Nikola Jokic Got Mad & THIS HAPPENED

Nikola Jokic Got Mad & THIS HAPPENED

With 3 minutes to go the Nuggets are down by 11. With their coach already thrown out of the game, and playing against a streaking Pelicans team, this looks like a loss.
Only thing is, it sure didn’t look that way to Nikola Jokic.
So let me show you what happens when you make the Joker mad. What up everybody, my name is Stefan and this is Heat Check. Let’s get into it.
The Serbian decided that he would go to the rim at all costs and he would not be stopped.
As they say, slowly but surely, this is literally the image for that.
On this drive, as he barrels in the paint, we see that there are 4 guys around him but none of them is able to do anything as Jokic lays it in and gets the foul.
He scored 30 points in the 4th quarter and overtime on 10 for 11 from the field and 9-9 from the free throw line. Look at his totals: 46 point triple double on 70% shooting. Wait what?! This is unstoppable.
And right here as the Pelicans throw a double team at him, look at how calm and composed he is. You can see that the double team has no effect on him whatsoever. Never in a rush, he sees the floor and eventually delivers the perfect pass to the cutting Gordon for the dunk.
Again in OT. Invites the double team, waits and waits to find the right moment for the bounce pass and look at how much room there is for Monte Morris to knock this down.
Aaand when you do that 2 or 3 times in a row, now the defense expects the same thing, so in this situation, check out how he catches the entire defense by surprise with this spin along the baseline, and you can see there’s nobody underneath so he just casually reverses this layup going 2 miles an hour. Amazing.
Dude almost won the game in regulation after that epic comeback btw.
First, down by 2 he gets fouled and has to make 2 free throws with the game on the line.
But look at his face, this is not a guy under pressure, he’s actually bored.
So as he ties it up, New Orleans have to go the length of the floor here, they throw a long pass and Nikola intercepts it. In this scramble he finds Green under the basket who rushed this shot and this is how they got to overtime.
From that point on tho, Denver cruised to the win, led by their MVP.
Speaking of that however, the MVP race is closer than you may think. Even tho a bunch of people were quick to give it to Embiid already, check this out.
Joel basically only holds a 3.5 point per game lead over Jokic. Nikola on the other hand has 2.5 more rebounds per game, 3.5 more assists per game, and a mind blowing 57.1% from the field, by far the best out of the top 20 scorers in the NBA.
And yeah for those that keep looking at the standings and saying that team success matters.
Well, Philly is number 2 in the east but if you look at the actual record it’s only 1.5 game difference so this is essentially a wash. All of that while playing without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. He is literally dragging this team to the playoffs by himself.
I’m not hating on Embiid, he’s been a monster, and I may still end up going with him at the end of the season. But that’s the point I’m trying to make. This is a close race and we’ll probably have to wait until the end of the season to crown a winner. Maybe it’s Joel, but maybe it’s Nikola or even Giannis.
But whatever happens, I have to emphasize again, we can not underestimate the level of play that Jokic has held throughout the entire season especially with the team that he has at the moment. And if you ask his teammates, this is what they would say:
Let me know in the comments if you knew that the 2 big men were this close statistically, and who is your pick for the MVP so far. That’s it for now, subscribe and talk to you in the next one. Peace out.

Joker should be at Dallas or Luka at Denver, they would be great together

  4. T_Fitzo on February 28, 2023 at 6:45 pm

don’t forget Luka too. He’s playing out of his mind lately and is creeping up on the others

It’s not close between Joel and joker Joel is also a contender for defensive player of the year on top of the stats and the records are similar but the east is a blender compared to the west

When did Steph fall out of the race? Or was he ever in it this season?

Personally I would not say that Jokic nor any player carries a whole team. This hero ball/carrying teams stuff isn’t good for team chemistry. Obviously Jokic is the most efficient player on our Nuggets team but he also makes us play better via his spacing and passing but it takes discipline to cut for the ball and hit open shots and our team does that. I love our team effort and all of the players are working extremely hard and yes Jokic should be the overall mvp if you go by statistics. But no player in the NBA nor its history has been carrying any team alone. Shoutout to all NBA players contributing and working hard to help their teams win.

Jokic and Embiid both have good narratives, which seems to be something that’s often looked for. Embiid is the best player on a team that was chugging along nicely despite missing a top tier starter for most of the season, and has now exploded into legitimate contention thanks to the Harden acquisition. Jokic is basically dragging his team to the playoffs – not even exaggeration; I’m pretty sure last time I checked he had the highest winshare by about 2 games (that is, his influence has basically "won" 2 more games than anyone else; I believe his stat was about 10 or 11).

If you look at the raw stats though, has to be Jokic. The only argument that could be made against that is that Embiid has better players around him that siphon off some of his potential stats, but that doesn’t explain how Jokic – a fellow center – has such a huge assist average (8.1 apg). That’s not typically a stat associated with centers. That’s the kind of stat that comes from being MVP calibre.

If you look at advanced stats, then jokic would have a bigger lead over embiid.

  18. Romnys Gonzalez on February 28, 2023 at 7:04 pm

Untuck Jokic is the most unstoppable player in the NBA. Once that Jersey is off you know the game is over

Giving it to Embiid over Jokic would be a pity award since Jokic has been clearly better with at lot worse team and missing his 2 main weapons

  19. M4rio21 on February 28, 2023 at 7:04 pm

Jokic is the only player I don’t need a replay on. He shoots and moves in slow motion but no one can stop him lol.

    God bless…

I say that Jokic and Giannis are above Embiid.
Why? Both can impact the game, even when not scoring the ball.
Giannis should receive more hype because he is not a Center. He is facing bigger players, entire defenses and still can have the same daily impact.
Jokic to me is the MVP for now. Why? He is the one doing the most with less. This Denver team is worse than Orlando without Jokic.
Jokic seems to have the ability to win without scoring as much as he can more often than both Embiid and Giannis.
Jokic has played by himself for almost two seasons and his stats look almost the same.

  22. Bregozy on February 28, 2023 at 7:06 pm

You fail to mention that Embiid has a higher winning percentage tho

  23. John Smith on February 28, 2023 at 7:07 pm

Jokic is currently leading in VORP, PER and win shares, so he gets my vote. Embiid is 3rd in all categories, behind Giannis.
The same player has led in all three categories 20 times in the past 40 season. 15 of those years (including last year), that player was named MVP. The five exceptions are Derrick Rose in 2011 (LeBron led in all categories), Hakeem in 1994 (Robinson led in all categories), Barkley in 1993 (MJ led in all categories), and Magic in 1990 and 1989 (MJ again).

Never seen anyone like Jokic before, I grew up watching Jordan’s Bulls, Kobes Lakers and the Sacramento Kings with Divac and Stojakovic… it was a really special time for basketball but what I’m seeing from this man is something I have never seen before. This man was born to play basketball.

With the nuggets saying that MPJ would be back come playoff time and Jamal could be coming back for the playoffs too the nuggets gonna be lethal

Joker literally sleepwalking his way to mvp and a finals run… it’s not even a contest. It never has been , my mans been robbed.

id go with jokic since he is playing and winning without 2 of their best players unlike embid which has a full lineup

  34. BosomNogomPanjIzvali on February 28, 2023 at 7:18 pm

Not, it is not a close race! Jokic is No1 right now, just by looking at numbers. Simply far from being even close. And look how Denver perform with Jokic on and off the court, it’s saying enough.

  35. GG on February 28, 2023 at 7:19 pm

Been awhile since I’ve seen someone so unfazed by a double team.

  36. Steve Gaudin on February 28, 2023 at 7:19 pm

    this outro is whack yo

  37. Jacopo Notarberardino on February 28, 2023 at 7:20 pm

You need 1000 Embiid to make 1 Jokic

  38. Alare on February 28, 2023 at 7:22 pm

Jokic definitely deserves to be number 1 in MVP at the moment. What he’s been doing all season is crazy. He could take any team to the playoffs.

  39. Neptune tK on February 28, 2023 at 7:25 pm

Good sombor shuffle attempt friend this video is great didn’t realize the 76ers record was that close to the nuggets record

  40. RoboTube on February 28, 2023 at 7:27 pm

He is not slow he just looks like that. That is called illusion. He is slow only when he disposes of his guards. but make no mistake- he is fast af on that roll when he escapped those two.

  41. Jekub B on February 28, 2023 at 7:29 pm

jokic has to be one of the most unique players to ever play! post bigs who make plays is nothing new but his aggressiveness scoring the ball combined with the passing vision is uniquely his! for a back to the basket guy anyway! i also think hes mvp over embid! his style of play! his durability! his availability! you take him off that team and they are one of the worst teams in the league by far! with injuries and just their roster! hes mvp in my eyes! i want giannis to win it tho!

  42. zikocult on February 28, 2023 at 7:31 pm

Jokic is the MVP if Giannis doesn’t say anything, but Embiid will win it.

  43. R M on February 28, 2023 at 7:33 pm

not even that close tbh. Every defensive stat I’ve found has jokic literally just behind embiid. And embiid efficiency is much much lower than jokics. Its not even close. But narratives decide these things.

  44. John Vparty Octavio on February 28, 2023 at 7:34 pm
