"Just a double"…
Should have shown Vanessa’s full routine, or at the least, key dance passages. Her tumbling is absolutely excellent, but the emotion of her dance is what makes it stunning to watch, and this clip totally misses it. Some people lament that women’s gymnastics has become more about power and less about grace. But I love that this sport can, in fact, accommodate so many different styles. The floor medals show this beautifully. Jade and Vaness exhibit such completely different styles, yet both are so incredibly compelling. Melnikova in third brings the classical beautiful Russian style, with leaps and spins making up for the difficulty her tumbling lacks, and Murukami, tied for third, has yet another unique style and is also a joy to watch. Four such different approaches to floor excellence, all rewarded and competitively scored by the judges.
PS–I am SO happy for Jade, I adore her floor routine and was really rooting for her to win this event, an am so glad she did <3, just wanted to comment on all of these great gymnasts here.

Why are all of them I that team so stalky and none are slender?
The Italian gymnast and the Brazilian gymnast did 10x better! The Italian should have gotten the gold! The Brazilian the silver as she lost points stepping outside the perimeter. This was definitely a prejudiced decision in favor of the American!
I’m no expert, so no clue on the technical difficulty, but honestly I thought the Brazilian (Rebecca’s) performance was cooler. The fact that she stumbled hurt her, I’m sure, but I loved the style.
Too bad she won’t have knees by the time she is 25.

Another failure for the USAG leadership, demonstrating they don’t know how to select, coach, or lead a team. The entire top echelon at USAG should be fired.
4-woman team got silver in team, gold in all-around, bronze on beam, bronze on bars, and had one quit on the team in the middle of the competition. Without Suni they don’t medal in team, no all around medal, and no bars medal. It was literally Suni that carried the team, entirely.
The other two members, not selected for the team competition, got gold in floor and silver on vault.
This is rank incompetence at selecting a team, developing a team, and making adjustments.
Hmm. So, that is what a non-quitter looks like.
