Today on Gold Rush Media Corey and Jessica walk us through the Historic King’s Canyon Gold Mine. This combination Lode and Placer claim is resides in Jackson County, Colorado. The King’s Canyon claims are a great example of elusive, but massive gold mines, which Colorado is known for. A well maintained road passes within a mile of the claims, but the mines lie hidden up an old overgrown road. There are two claims, a lode and placer, that cover two separate mining operations. Estimated years of operation were from the 18960s-1940s. The area is a mining wonderland.

Well I.have a great story for you when I was.just a.young lad there was this establishmet down in town just outside of Denver the place was called After the Gold Rush this establishment was yhe finest entertainment baxk in its day, the young ladies seriously gathered at this place to press the show against the floor, the music was lively the ladies where beautiful and half in the bag from the beer and dancing im those days we had to be home right after the clun closed and the ladies had a proper chaperone a perfect gentlemen parents could trust the finest character. The strong Christians did not like this kins of activities because they said it lead ro SIN I personally never noticed anything more them normal youth having so much fun I think is what the oarents were envious about truthfully see the SIN those parents were so worries about was in their own mind and the kid exauated from jumping around calling it dancing fell to sleep on the way home from the NOW FAMOUS. AFTER THE GOLD RUSH 1977 theough say 80 something had the uoing people od the entire wear side of the Denver metro area attending thisbgreat wonderful experience we now refer to as the disco era OMG what a blast

I believe what you are presenting as a "dredge" is actually a conveyer from the mill. A dredge would be using buckets (or similar devices) as opposed to angle iron. The conveyer would be moving material from the crusher to the processing equipment. The angle iron keeping the smaller aggregate on the belt. Although it could be part of a larger dredge moving material "on" the dredge. I don’t think they were running bucket line dredges up there.

Yes, I think its an old chain elevator. Moves material from one process to another, the chains drag the material along the box, they don’t move very fast but does give an even flow.

Love this. Trying to research the history of this area and how it got its name. My greatgrandmother’s grandfather was James Kings, born in England. I know he lived in Foxpark, Wyo and had a sawmill between Foxpark and Walden, Colo. I’ve always wondered/assumed that Kings Canyon was named for him…but do not have any proof. Does anyone know the history between the Kings Canyon mine name?
