Forrest Fenn Treasure Finally Found In Rocky Mountains | TODAY

The search for a hidden treasure that TODAY has reported on for years seems to have finally come to an end: Someone has apparently claimed the multimillion-dollar treasure that art collector Forrest Fenn hid in the Southwest nearly a decade ago, leaving clues in a poem. NBC’S Gadi Schwartz (who hunted the treasure himself) reports.

Waited for years to do it myself when I was old enough, but glad that it gave the treasure hunting community good times.

Now that Forrest has passed, his "special place in the forest north of Santa Fe" should be revealed. If you look at the Vallecitos Mountain Retreat website at: https://www.vallecitos.org/ , and then look at the photos (select Why Vallecitos, then Photo Gallery), you will see some hints that Forrest mentioned, such as: some case bronze bells similar to the ones Forrest made and buried; a photo of the Vallecitos Rio, the "water high" in the poem; and a photo of a large rainbow ("the poem leads to the end of my rainbow" from the jacket of The Thrill of the Chase); and if you open Google Maps and look at the grassy area south of the Vallecitos ranch house, you will find a large white rock wheel, as in "Try the wheel" as Forrest said to one searcher: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yw1sdttynrfxcnf/2%20Vallecitos%20Mountain%20Retreat-%20Try%20the%20Wheel.jpg?dl=0 – – – – -The Google Maps coordinates for the Blaze (a large black painted "nn" on top of a big white boulder) where the blaze is still visible at: 36.6355, -106.2105 – – – – – – –

If you would like a copy of my TREASURE MAP leading to my 1.4 million dollar Treasure – Gold, Silver, Bronze, Turquoise and precious jewels hunted for, found and collected between 1979 and 2009, and secreted in one of five states in 2009/2010 [5 years before I ever heard of Forrest Fenn] contac me at brad hartliep at g mail — the map is $10.00 per digital copy and you can’t give it or show it to anyone else — if you do you will have to pay me 10 dollars for each incident — if you would like detailed directions of all 9 of Forrest’s Clues, including the exact location of the where the Treasure was hidden, send me $500.00 and a signed notarized promise not to reveal any of the information or the locations of any of the clues — if you do, than you freely agree to pay me $100,000.00 for lost income and the pain and suffering from lost income .. [for those of you who don’t know, I discovered Forrest’s Treasure in late 2015 / early 2016 – Forrest KNEW I discovered his Treasure: because I sent him video and photographic proof – and I left several clues to the whereabout of my treasure, as well as Forrest’s Treasure, between 2016 and early 2020] ..

  17. Nate Hill on March 28, 2021 at 10:31 am

It wasn’t actually ever there OR found. He likely paid this dude to pretend he did and that’s why he doesn’t want to be known.
Show us the tax documents if it’s genuine. Just an old con artist trying to be relevant.

  18. Bird In Charlotte on March 28, 2021 at 10:31 am

I am the man that found the location of where the treasure was supposed to be and e mailed him on the 6th of June with exact gps location, he then told the world someone had found it but no other info was available, I had found the location August 2018 but because nothing was there I kept looking. It was a hoax, I found every clue and hint and the secret that the numbers in ttotc actually confirmed the last 3 digits for lat/long of each hint. The last 3 digits for where the treasure was supposed to be ended with 423 and 328, His dads burial location and the number of missions he flew in Vietnam. 5 people died looking for the treasure and 350,000 spent millions looking and it was all a hoax. I do have the blaze in my possession. The treasure location where it was supposed to be was only 35 feet from where I parked and alot of people drove by it every day 40 to 50 feet from it. Pine Mountain, Wyoming

  19. Maps Maping on March 28, 2021 at 10:33 am

These pictures are fake. The gold plated on scale size in the box don’t match the ones on the table! Also Fenn’s hair is parted on the wrong side of his head!

  20. RAGE on March 28, 2021 at 10:33 am

It’s my belief that this treasure wasnt actually found, but Fenn simply claimed that someone found it to stop searches, for a few reasons.

    1. He’s getting old, and knew that nobody would find it before his death, leaving the treasure completely undiscovered and lost forever.

    2. Many people have died on this hunt, and simply wanted to stop receiving daily flak for it.

  21. Loyd Ingle on March 28, 2021 at 10:35 am

It has not been found, and I know exactly in Wyoming, where it is,but been to sick and broke to go get also it has one of FF bronze bells sitting on the top of it

  22. Wayne Halliday on March 28, 2021 at 10:35 am

Amazing how this old man lied all these years and 5 people died looking and now an “anonymous” person found the treasure. My god people are gullible!

  23. Duck on March 28, 2021 at 10:36 am

    This man was a legend

Spoiler alert: the treasure was in his backyard.

  26. Gerald on March 28, 2021 at 10:38 am

    One big hoax.

  27. rickiex on March 28, 2021 at 10:39 am

There was never any treasure, if you read his poem, it’s about his depression and loneliness and simply want people to go out and find the treasure so his name would be remembered. After 10 years, he’s had enough. He could show us the picture that the guy sent with the treasure without disclosure of the person or the location, but no.

  28. Kris 9mm on March 28, 2021 at 10:40 am

    It’s pure BS

  29. Lovely God Is My True North on March 28, 2021 at 10:40 am

I bet it was found at the base of half dome in a small inlet or cave like. Or it was near Old Faithful where warm waters halt. I am in my 40s and disabled or I would have gone to look for it.

  31. Myra Bae on March 28, 2021 at 10:44 am

    Where’s the emeralds LOL
Not worth it….. Forrest Fenn is a shifty person who lied and wanted attention and book deals… that chest is not worth $20,000. He just gave it to some random guy before Forest died just to have his own closure!

  32. The Notorious N.O.E. on March 28, 2021 at 10:44 am

He doesn’t have to tell us who found it but at least tell us where it was hidden all this time

  33. mitch davidsavor on March 28, 2021 at 10:45 am

cmon .show us the pics.I smell BS..in situ in hand @t would have had some kind of camera with..I want pics of the exact finds in the exact spot..otherwise its 0 proof

  37. #QUEENofHEARTZ1973 HAAS on March 28, 2021 at 10:53 am

What every one sadly seems to forget/over look, is the reason Mr.Forest Fenn started this, his family was greedy, he didn’t want them to have it, he wanted families to be about more then money greedy & technology, he wanted families to bond to explore outdoors & spend time together having adventures, making memories, life too short for people to be fighting, & when people got careless & acting a fool, ppl got hurt, lost their lives, for what ? Greed ? Sad, Mr.Fenn prolly said it had been found because he didn’t want the little treasure to be the reason anyone else got hurt, too many people went looking in dangerous areas when they forget one thing, this man was 79 years old when he hid it, and the reason he transported it in 2 trips is cause of the weight, he was not about to climb up or climb down any where, the man was 79 & it took a lot out of him to hide it, & who knows maybe he never hid it maybe the clues of the poem was what Mr.Fenn considered to be some of GODS most beautiful natural beauty that the adventure of the places in the poem was like the old west, once so wild & free, now faded away like dusty old tumble weed here today gone tomorrow, with human beings no longer having a hunger for GODS great out doors, in today’s society, people either want to use it, abuse it, play it, sell it, staying in doors on technology rather then actually experiencing life in appreciation Rather then taking this planet for granted ….so I believe Mr. FENNS TREASURE BEING FOUND IS WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE PEOPLE WHO EXPLORED NATURE IN THE CLUES FOR GODS GREATEST BLESSING WAS THE AWWW HUMAN BEINGS FIND IN THE BEAUTY & CONTENTMENT OF THIS WORLD , shame on all you greedy people who are fighting over stupid $money$ ….it ain’t even worth losing YALLS humanity or self respect over this box , be good to one another, just because the idea that the box doesn’t exist, go have an adventure with your family but do it safely or do it with a tour guide , but just live laugh love camp out make memories spend time with your kids and family less times in crap that don’t matter money is not everything but the time you have with the ones you care about that’s priceless !!! Cause the next moment is not promised to anyone and you never know when their last day will be their last day !!! Appreciate before it’s too late …just saying GOD BLESS YOU ALL & GOD BLESS MR.FOREST FENN

I just came from watching unsolved mysteries. What if Shane and Ryan are the anonymous treasure hunt solvers.

  40. Edone Fleites on March 28, 2021 at 10:57 am

Forrest Fenn , is endangering the lives of people with this treasure hunt , wouldn’t it be better if he just found 10 family’s and divided the money between them . Poor american’s that need the money for their children as well . Instead it’s some type of game , possibly endangering people’s lives !

  41. William Lee on March 28, 2021 at 10:59 am

Fenn did something better than hide a treasure; he gave us a chance to explore and be in nature. I’d say that’s a treasure in itself (considering this past year of ungodly chaos).
