In April of 2013, SantaFe.com received a series of emails from a treasure hunter claiming that Forrest Fenn’s hidden treasure — a box that Fenn says is full of gold, jewels and other fine things — had been found. Lovato wrote about it in his blog, “According to Emails from Random Guy) Fenn’s Buried Treasure Revealed, Will Steal Your Soul” (http://bit.ly/Ykhs3z). Turns out Fenn, a Santa Fe resident, has received tens of thousands of emails from treasure hunters from throughout the world. In this interview, Fenn discusses his hidden treasure and the phenomenon that has sparked a modern-day gold rush.

Fenn had a damn art bronze foundry and ran it himself, he cast the chest himself, search the claims of where Fenn says its dated 1150AD which predates the original relic of a casket, he alleges and blindly wants us to believe he purchased the chest from an Unnamed Museum through and Unnamed friend, have some sense people and see the fraud Fenn is. Seriously NO Museum sells off its treasures to a demented grey haired old fruit bat. Fenn recovered the chest after giving it some thought about it being found then appraised as a 21st century fake by his own hands. Examine "Attack on the Castle of the Church" the real 1450AD ivory casket, the theme Fenn ripped off and crudely decorated his chest with. Fenn is about making money off people and commercial interests – nothing out there any longer folks.

Experiencing the great outdoors and being involved with family and friends chasing what might be there, that is the treasure. This guy didn’t hide anything, it was his way of getting his family outside and he believed the experience was a treasure worth sharing so he told everyone there’s a treasure chest to find.
I do think the treasure is a metaphor for something else. No money or material treasure just some other meaning that a treasure hunter might not have on their mind. For an older person nearing the end of a full life he just may have wanted some recognition or dare I say fame. Honestly and not to underestimate this man but a small chest of gold is heavy and to traverse the terrain in question and supposedly hide this "treasure" easily on his part is a hard pill to swallow. The benefit of the journey most hunters experience could be the "treasure" this man may have been helping others seek out. Either way it is an intriguing tale and now I too will remember the name Forrest Fenn and what I can say is another American urban legend so to speak.

If 10% of book sales go to charity, there is 90% left over. He said he’s not getting any money from this book, so who is? Is the publisher really keeping the other 90%?

Chalk Creek Nathrop Co(from the book chalk the memories once again), between the hatchery(home of brown) and the hot springs (from the poem where warm waters halt Mt Princeton Hot Springs), middle(middle child story from the book) water is irrigation canal(no Paddle up your creek)these are below the home of brown(from book pic of favorite fishing hole), that irrigation canal was wet in 2010 now dry from a land slide. Use ToPo map and you’ll see the Y canal becoming two canals. Go and check it out, start at the hatchery and walk up the middle canal dry one, first thing you’ll find is the large tree that was intentionally dropped over the canal and maintenance walk pathway. Keep going and you’ll find where the chest was placed in 2010 That area is now gone. My guess is that, Blasting caused the side hill to slide toward Chalk Creek. Guess who found the chest & did the dirty deed blasting, WATER RIGHTS OWNER FOR THE WHOLE VALLEY IS MY GUESS. ONE PISSED OFF GUY. Kept the chest and never said a word.

Some of his interviews do give some insight into himself. That’s how you figure out possible locations. Learn about him. As a child I was always outside seeking adventure. I continued doing so all my life. In my mid twenties I even crawled in the narrow passages of Kokoweef caverns in California looking for an underground river of gold. . I visited Seldom Seen Slim’s place near Death Valley. I’ve searched for pirate treasure on Folly Beach SC and found an old civil war cannon ball. . Isn’t just easier to give each coin to the poorest people there is that are smart enough to know what to do with it and not put treasure that caused already a few deaths which if I would have done that I would be thrown to jail with all the police and gov corruption there is you are making people waste money and cause lives and probably these people are just reg people that are not rich they go save up money for a trip to look to get rich and come back home broke

It’s sad how so, so many people miss the very point of The Thrill of the Chase, the hidden treasure and psychoanalyze Mr. Fenn’s agenda.
The negativity, dark speculations, false witnessing of people’s actions for gain or notoriety just makes me cringe for humanity. Never in ten thousand years will there be peace on Earth. Just saying.
