First, the entire rock is not a gemstone. It is a rock containing an admittedly impressive number of large emerald crystals. Second, the emeralds shown in the rock are somewhat opaque, rendering them considerably less valuable as rough material to cut into gemstones. Third, the centers of the crystals have fairly pale color, in some areas, nearly white, and those parts have next to no value because opaque white beryl is commonplace in many areas.

Many of the emeralds shown in the video are far higher quality than the ones in the large rock and obviously came from other areas. They have a higher degree of crystallization apparent in their sharp outlines and crystal faces. Additionally, they have greater clarity throughout, being of a quality sought after as gemstones.

While no doubt a host of small jewelry grade gemstones could be cut from the outer portions of the crystals, the rock would not yield anything like the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of gemstones required for a valuation like $300M. It would probably be no more than a couple million dollars at the most, maybe not even that, in which case one might as well sell the entire rocks as a display piece to a high dollar mineral collector, who will have a nice story to tell with it.

Thats called" Canga" in Brazil. Its not an gemstone , but it is a collection of smaller crystals, called agregate with lots of worthless matrix, biotite mica interspersed. How can you judge the value of something half pepper and salt, as it is? Only by calculating the true amount of cuttable gems!!!!!! The rest is fantasy

You know, if a humanoid echidna, a humanoid hedgehog, a humanoid two-tailed fox, other humanoid/animal/insect creatures, and a fat bald guy with a big red mustache, glasses, and tons of machines and robots were all also involved in this story, then that might also explain why the guy went underground.

    – obviously the stone isn’t valued for beauty.
    – what are some of the others reasons than money as why this stone is so sought after ??

He thinks the security won’t blow his head off? Is he paying them $10 million a week?? They haven’t robbed him yet because they understand it’s better to control everything than to own it. They are gathering Intel that will be used in one of the biggest heists!
