Just think how many places similar to this probably exist. It was common throughout history to bury valuables. Some people buried it to use throughout their own lives and to leave to their kids and some cultures even believed that whatever treasures you buried could be used by them in the afterlife. For instance Vikings believed exactly that and quite a few Viking hoards have been found over the years all over England, Ireland, Scandinavian countries, etc. Just imagine how many people buried stuff and died before being able to collect it. Some of it will never be found. Some of it will be found by some lucky basstid in the future. If I ever become rich, id like to bury some gold and cash and coins and leave little clues online and whoever finds it gets it. That would be awesome.

I remember on the second episode of the Unsolved Mysteries special they said that an a man in the Air Force had written his name, rank and the date on the wall of the cavern in the 1960s. They also interviewed a man who said he helped Noss dig up some of his hidden gold bars.

whether there is treasure or not it shows how much contempt governments have for us. Ok the military need secrecy but there must be miles of "lea way" they must know its leased by guys who think there is billions there but they still need to take it.
This story has always been my favorite Unsolved Mysteries episode.
Although it is attractively romantic, the notion of “fingers keepers” is without basis. Both provenance and ownership is chaotic and potentially dangerous and corrupt. I love treasure stories and hunters. Everyone of them rails against authorities seizing the assets, but simultaneously insist that it is unilaterally theirs. Somebody is going to lose out. I realize you put this out a year ago but it’s strange where ever large amounts of gold of silver has been found the place began a base it happened 3 times in Florida also in Nevada and several other States I also had something similar happen to me I found a Large treasure but only to have it taken from me by government people
I realize this country is better than most but in America are we truly free. Our government has become tyrannical and they only look out for themselves not us. They lie to us they hide stuff from us they waste our money they steal from us hell we don’t even know if we got a fair election. I’m watching the series on Discovery Channel. I truly believe Doc noss made this up. If that much gold and artifacts were really in the mountain it would have take a massive caravan of horses and people and if that happened there must be camp sites and artifacts that a archeologists would easily be able to find. Also with all these large stories of hidden treasures would have to involve massive man power which would mean many people would no that it was hidden and the location and surly come back for it

I found something real close by this area like 30 yrs ago and which I had given to my beloved deceased father and I recently refound in his old garage after PROBLABLY being there ever since I gave it to him, it’s a like a 3or4 lbs bar of some sort of metal ,either gold or copper color metal , I actually found this on the side of a lonely New Mexico highway , had to stop to take an emergency no.1 but made sure no one saw me, I walked into some bushes and after doing my thing I just started walking on the side of the road to stretch out a little when this thing caught my eye cause it was sticking halfway out the ground which it had recently suffered a severed storm and was still raining while I was walking down the side of the road , I would love to show it to you, I really doubt it can be ,you know , like a gold bar, but after yrs of reading about the History of the state of New Mexico and it’s territory I actually found this this , It might be something worth checking out, I’m just a simple disabled dude, stroke survivor , just living a chill out life, and after reading about all the and SPECIALLY THIS STORY/HISTORY OF THE TERRITORY IT WAS FOUND, it could be something important, I actually tried to donate it to a near by city in my deceased parents name , they loved the state of New Mexico and traveled thru it 3 or 4 times a year, but since the local politicians from that town knew I was like disabled , they straight out told me they couldn’t accept it since I was disabled …. this thing could be worth like some money I could use ….. but honestly , I’m not to crazy about the cash , it could help but I don’t wanna get my hopes too high, but this piece is beautiful whether it’s gold or not, it’s just it would be awesome to know what it was doing out there …. maybe theirs more laying around ….. swear on my momma’s ashes I never went or drove back thru that highway ….. but it is like real close by this place you just mentioned in this video, and I would love to show you this piece on a video call …. there is a staggering amount of proof it was stolen by the government and military and I find it equally as staggering that they got away with it, so easily.

Take care about what the law says about ownership of a treasure. In europe automatically 50 % is assignable to the state. The rest comes to to the finder and the owner or the leaser of that plot. Thus it could be that legally the whole find is to be assigned to the state.
Being a 70 year old Arizona native, I heard this tale back years ago. What I heard was mostly like your story. Except that there was a big boulder in the main room. It was blocking another shaft that went down really deep. That was where the bulk of the metal was. What the military found was only what the old man brought up, a small amount. The drilled access came out high in the main room and it was too tough to recover metal that way. It seems that the very same dynamite charge that plugged the top access tunnel also shifted the boulder and capped the lower shaft. The rest is still down there, that is why the family still fights to reclaim it. He did mine it after the base was shifted to cover the mountain, but he had to enter thru the main gate and sign in to the base. After it was disclosed to the base CO, he then was locked out. Yes the Government got some metal but only a tiny part. As the widow told my Gramma, my Grand pa was a Deputy sheriff for Safford back then. I think this was a cavern system used to stash stolen gold by robbers. No mining happened.
