In this episode, I explore many of Cerro Gordo’s abandoned mines! I went into dozens of old mines over the course of a few days and settled on one right up the hill from town to put a little lounge area in. It’s probably not safe enough for guests to visit, but it’s my own little getaway.

THANK YOU!
My name is Brent I purchased the former mining town of “Cerro Gordo” this past July 13th (Friday the 13th). Since the Coronavirus outbreak, I’ve moved from Austin, Texas up to the town and I’m living alone in this abandoned ghost town trying to make it into a place for more people to enjoy.
Sometimes it’s beautiful and amazing, sometimes it’s terrifying and the scariest thing I’ve ever done. I grew up in the flatlands of Florida, so this is all new territory for me.
The town was originally established in 1865 and by 1869 they were pulling 340 tons of bullion out of the mountain for Los Angeles.
The silver from Cerro Gordo was responsible for building Los Angeles. The prosperity of Cerro Gordo demanded a larger port city and pushed LA to develop quickly.
The Los Angeles News once wrote:
“What Los Angeles is, is mainly due to it. It is the silver cord that binds our present existence. Should it be uncomfortably severed, we would inevitably collapse.”
In total, there has been over $17,000,000 of minerals pulled from Cerro Gordo. Adjusted for inflation, that number is close to $500,000,000.
It’s been a wild ride so far owning a ‘ghost town’ and we’re having a lot of fun figuring out what to do with it.

Awesome your work, you need a trial motorcycle, with seat maybe 90’s something like Honda TLR 200 or a Scorpa 125, soft damping no bounce, can ride it with feet’s on the ground in high slopes, to travel through your paradise, I’ll go now in my classic trial motorcycle No. 70, all the Best
Great video. I wouldn’t be doing that coz I’m a bit long in the tooth and certainly not fit enough or I’d do my utmost to visit that place. Stay safe bud.
Ok, i am a 67 year old tiny woman that finds all of this totally amazing!!!
You sure that was a bobcat. It could be a coyotes.
Find any Ghost?
Best living room money can buy.
What a guy! I appreciate your humor.
You need safety cable
Hears grunt….What’s the f,,, was that. Let’s keep going. (You definitely need better boots for walking in the snow.)
Just add some lights.
When is the party. This place screams ghost town rave!
Man you need a Netflix documentary there…..
I just found this channel. This guy is nuts. I’m binge watching… Would love to visit.
Okay, wait a minute. You’re walking through snow without boots, or proper hiking shoes, number one, and two, HOW did you carry the furniture into the mine? You MUST’VE had help. Also, when you bought the town, it included contents of buildings (books, furniture, etc.)? Also, you’re INSANE, in the COOLEST way! I LOVE it!!!
You sir now have a TRUE MANCAVE!!
you should hide secret stashes of food, oxygen, toilet paper;) and other supplies down there for the apocalypse;)
Tie a rope on your waste so you can find your way back? I realize it might get tangled…
Tommy knockers lol
Here is a Tom Scott video about a battery that has lasted 176 years and counting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtQGYz4f3YQ
May be fun to find the theoretically longest shelf life battery you can get your hands on an wire up a LED in that lamp. Imagine a future explorer a century from now flipping a switch and having that light turn on.
Too all people in comments y’all would shit if he found some gold in those mines……btw awesome videos nevermind the haters:)p
Pls revisit the mine with the tracks and possible bobcat tracks with friends for a video once the snow thaws, super interested
Don’t you have proper boots? Have you considered a little drone with wheels to peek into these mines so you don’t meet a bobcat?
Is it possible there could still be silver or gold in those mines or caves? I would think if they started digging and finding silver in one spot its got to be all around in some way. Also, you arenso brave going in alone only because I would freak myself out lol
11:12 they used the flames of the colbolt lamps.
All you need now is a good woman who won’t steal your property 👍🇦🇺
Best intro yet🤣🤣
You should get an electric assist bicycle.
I want what you’re smokin’
So cool!
You should leave it as you found it!!
Crazy going through these videos, how far you’ve come in your adventures. Keep doing what you’re doing brother! Loving this content
There is that movie with Michael Douglas in death valley and he’s trying to kill his guide because he witnessed him shooting an old miner. The kid hides in the miners secret cave house. You could make something lile that if you find a good spot.
I like these vids except for the forced attempts at jump-scarish type stuff. The content is interesting enough on it’s own. Otherwise cool vid. Killer liminal space.
Dude, you need to be carrying a backpack with an emergency first aid kit , real lights not your phone light, flashlights headlamps some food emergency food, emergency shelter things like that if you’re going to go do this kind of stuff real, and get real hiking boots don’t be wearing trainers out there that’s crazy, wear some jeans or duck pants or something they can take some abuse, not sweats, etc. etc.
its 9:38 and im watching all 56 videos in order and am very excited to watch all of your vids
