LOST GOLD Mine Discovered in Utah
LOST GOLD Mine Discovered in Utah
72 year old Gary Holt and his son say that they have discovered the long lost Josephine Mine in the mountains of North Eastern Utah.
The mine first appears in Spanish Jesuit documentation in 1650. Spanish priests worked the fabled mine for three decades, when in 1680 they were forced to abandon the mine after being driven out of the New Mexico Territory by the uprising Pueblo Indians.
The location of the mine has been lost ever since, though it has long since been believed that the lost mine was located near Hoyt’s Peak in north Eastern Utah.
Lost or not the mine is said to be the most valuable gold mine in the world.
Mr. Holdt says he has yet to discover gold in the cavern, though he has obtained a mining permit and said he has pulled millions of dollars worth of calcite crystals from the shaft, which he markets as “Goldite”.
Officials say that the “Goldite” mining operation is little more than a ruse to allow Holt to continue looking for gold.
Holdt says “the hunt for gold is still in active development”
Holdt suggests that the mine could contain 1.7 billion in gold ore.
What do you think, Has Holdt and son found the Lost Josephine mine or have they just lost their minds? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Glad to see you post a video Russ.. I have missed them. I hope they found it but kinda doubt it cause if they did gold would be coming out already. Unless he is stashing the gold in worry that the government or someone will try and take it. If that is the case I hope he buries it for us to find with detectors.. LOL.
I hear ya Chuck! -Russ
no.. just a cave been to many times…
That would be a cool metal detector find…the twice lost gold of the lost Josephine Mine! Thanks Matt! -Russ
+ doesn’t fit the story either..
Maybe found. It
I hope they found it! If so it would be the first profitable gold ever found in NE Utah—Don’t believe me? Look it up! Yeah! I know! The legends! If I had a dollar for every legend maybe I’d be retired now. Oh wait, I am retired. Still wish I had those dollars though!
The Calcite has Value, and they should be free to continue mining it.
If it is a MINE and Not an Old CAVE. Specimens are NOT To Be REMOVED From Caves.
So they found the "most valuable gold mine in the world" but there’s no gold in it? LOL Okay…the calcite crystals look pretty cool though.
Let them do what they want. This IS still a free country.
The priests didn’t mine, they forced the natives to mine and they were pushed out by the Utes, not the Pueblos.
Ghost orbs or gold ore…..doesn’t really mater to me. I would just love to explore it.
Russ! Great to hear from you! Don’t know who’s right, but keep digging.
talking shit, buying time.
that’s theg vertical hole everyone pees in…lolΒ the mine is on the other sideΒ ..lolΒ it was a cacheΒ no gold was ever mined in pure form up thereΒ ..more power to them on selling pretty rocks..
Hey Thomas101834! Thanks for speaking your "mine" -Russ
Hahaha, well treasure is treasure, and Treasure is different in every ones eyes
and I say this again …The 49’rs have looked on every square inch of ground …Have fun in your cave dude , and enjoy that claim fee $$$…again the Million Dollar (Goldite) is just Onyx
Gary indeed found it.
Brewer Caveβ of Giants.Β
Isaac Morley was an important person in the early Utah Mormon Church
here in Manti, Utah and he knew where a lot of ancient burials were. Of course the Brigham Young mandate forbid the members to tamper with these ancient burials and most of the LDS people obeyed their Church leaders on this. Isaac Morley was commissioned by Brigham to work with the Ute Chief Walkara (Walker) to be taken into the mountains to an ancient mine that had vast amounts of gold bars and gold veins in it and bring some back for the Church and he made many trips doing this. Perhaps this gold was left there by the Spanish and before them by the ancient race of Giants that lived here before! Finally when Morely became too old and weak to continue the gold transport commission went to Thomas Rhoades. Morley knew of most of the many ancient burials here in Sanpete County (Utah) and said so. This knowledge has been around for a very long time and Earl John Brewer apparently understood this well. They are smoking hopeium.
Thanks Dean! I’ve got another one coming out tomorrow. We need to get out hunting here soon. -Russ
First off, if anything other than the CCLC was found, do you think Mr. Gary would be dumb enough to advertise it? NOPE! He is a very intelligent man! Secondly, if he did advertise that he found it, look how dumb all these Naysayers would look! Not that most of them donβt already look pretty dumb! Mr. Gary is offering a share of the loot to people that want to earn it. You may want to go ck out his Chanel!, I believe that heβs on to something bigger than anyone can imagine! All the Naysayers will be holding their hand out if and when he even discloses his findings! Keep a diggβn Mr. G!
they found a hole with no gold in it. why would they think its the Josephine mine.
We may have to wait to find out. -Russ
I sure hope they’ve found it. But more than likely, they’ve lost their minds. lol. But we can always hope. Have a good one -Drew
Gary Holt has managed to obtain a claim amidst a lot of bureaucratic BS. More power to him. I have seen photos of the goldcite (not goldite as claimed here) after it is formed into cabachons. It makes a beautiful piece of jewelry! I believe he may be close to the Josephine, but I don’t think he is right on it, however it could be among his several claims in the area.
Just subd’ and love what I’ve seen so far. Real life adventure treasure hunting!
Wish I would have discovered this a lot sooner.
I agree Michael…with stories like this, half of the treasure is the "thrill of the chase". -Russ
Thanks for the comment TetonGemWorks! -Russ
My last comment was deleted why
Go to "Terry Carter’s interview with Gary Holt" for update and website report on new discoveries concerning search for gold . The ruse has come true? or have I lost my mind? Here he got it wrong, it was an observation from the old Spanish Waybill describing the gold and silver bars abandoned because of hostiles that would total today as one point seven billion not as ore as was here misreported. and the name of the calcite crystals was "Goldcite", not goldite. The media has been known to screw it up.
He wanted me to go dig, the fissure fell in the tunnel for many feet, also I believe Thomas Rhodes hauled out the gold for Brigham Young’s temple. That was the closest location the Utes guided them to. Mr Holt I’m afraid will never see anything come out of that collapsed tunnel. ..
Spoken like a true treasure hunter! -Russ
Mining scams are the second oldest "job" after prostitution.
3000 pounds of calcite worth its weight in gold at $30,000,000 dollars, marketed at "goldcite" π
Gotcha. π€
Scammers go scamming. π
LOL RiverRat2013!!! I love some of the comments I get from you guys, Thanks! -Russ
They’ve lost their minds. Lol,or,mines,he he
We’ll just have to wait and see…But I’m thinking if there are no artifacts, then it probably isnt the the Lost Josephine Mine. -Russ
Creative spot there Russ! And maybe all that glitters is truely gold!!!!
Awesome content just subscribed to your channel. I live in utah and have been chasing treasure my whole life here in utah.
LOL So true 2005fiddler/Dign-nbama. So true…
well they say treasure is everywhere so maybe π thanks for the video Russ :)HH!
We had the investment to go in and pit mine that area in 2012 but the BLM. Said no. So best of luck to ya
I think itβs gay
so funny , the Million Dollar (Goldite) is just Onyx ……..Lame
We’ll have to wait and see I guess. My opinion and that’s all it is is an opinion is that if it were the Lost Josephine Mine, gold would have already been coming out of it. Thanks for the kind words Lawdogg1digr! -Russ
I agree! -Russ
Do you have any drill data to back up your claim?
Been there, tested area, surveyed area. I found many things that are indicative of historical Spanish mining operations. Having said that I cannot disprove what is said here
