It’s actually formed in the mantle and not the crust. Kimberlite also isn’t really directly associated with gold. There’s a fair bit of other misinformation in here as well. Thank you for sharing this video with us though.

Sorry, but from a South African, Kimberly was the first diamond bearing ore, hence the name Kimberlite, after Kimberly, the nearest town at the time. Perhaps the largest stone found at the Big Hole (as its known) was 83ct, however, the largest 2 or 3 diamonds all come from SA as well, with the largest being the Cullinan Diamond which was given to the Queen of England at the time. It was so large that it was cleverer into multiple pieces that are in the Royal collection to this day. The size of the stone was circa 1306,75Ct. The mine is still operational and is now opened by Petra Diamonds:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cullinan_Diamond

The mine has aldo produced other large stones. The other mine that produces massive stones of gem quality in Southern Africa is in Lesotho (do some research), and is owner by Gem Diamonds.

    Cheers

Hopefully your neighbors don’t think you’re making meth in the back yard. I had the cops called on me by some neighbors about 10 yrs ago when i was smelting gold ore and roasting sulfides while working in Arizona There was a "and they lived happily ever after" fisish to the situation. One of the officers asked if he could stop by after his shift. To see how the process worked and what exatly gold ore looked like. I obliged his request and was very glad i did. Because, that year he’d inherited some property he’d never seen from an uncle he barely knew and that it had old mines on it. He admitted that he no idea what to look for. So, he invited me to go with him to help point out some basic houndology. Lets just say, he became an official Rockhound that year and both of us decided our jobs weren’t where we wanted to be. We became the best of buddies and he a very rich, but humble man. I dont know why i told this story, but after see you minerals bubbling, a flood of memories came front of mind. Great video and next time i go to cripple creek here in Colo. I’ll hunt for Kimberly right.

The garnets found in Kimberlites are called Pyropes, or Kimberlitic garnets which have no crystal shapes like the other more common ones such as Almandine, Spessartine, Andradite and Uvarovite. It looks like the green pockets may have been Chrome Diopside which is easily dissolved by strong acid. One way of really dissolving your Kimberlite would be to use Hydroflouric acid as this is one way to extract diamonds. However, it is one of the most dangerous acids, so, unless you have the right conditions, it would be unadvisable to use this acid! Anyway, your video was still very interesting to watch just so I could recognise some of the minerals it contains. Thank you!

Your within walking distance of a boat load of it.
    It doesnt create the diamonds.
It picks up the diamonds as it comes up.
Diamonds are up to 150 miles in, past that its called woodringite of which there are 3 in existance.
Send me a time and date i will show you some of mine.
By the by kimberlite moves at about 30 mph to the surface or the gem is destroyed by decompressing being to rapid causing the vaporazation of the diamond or too slow causing the diamond to melt into the surrounding material because of the heat and intense pressure that wont allow the diamond to remain solid so because of the pressure it melts into the surrounding mats because it cant boil at that pressure.
I have alot of kimberlite though and it contains sulfides gold silver and pgm’s in abundance.
    There is also lamporite.
Dont get in contact with the fumes or breath it.
You will catch platinumosis, which you cannot get rid of. Its a nasty skin disease.
    Your kimberlite looks weak sister.
Kimberlite is deposited in vents and not the volcanic chamber so to say violent eruption to get it would be inacurate.
Pay attention to the large triangles formed all over the rock hecause of crystallyn diamond content.
If you look to close at the rock you may miss the big oicture.
To understand the structure pattern will help you to see it in formations from a good distance.

  33. Kevin Williams on December 2, 2020 at 10:10 pm

The blue would be copper and or sinc.
I cant stress enough to look at the structure online atomically then look at the pattern on the rock.
    It will freak you out.

I was going through some of my saved heavy sand from panning over the past year and a half just to see what I could find under the microscope. I’d already got all the visible gold and pulled most of the magnetic material and saved in jars. The rest of the sand is full of zircon, lots of different sulfides, tellurides and various other minerals from bright yellow, green, red, purple, blue, etc. I pulled about five diamonds out and saved them on the side. I only went through a small spoonful of material to examine before I accidentally bumped the cup full of sand off my desk onto my carpeted floor. I’m not looking forward to vacuuming it up and digging through all the hairs and fibers.

  50. Ludmila Kotovski on December 2, 2020 at 10:32 pm

Sorry to correct you, but, the biggest diamond ever found was the Cullinan diamond which was discovered in South Africa and weighed over 3,000 carats! This was way back in 1905 and was given to the Royal Family of England…
