Mt Flora and Mines Peak July 2019

Mt Flora and Mines Peak July 2019

Our latest conditioning hike in preparation for the Colorado Trail took us up to Berthoud Pass where we summited Colorado Mines Peak (12,493′) and Mt Flora (13,146′). Our packs were full, the weather was perfect and the snow, in contrast to the last time we were there, was completely melted out. Even our little Chihuahua, Mia, was able to conquer the mountain, with a little help now and again. We can’t wait to hit the CT and begin our thru hiking journey.

Great video guys. Loved the comparison from a few weeks before of that crazy steep snowfield.

Great trek. Incredible how deep some of that snow is, STILL.

Hey thanks a lot for posting; this is really helpful, and very clear video too! We are going to try this route when we visit Denver in early August–me and my 14 year old. Question: do you think an 8 year old can make it to Mt Flora, or should he stop at Colorado Mines Peak? We are total novices at hiking; we’re training best we can down here in flat East Texas at sea level. Thanks again and best regards to y’all and your pup.

Thanks for posting your great video of the trail. I’ll be there in a couple of weeks and have this one on my list. Roughly how long did it take you to get to Flora and back?
