hidden treasure caches found with a metal detector in Utah

These guys showed up at my house with the story of 5 treasure caches they found up in the mountains while prospecting. One of the caches contained clues and a key to what they figure could be a large cashe. They show us 3 of the 5 small cashes they found and show the clue to where the large cache is hidden.

Thank you. I guess we will figure out the dials some how. We for not have a head phone. Shld I take a picture of what kind we have to show you? I could do that. We have found some wire and lots of pull tabs. We went to the fort but will not let us near that place to try and detect. All of the land got boughten up by the state and it is prohibited yo hunt.

Now you have enough money to buy batteries for your smoke detectors.

I live in Southern Utah. I metal detect.. Lots of Legends and stories of lost treasure. Sure they exist all over. I really enjoyed this! The guy in the white shirt and tie looks so familiar to me?

  7. Bama_Outdoors76 on November 22, 2020 at 9:04 pm

Apparently Mutt and Jeff in the video don’t know the difference between and jar and a bottle.

Most decent metal detectors are good to a depth of about 18 inches. However big targets like a culvert can be detected to about 6 to 10 feet.

    I,think the need go 3 ft,is under a tree.

Anyone with collectibles could in theory pretend they just found them randomly and create a treasure hunt storyline. Then build it up, get an audience interested, then all of a sudden find the mother load and get whatever attention or minor fame and recognition that such a situation would bring about.

    up date
These guys borrowed my two box metal detector to go see if they could find the main treasure (if there was one). They couldnt figure out how to use my two box so they gave up. They want me to go with them but I have been working out of state, hopefully I will be back in town this spring.

well did the IRS knock on your door ? if you find a lot of gold don’t post it !! the last time some one posted there find the FBI took it and said it was stolen !!! try a black light to enhance the writing on the paper .

  23. Jozsef Nyisztor on November 22, 2020 at 9:23 pm

    The most important question is…
did they ever change the batteries in the smoke detector.

I was metal detecting in utah and found a sword, a wire frame that looks sort of like glasses, and some clearish stones in it. A really cool box that had decorative metal all around it under a large boulder.

  28. conner Herbert on November 22, 2020 at 9:30 pm

I don’t doubt this at all. My dad and two of his brothers use to bury jars of "treasures" in the mountains where they use to hunt. Sadly, they have all passed. I have taken my detector to a few of their places, but I’ve yet to find anything. Maybe one of these days. Nice finds though!

  29. Scott Karen on November 22, 2020 at 9:31 pm

I live in Utah County, Ut do you think there are any places I could look around here? I have an older Whites MLX detector without headphones..thank you Karen

Did you ever find the mother load if not did you make a line marker between each find to see if they are in line with each other it may be pointing to the next container.

  31. Kevin Solomon on November 22, 2020 at 9:34 pm

  32. Kerry Jacobson on November 22, 2020 at 9:34 pm

  33. Don Gray on November 22, 2020 at 9:36 pm

A unique way to show off one’s lifetime of coin hunting, there’s no treasure folks but it is a nice story,so nice in fact I’ve held onto it all these years, as my grandfather used to tell us the same story jars Keys the whole nine yards right down to the note, and paper money..I bet they’re related one way or another…I hope not,,,, only kidding only kidding only…. It’s one of life’s oldest cons show a little bit of your treasure in order to build interest in the bigger treasure l,which never existed

  34. jimmyz45t on November 22, 2020 at 9:36 pm

    nice finds

  41. Gary Downard on November 22, 2020 at 9:45 pm

Great vid and finds but laughed really hard with the way he was shakin those old coins together and letting them scratch each other up in that jar lol. Also –  a treasure map on that paper but no sheet protector lol. Just tape it on a regular sheet of paper and  let it get torn up handling it like that. ha ha ha ha. Great finds tho – would have LOVED to be the one that found it.
