Forrest Fenn Treasure Finally Found In Rocky Mountains | TODAY

The search for a hidden treasure that TODAY has reported on for years seems to have finally come to an end: Someone has apparently claimed the multimillion-dollar treasure that art collector Forrest Fenn hid in the Southwest nearly a decade ago, leaving clues in a poem. NBC’S Gadi Schwartz (who hunted the treasure himself) reports.

Fenn’s insecurities and ego cost at least five lives and some their life savings. All for a hoax. No wonder Fenn is an admirer of conman Donald Trump.

  2. Off Grid on June 23, 2020 at 3:44 pm

    HEY IDIOTS! IT WASN’T BURIED!

  3. Ronny Mohd Omar on June 23, 2020 at 3:46 pm

  4. Ronald Aiello on June 23, 2020 at 3:46 pm

I buried roughly $800k at Mosquito Lake park in Ohio and that was 4 years ago and still to this day no one has found it. I check on it from time to time.

  5. Ricky Dimaz Yudistira on June 23, 2020 at 3:49 pm

I wonder if shane punching that tree right now after hearing the forrest fenn treasure had been found

  6. 82465amen on June 23, 2020 at 3:51 pm

I bet it’s still out there. He even gave a new poetic clue that was posted by someone (not him) 😉

  7. Stunt Devil on June 23, 2020 at 3:52 pm

U know theres a old map that says home of brown ski resort was it there ?

  8. Chad Self on June 23, 2020 at 3:53 pm

The actual value of the treasure means nothing to so many rather than just knowing where the actaul location was.

  9. Big RAT on June 23, 2020 at 3:54 pm

Im now a little sad that we now know Shane and Ryan didn’t actually find the treasure

  10. One Percent Takers on June 23, 2020 at 3:55 pm

Where are the pictures Fenn promised?

  11. christopher on June 23, 2020 at 3:56 pm

It’s a really unfortunate ending tot he story, how Forrest has handled this. My gut tells me this is BS

  12. Off Grid on June 23, 2020 at 3:59 pm

This was found in Yellowstone on federal property. The location will never be reveled for laws regarding property on federal land!

  13. Hush Whisper on June 23, 2020 at 3:59 pm

The person who found it did it by my solve, that’s why the finder doesn’t want to know where it was found.
Look at this and tell me I’m wrong. https://youtu.be/DLjCwvPQsbY

  15. THX 1138 on June 23, 2020 at 4:03 pm

Why not reveal the location?? That’s rather rude.

  16. Anon ymous on June 23, 2020 at 4:04 pm

Anyone else find it a bit fishy that the treasure which lets be honest a lot of us thought would never be found or take a LONG time to be found has been ‘discovered’ after only ten years and particularly whilst Forrest is still alive?

He seems like a smart and good guy IMO so I find it hard to believe he would lie about this and also ppl have died but then again maybe that’s why he’s called off the hunt…

Why hasn’t he revealed where it was found at least???

Apparently he’s been busy whatever the heck that means…

If he doesn’t reveal the location soon then that’s just pure bitterness and mean.

  17. d(♥.♥)b on June 23, 2020 at 4:05 pm

Top of Wraith Falls Wyoming is where it was

  18. Bowtech2 on June 23, 2020 at 4:06 pm

I doubt it was ever real.

  19. Chaz Faucher on June 23, 2020 at 4:06 pm

It’s way too shady that the guy won’t reveal his identity. Even then, that’s fine. Saying he will never reveal where it was found? That’s insane. Until then, there’s zero proof his poem ever led to any specific real location. Give closure to the thousands that searched or bought your book. Or for those that died.

  20. Diener Marie-Zitroen on June 23, 2020 at 4:08 pm

Probably unrelated, the other two artifacts traders investigated by the FBI committed suicide. It was that bad. But Fenn’s stash wasn’t in his home. Weirdly it was gone. Hidden somewhere. And then it reappeared after all federal statutes of limitation had run. FF, who loves ciphers, codes and inside jokes, released the statement it had been found on 6/6, which you can already figure out is a kid’s way of encoding FF. You know, now as I think about it, It’s almost like some cynical and sarcastic person deciphered the poem, sent the location to the Department of the Interior ("back East") and asked it to intervene. It’s almost like that. But nah.

  21. Liz Sweetbrook on June 23, 2020 at 4:10 pm

No offence, I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I call bs on this one. I think Fenn knows he’s about to pass away soon, so, after a decade, he decided to end the hunt of a treasure that never existed to begin with. I understand the person who allegedly found it doesn’t want to be identified, but they refused to reveal its location as well. I think the problem with that is that if Fenn told us where it was many people would come forward and say “Hey, I was exactly at this very spot and we couldn’t find the chest! You’ve been lying to us for 10 years.” Granted, this could also be the reason it’s not revealed, if the treasure ever existed, because Fenn doesn’t want to get thousands of letters and calls.

I’m still curious if we were close at least.

  22. porky pig on June 23, 2020 at 4:10 pm

anyone seen a Sasquatch spending up large ?

  23. ramm one on June 23, 2020 at 4:13 pm

LOL! What he meant "Blaze" is a wild plant, if you looked down, it was surrounded not buried under the " Blaze" ( Blazing Star) I was making a trip this year but
Covid stopped me. It was a small trail along branch of a river past the fork but he mentioned the treasure was not buried but it had to be naturally covered, so
look for plants along game trail that someone his age can handle but not easily to walk. I blame covid and the dam chinese for ruining my trip!!! My search
would have been at Piedra Creek, 2.5 hrs NW of Sante Fe, you can paddle or walk until you get to the fork where Coldwater Creek feeds into it, take that path
it is harsh terrain but manageable and not for everyone, it’s a long walk, the trail will end in a meadow of Blazing Stars (wild plant) the box is not buried but
you will see the top of it which will stand out around the wild plants. When the poem mentioned "Blaze" at your feet, if you knew where those plants
take root, you just had to find the trail that leads to them.

  24. Anita Zulu okeke on June 23, 2020 at 4:13 pm

wow this will be a big hunt.
good luck to the treasure hunters.

  25. Jordan Snap on June 23, 2020 at 4:13 pm

It’s funny now he is busted for lying 🤥

  26. atlantic coast on June 23, 2020 at 4:15 pm

The Poem, the clues are lines 5 thru 13 (with explanations)  read it you will see and how we got there with the poem only, then only the Moby video and only his clues. he was informed

you CAN see it on google earth, watch the Moby interview
    Dated 11/2 /2013.
You CAN see it , from that response we believed that he knew you could see it and made a second trip to cover

He went by horse 2 trips one to place it. One later to cover it. We have Pictures DOABLE AT ANY AGE BY HORSE
We can fill In all the blanks both, books and poem

MOBY QUESTION @@  to @ range
Is it possible to locate the treasure chest without ever leaving your computer and google earth?

Answer.       no      (thought about it hesitated, then answered with a caveat)
it isn’t     did i really say that      aaaa   theres not a picture of the treasure chest on google earth         " because google earth doesn’t go down far enough”        did i really say that

WELL YOU CAN  and he knew it, 2nd trip to cover,  and he knew us

An 80 year old can walk or get there by horse its a horse trail that branches off the human trail—not alsociated with human trail in fact it’s doable at ANY age

1- wwwh – hebgen lake where the madison enters lake in montana warm touches cold at this point madison gibbons firehole form the warm madison , madison is at its warmest here until it touches the lake

    start at the lake

2- canyon down – head north down madison canyon to next clue

3- not far – NOT the FAR side of the moon, NOT in the direction of the back of the blue moon tavern camp grounds in cameron mt been there since 1910, (FAR SIDE of the moon) that faces the gravely mtns, go to the front of the blue moon, the front of the blue moon camp ground tavern facing the sphinx mountain in Cameron MT,
head east  to the Metcalf Preserve, he drew a picture of the Sphinx in TFTW and a fire pit THE BLAZE

*NOT the *FAR side, NOT the back of the building faces gravely mountains west, go EAST, FRONT FACING

4- below Brown – frank sandbar Brown miner / gold prospector, in Phillipsburg Montana, dropped his first and nick name went by Brown only, LOOK HIM UP not a trout, not a bear, not some random ranger, Brown THE MINER/ GOLD PROSPECTOR

5- meek – go east toward mountain to trail, if you are a quiet person(MEEK) its no place for you, you are entering a wildlife preserve you MUST make noise,
READ THE TRAIL MARKER WHEN YOU GET THERE IT SAYS MAKE NOISE- DO NOT GO IN ALONE
with a picture of a grizzly

6- nigh – you are now close take the trail and keep left,, you will also cross over the DRY Cameron Creek bed left on horse trail that branches left off the human trail

7- no paddle up creek – Bear Creek on right many large boulders, fast water, you will also cross over the DRY Cameron Creek bed

8- water high – you are going to the lake at the top, but not the highest one Cedar Lake they could not land there in the helicopter , the lower one Lake Cameron with the grassy 300’ wide field that they landed at,
the rivulet is there, the stone embankment is there where he and Donnie woke to find the horses missing hiden behind, in the high grass 300′ wide field, MEASURE IT
follow the rivulet it ends a short distance at a stone washout- no way up or down IN STORY

9- blaze – BLAZE. A FIRE PIT the old fire pit, its the round fire pit north end in the tall grass, no pine tar (TARRY SCANT) old pit, nothing has changed for 50 years plus

go to it pick it up and get out fast

thats how to read it all 9 clues lines 5 to 13 in poem ignore the rest

    NOW

go to Lake Cameron Montana on google maps pro outside Ennis
ZOOM into the round fire pit on the north end **SLOWLY*

TAKE YOUR TIME UNTILL YOU SEE IT AND LEARN THE TIMING AND BEST APPROACH ANGLE
    you will see it
    Screen capture it, expand it,
our best shot came from the field view

What you will see is the treasure box and the number 9 if you zoom from the field, the number 6 if you zoom from lake

    go to google earth pro

    type in Lake Cameron Montana or 45 12’52.31" N 111 33’17.29”W

zoom into the Blaze aka fire pit its not a stick or marker a Fire Pit at end of lake get as close as you can SLOWLY before it Disappears again come in SLOWLY from the west to the round fire pit at north side of lake

you’ll see the 10"x10" treasure box and the number 9 in the OLD fire pit in the old no pine tar fire pit  MEASURE THE BOX, MEASURE THE FIELD, FOLLOW THE RIVULET they could not go down TO THE STONE WASHOUT he and donnie could not go further

you’ll see the 300′ wide grassy area you’ll see the rivulet that he and Donnie could not go down
you will see the embankment where the horses were not visible in the morning when they woke

    thats all you need
now REVERSE BACK from there ON GOOGLE EARTH PRO

from there you’ll back track down past the FISHLESS lake cameron follow the SWITCH BACKS on a horse trail *not associated with a human trail

to the bear creek heavy boulders no paddle then down the road to the blue moon trailer camp grounds believed to be where his mother passed away

***the madison river elevation between cameron and ennis is 5000’ near the 50 mile riffle, he and Donnie went 50 miles or so from the lake story

all below the miner frank sandbar Browns home in Phillipsburg mt  BROWN DROPPED HIS FIRST AND NICK NAME AND WAS ONLY ADDRESSED AS Brown
    LOOK HIM UP

continue to backtrack from blue moon back to the hebgen lake to where warm water meet
***because the firehouse gibbon madison are the warm waters that meet the colder hebgon lake thats the begin at point

***just above his family campsite is the mountain his brother flew around and landed in the lake its BALD mountain like he randomly mentionedHE WAS GOING BALD in the first few pages BALD mt is 10180′ elevation below the 10200’ clue

ADDITIONAL CLUES, His mother passed in CAMERON MONTANA, JUNE AND DONNIE WERE MARRIED and GRAVESITES UNKNOWN, they MAY be scattered there from the TAOS story, the clue was given to look his family up when he looked up his dad on the internet, MAKING THIS HIS SPECIAL SPOT

FROM THE HIGH EMBANKMENT YOU CAN SEE BELOW WEST WHERE HIS MOTHER PASSED IN CAMERON, TO THE NORTHWEST PHILLIPSBURG MT HOME OF BROWN AND SOUTH WEST TO BALD MOUNTAIN

so now you can start at hebgen lake north down canyon to the blue moon
right to the bear creek make noise so you don’t get eaten
follow the no paddle creek to the trail marked for horses
up the switch backs to the heavy water high to the no fish in it lake cameron to the blaze fire pit in the high grass 300′ helicopter landing site below the waterfall at cedar lake that they couldn’t land at in the war story

the CHIPMUNKS they are everywhere on the way

ALSO draw a mountain then see if it looks like the illustration he put in his follow up book
YOU WILL DRAW A MOUNTAIN WITH PEAKS ASK ANY ONE THE SAME

HE DREW The Sphinx you see it on the way up, same tree, same resting rock, same angle

we have more, much more, email I’ll fill all the blanks in

MEASURE ON GOOGLE ITS 10×10, NOTHING in nature makes a 10×10 4 sided 90degree angle box next to a NINE

    THERE IS MORE

Nobody will ever fall for this again… I hope. Faker Forrest Fenn has ruined anyone starting a genuine treasure hunt.

  29. Mr. Seth on June 23, 2020 at 4:16 pm

Forrest went back and took it. It sad that he betrayed all those who worked so hard. You see him with the rusty treasure on the pictures. Real Shame.

    Well that is a bust.

  31. Dr. Van Nostrand on June 23, 2020 at 4:17 pm

Is no one skeptical of this? Anonymous finder, no location or even solve for the poem. Not sure why anyone would just take this guy at his word, for all you know this thing was sitting in his backyard the entire time.

  40. Brandon Kazimir on June 23, 2020 at 4:26 pm

At least the famed Tomar Emeralds are still out there to find.

  41. Joe Milton on June 23, 2020 at 4:27 pm

Ah, you probably should have peppered the word "allegedly" liberally throughout this piece.

  42. Foxtrot on June 23, 2020 at 4:31 pm

I’m not saying it’s definitely fake but an anonymous finder with zero proof? That’s EXACTLY what a hoaxer would do. Unless Forrest publishes proof, there will always be doubt and speculation, and rightly so. Sure he has no legal obligation to but it would be a spit in the face of all the time and even deaths that people have invested.

  43. Kenny Cringeworthy on June 23, 2020 at 4:33 pm

Now that the hunt is over, all i want to know from Forest fen himself is where he hid that treasure all those years.

I couldnt care less of who found it.
