Exploring Abandoned Mines Near Hillsboro, New Mexico
In this adventure, we attempt to video survey some famous past gold producing abandoned mines near Hillsboro, New Mexico. Nature had other plans for us, as we were met with mud-coated floors and flooded mines. It was still a fun trip with old structures and mining equipment left for the ages.

Just seeing the ore car and man cage would make that trip worthwhile. You seldom see those. Ive only seen 1 mine car.
More on that, follow the links provided here for a look at what’s down the numerous shafts in the area. And be sure to say hi to my mother Arlene at the Hillsboro museum! http://www.blackrange.org/the-human-history-of-the/mining/the-mines-of-the-black/the-hillsboro-mining-distri/
Thanks for the video! I know exactly where those last two mines are. There was some work done there in the 80s; that last adit was definitely worked with rubber-tire equipment. There’s a pile of rubber-tire stuff over by Animas Peak that I considered buying, but it’s 95% cannibalized junk from the 60s.
Don’t be surprised if a few mines in that area are reopened if Copper Flats ever gets going. They’ll have a concentrator so shipping and selling ore won’t be an issue.
your lucky you didn’t find bears and rattlesnakes
TVR Exploring would go in it to the end..I’ve been out to Hillsboro a few times to do some Gold prospecting but it’s no fun going alone..anyone who wants to go let me know,I have a dry washer
At 9:40 you edited out a portion of the frame. Was that graffiti? Thanks.
I was raised in Hillsboro 😃
