Apply directly through the mining company for entry level positions in underground, if you have a manual car licence can pass a medical an a national police check then that’s a lot of what you need.

I recently recruited a newly found Gold Mine, and amazingly on my Ancestral Family Land (Im Native American) I love working here, I’d like to think of it as like My Land is providing for my family and me.

Hey Keith, I have just finished my first year at uni in new Zealand and have decided its not really for me. I have been looking at mines for the past two years now. My mates father owns an earth moving company in NZ, should I be working with him for 6 months and try get as many licenses as possible before heading to WA ? Any courses you know about that would be helpful to get into mines (e.g. First aid …). Cheers Bro

Hey man, love the videos… could you give me some advice… I want to move with my family to Queensland, which towns (not city) would be best to live in that I can do FIFO? Preferably somewhere by the coast.

    Hello Keith,

What are the odds of a 19 y/o Irish lad on a working holiday visa landing a job in the mines? Is there any point in giving it a go or should I look at other options?

I’ve been researching for some time in mining jobs. My kids are in Oz so am contemplating making the move from NZ to be closer to them but still want my freedom. I work in the health industry here but definitely been looking for another change. Have always wanted to drive trucks so gonna enrol myself into a course and get the ball rolling. Thanks for sharing this vid… has been really helpful.

If you want to get into mining the first thing you need to do is move to the resource powerhouse that is Western Australia, don’t pussyfoot around with pansy eastern states mining.

Spoilt Brat Mining Workers be liek:
The Mine pays for the Breakfast Club at school without our mining Jobs we would have to ACTUALLY feed our own kids Breakfast, without a $160,000 wage! What is the world coming to? It’s falling off its Axis!

  21. Tidly Winks on April 23, 2022 at 1:09 pm

Im convinced its a rigged system. Ive been told twice by mining HR Reps (not on the record) that i need to be a woman or Aboriginal. Ive been trying for 12 years since and have more tickets than a roll of toilet paper. Ill keep trying but i still think the recruitment process is unfair to all that apply.

  22. Federico Ruano on April 23, 2022 at 1:10 pm

Hello, great video. Do you consider is hard to get into the mines as trade assistant or truck driver if you have all the required tickets?

  23. Proper Aussie on April 23, 2022 at 1:11 pm

Anyone in Australia can get a fifo job due to lack of labour.
80% of fifo workers couldn’t land a job in the other states due to high demand of quality labour.
A 19 year old can get a fifo job

  25. Stu Lara on April 23, 2022 at 1:12 pm

Hey mate, I drove rigid/semi tippers in Melbourne for 5 years and want to go to the mines now. I can go and get R11 tickets etc, but they all want years of experience for tipper/haul truck jobs. Do you think there’s a way around that? Think i can’t use my references because it wasn’t on mine sites and the trucks were a lot smaller!
