Exploring the Mountain Chief Mine – The Upper Workings (Part 1 of 2)
Exploring the Mountain Chief Mine – The Upper Workings (Part 1 of 2)
In this video, we find a 1920’s era mine located high up in the desert. This mine produced copper, silver, lead and zinc. Total production is unknown. The mine was worked on three main levels. The middle level is showcased in this video. The lower adit is shown in Part 2. The upper adit is very short and uninteresting.
The middle adit has many interesting artifacts including the remains of a hoist and an ore car. The mine has seemingly not seen much attention since closing.
In the next video, we explore the long lower crosscut and associated drifts. Part 2 will be released in one week!

great video to watch thanks
It’s called a mine entrance.
Nice SHTF place to go
Super cool vid! Like seeing the mine map, too!
Part 2 will be released next Monday! Also there will be only two parts (the title animation says 3 by mistake).
Did anyone else notice the eyes glowing in the upper shoot at 1:24?
Amazing! I love how you stop and let a slideshow of high res photographs play. Your narration is excellent also – not everyone knows what all this stuff is (me), so it really enhances the experience when it’s being explained as the film progresses. Thanks for sharing!
always appreciate how much time you allow to show the detail of hoists and other items of interest rather than just passing by them…..nice job…!!!!
Great job !! Very interesting old mine
Love the Intro Sound👍🏻
So we just gonna ignore the the glowing eyes in the cave and the beginning 1:20
It’s videos like yours here that solidify the importance of documenting these old beauties. So much history left lying in the dark underground from a time almost forgotten
Awesome mine shaft thing! ⛏💎
Hello Archeology groups
I like this video thank you
Just like a irl point and click mine level.
😊👍 i like journey .from solo indo.
Dude what is your camera??? It’s so good!!!
There is a voice that isn’t yours in your video. Almost gives off a gurgling sound.
1:22 WAT IS THAT
Shoots and ladders, sounds like a game!
Is that blue and green colored rock Turquoise ? If it was copper possible I don’t know really, also you mention is high up in the desert makes me thinks of Palm Springs love that area. But thats pretty much cover state east of CA were I currently live Utqh Nevada Arizona New Mexico and Colorado I guess would be all potentially high desert elevation wise. I was trying to think Wyoming South Dakota Idaho Im not real sure what if any heavy mining that historically happened to speak of. There must have been something th3 blaxk hills have Uranium I know yhat much. Best yellow wake on the planet like out natural gas is probably the cleanest on the planet and China Joe wqnts to shut it down shit if we use it it gets better byproduct in the atmosphere this is a scam the planet is under constant change and what they wont tell us is the truth, thats the "why" to that one, and the reason for these mines was for raw ore to process as much as possible, thats a pretty good size mine in a short amount of time it seems. IDK
what an idiot he did not bring a whip like Indiana Jones idiot what if a bolder chases after or a coal boulder you can take the rope swing out of the way like Tarzan what a noob explorer and if you dont know who Indiana jones is you deserve to get ran over by a boulder
Its crazy to think the only time light ever gets there is when people are exploring it.
13:27 … why is that chain swinging?🟥🟥🟥
am i the only one who saw that figure with glowing eye in the first adit
Did nobody else notice the winze for the big gas engine hoist was directly in front of it full of wood and debris?
Is there a way to get the ore car out of the mine? Not to be turned into furniture but to be used elsewhere.
It’s as if they just recently put their tools down and left. Eerie but fascinating.
Funny how accurate the minecart sound is in Minecraft after watching this 🙂
Awesome to watch thanks for showing us and stay safe mate
Thanks for the fantastic journey, and so very informative. Cheers from Australia.
Opening music Name please?

@Whoop!!
Yo wtf is that at 1:24 looks like demon eyes
Excellent photography. Glad there are people like you because I couldn’t do this. Yikers, you kidding me? not me.
ওয়াও
Very cool mine and great video, thanks!
Your stills are beautifully shot.
@1:22 Is that a friend of yours? Or wtf?
One horrible, albeit necessary way to earn a living!
I didn’t know you were with someone else at first and when you go into the tunnel at 1:20 I looks like a ghostyboi is at the entrance with glowing eyes 👻
You had eyes looking out at you freaky like in the beginning of this video when you were talking about the chief adit. 1:20
What is a oreshoot? Is it the wood over the roof of the mine to keep the roof to not collapse? 🤔🤔
My 2x grandfather I found his death certificate on Ancestry and it says he died due to a fall in a mine in 1908 in Pennsylvania. My Mom’s father, his father (my 1x great grandfather) he also worked in the coal mines in Pennsylvania for 44 years and some of his sons my great uncles were also miners. So to see these tours is really fascinating.
Glad there are people who do this kind of stuff so I can see it from the comfort of my own home lmao
I think you missed a raise at 5.00 with pipes running up, that aside it’s really cool so far👍
Most of these mine have open pit operations going on near them. You can only stope down much
