Mineral Identification From A Rich Silver, Lead, Zinc, Copper, Cadmium, Gold Deposit!

Mineral Identification From A Rich Silver, Lead, Zinc, Copper, Cadmium, Gold Deposit!

This rich gold deposit has a hoard of high grade minerals in multiple areas. We look through samples and identify minerals, rock types, elements and grades of the high grade gold and silver veins. The veins are high grade gold and silver but have high grade base metals as well. The showings are volcanic massive sulfide deposits and span many kilometers. We show galena, pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, cadmium, quartz, barite, arsenopyrite, phyrrotite and host rock of siliceous and chert rocks.

Great video. Could you explain a bit more how you identify the individual mineral regions within the samples. Magnification / crystal – cleavage appearance (color to a degree) combined with chemical analysis?? You do an amazing job. Thanks

Nice samples indeed. Not enough of it to mine I guess.

That was interesting but you did with your core drilling device.
I was wondering how long it took you to go down one meter in that hard rock?

How would you go about extracting the different minerals if you say there’s gold, lead, zinc and would you just cast away more of less valuable stuff?

  26. yedrellow on January 22, 2023 at 3:45 am

What mineral was the cadmium in?

Thanks so much for taking the time to point out each different type of mineral in these ore samples. We have some very similar ore types in south central Idaho, and I was struggling to identify the different types of sulfides, as well as the difference between galena and sphalerite. The section of video where you used the tip of the diamond scribe to point out and identify the individual minerals located in the matrix was most helpful. The only thing that could have made that presentation better would have been the use of a tripod for the camera, since many of the mineral samples were quite small, and the movement of the camera was distracting.

But thanks again for sharing a great video. Now I feel like I have a much better idea of what I am seeing when exploring old tailings piles and prospecting for new mineralized outcroppings.
