns for processing, on what I would call cable cams. You’ll see the wooden pole structures coming from the foothills into the town. To get to the outskirts, just make a left on any street from the main road and follow it out of town, you’ll see big beautiful houses, lots of fields, lots of grapes, and if you look towards the foothills you’ll see the foundations, and the poles of the cable cams. The cables are missing but you’ll see the direction they come from. Yes, Northern California has lots of history, and to see it you’ll need to get off the main roads. I’ve lost more photos, I took from years of research I used to do on the untold stories of Northern California and it’s mining history.

CA is the best! Our family loves Bodega Dunes and Grover Hot Springs park, both only about a 2 hour drive from Sacramento. Empire Mine is also a good one for a day trip with kids. Enjoy California, we live in paradise!

They used hammer stones also i try and pick up history before they bulldoze it into dust here in Bartrams Train in Georgia P.S. I wish i never left california in 73. I did go back to Sonoma wine country and left there loaded with all house wines. Dang it was nice loved it.
Now most of the wine we can find in Georgia tastes like it came from the spit bucket.

Last year we drove up 89 from Tahoe to Lassen and it was amazing. I love that whole area. Lots of cool stuff and small towns on that route. So much better than taking I-5 North.

I asked myself once " Was there ever a dam built on the American River before the Folsom Dam?" Answer is YES, It was a overflow dam, where the water was allowed to flow over, but it still diverted water to another direction, That little dam was just upstream of Folsom Prison. Back in the day Folsom Prison generated electricity for the city of Sacramento. You can find the dam on Google earth, But you can’t visit it because it is behind the fence on the prison property. You might get pictures, but you’ll have to walk along the bike trail to get them. Taking pictures of prison property might raise some questions, so be careful.
