Explore an 1870's Gold Mine, in Julian, California
The Eagle Mining Company Welcomes you to tour the mother lode of southern California.
EAGLE & HIGH PEAK MINES – JULIAN’S OLD 1870 HARD ROCK GOLD MINE.
Professional guided tours/Group Reservations/Group Rates.
OPERATING HOURS 10AM TO 3PM DAILY.
Driving Directions:
When entering Julian, continue towards the center of downtown, then turn up the hill at “C” Street. Go up the hill four blocks, where you will see the signs – turn left onto Old Miners Trail.
The mine has eleven levels (floors), with a vertical shaft which is over 400 feet deep. The tour takes about one hour, and goes deep into the mine. The inside of the mine has been kept as it was in it’s 1870’s appearance. Many of the original tools and equipment are on site. Quartz veins can be viewed in the walls of the tunnels, where gold was mined from. This is a very well informed staff, who give an informative and educational experience to be remembered always. I highly recommend visiting them!
Cost: $10 adults
$5 kids
Parking onsite.
(The small town of Julian is located about 50 miles northeast of San Diego, California.)
That tour guide is a cool guy. I’ve met him up there before. I think he’s the current owner of the mine. Very knowledgeable. It’s nice he keeps this mine up and running so that others can get a taste of what it was like to be a gold miner back in the day.
why dose when the kid talk the guy dosent realy care at all
There are other People on the Tour that Wants to HEAR the Guide Talking, Ether Teach you kids Not to Talk, Or Duct Tape ! I was on a Mine Tour with my kids, They wanted to hear, But three other Kids had the same Problem . I asked the Mother to Pay for us to take the Tour Over, or Use Duct Tape !! Very nice Tour after that !!
I was in Julian once, but never visited the gold mine, (fear of closed in places) great tour guide and really good educational info. thanks for sharing this video online!

Stephen Anderle is correct – there was another group on the sidelines waiting for a tour. Busy day, and the tour is well-worth the time.
Sorry i was just saying its kind of rude he could ask at least 3 or 2 questions would be ok
shut that kid up!!
Kids should have been left outside.
my modest memorial to miners everywhere, incl two poignant songs
A MEMORIAL TO ALL MINERS; song byAlex Hodgson
Jesse Ventura will do anything for a dollar…
I’ve been there a few years ago
He’s giving a tour, and probably has several more tours waiting. How long would it take to answer a million questions?
God bless you
