The background music was very moving.  Does anybody know what particular piece it is and by whom?

  2. William Johnson on February 26, 2022 at 7:47 am

I loved this wonderful tribute to Robin Williams, Dave.  I saw Robin Williams at the Fox Theater in St. Louis.  He had the audience laughing all night.  He had a table beside him with a whole bunch of water bottles.  He kept drinking them as he cracked joke after joke. — Terri Johnson

  3. Chris on February 26, 2022 at 7:48 am

Nice tribute until you added the sentimental music. Why?

  4. Michelle Keaton on February 26, 2022 at 7:48 am

Wonderful tribute Letterman your friend would be proud.

  5. Malburg36 on February 26, 2022 at 7:53 am

I honestly thought Richard Pryor was Steve Harvey

  6. Elaine Julie Williams on February 26, 2022 at 7:54 am

Still makes me cry to see him.

  7. Rated R on February 26, 2022 at 7:58 am

Robin Williams was hilarious. I could have never guessed he would go out like that. I imagined he would be someone who lived to be 83 years old and still making people bust their sides laughing.

    great video at the end.

  9. LolSpecLol on February 26, 2022 at 8:00 am

To all the people hating on Dave, I’m not crazy about him myself, I find him boring and unfunny, but at least he’s not a total classless dickhead like Jay Leno.

I’m not one to advertise, but I uploaded a theoretical video about Robin Williams death/Suicide Note (Thoughts on the day) Please view it for an awakening on his last day on earth!

  13. orbison on February 26, 2022 at 8:04 am

I can imagine how much harder this was for Letterman since he has been a little open about his own struggles with depression.

  14. Bliss on February 26, 2022 at 8:07 am

What a beautiful man he was. God bless him. What a loss… he was so good to others, so generous and kind. Even after all these months, I still can’t get my mind around "WHY?" Good tribute David.

So glad yt had this one on my list of vids… so Sad that he didn’t find a way to overcome the hell he was living with. If only… ❤️

  16. frisco21 on February 26, 2022 at 8:07 am

We loved Robin.  We needed him.  How very sad that at the end of his life this magnificent man who brought laughter to millions died in isolation and pain.  It’s heartbreaking.

  17. Kelci Lane on February 26, 2022 at 8:08 am

He will be missed, this brought me to tears. He will live in our hearts forever. :,(

  20. AlekWheeler on February 26, 2022 at 8:11 am

Why is he not here still…
    Just…why…

  21. Jose Paulo King on February 26, 2022 at 8:11 am

Letterman was clearly holding back some genuine tears.
And, I think anyone who knew Williams would have been too.
He gave this world that which it could not give him.
    RIP for eternity, Robin.

I love Robin Williams. He has taken us all to many extremes of the emotional spectrum, along the ride that was his life. I will miss him, I will mourn him, and I will revisit his body of works to laugh with him often. He is immortal now.

  23. Phillips Mom on February 26, 2022 at 8:13 am

    OMG, I’m crying.
Hush up, you guys are too………..

  24. iAmDavid on February 26, 2022 at 8:15 am

i knew someone like Robin Williams who always hid his depression or dark secrets behind a mask(humor).

  25. bluesun2662 on February 26, 2022 at 8:17 am

The best tribute of this great man I have seen…

  26. LeFrogCatcher on February 26, 2022 at 8:17 am

That’s so weird, "I had no idea he was in such pain" + "my friend Robin Williams". How do you define friend, I s’pose…..

  27. Steffi Scholz on February 26, 2022 at 8:20 am

    i loved him. i’m so sad, i’m speechless. :'(

  28. dave houston on February 26, 2022 at 8:21 am

I always suspected Robin Williams of doing some serious drugs the way he acted.

  29. Michael Milsom on February 26, 2022 at 8:21 am

Ok..that made me cry..  such a beautiful spirit and so well eulogized in this by David. Rest in Peace Robin.

The three men in the photo shaped a lot of our lives with their humor. Thanks for the memories

  31. Vintage Vinny on February 26, 2022 at 8:22 am

Did anybody else click the video for the picture? David Letterman, Robin Williams, Steve Harvey. Steve Harvey has that creeper face in this pic, Sorry Harvey.

What the Dave-haters and Leno-lovers of the world fail to realize is that Dave is a genuine, sincere, and regular guy.  That hasn’t changed since the early 80s.  I like Leno and his Garage, but Dave *is* Mister Late Night.

  33. susanbeesweet2 on February 26, 2022 at 8:23 am

Good Lord! Does anyone have a single good thing to say about Robin Williams or does everyone feel the need to be harsh and unfeeling people? All I know is most of you people will be forgotten when you’re gone, and all you will have contributed to life is your legacy of negative internet comments. Congrats!

  34. Gina Greenlee on February 26, 2022 at 8:23 am

Quite a tribute. The slow- and stop-motion images of Robin Williams laughing hysterically are so poignant.

  35. Ryuobbi on February 26, 2022 at 8:24 am

10:00 You can see how nervous David was and was so hard for him to say those words . Man Robin was a such legend.

  36. pepela on February 26, 2022 at 8:26 am

Thanks Dave….we’re going to miss you.

    Nice tribute.

  38. Benjamin Vincent on February 26, 2022 at 8:29 am

Robin Williams was a gift to us from God, And I am so sure that God and Robin are laughing together in Heaven.  I thank God for such a gift as Robin, he made life seem so much fun. I will miss him.  David did a great job honoring this gift from God.

  39. Watchers1 Eyes on February 26, 2022 at 8:30 am

R I P robin thanks for the memories and smiles.

  40. Gurel on February 26, 2022 at 8:30 am

The last couple days I’ve been racking my brains wondering how could such a spiritual figure want to end his life. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, he was enormously respected and appreciated by his fans and collegues.
Believing every person on this world is there for a reason, he was here to light up people’s hearts and make their struggles in life a little easier to go through with the power of humour. He was here to make people happy.
It’s impossible for me to comprehend how this kind and loving man whose eyes sparkled every time he made someone laugh would be at such a severe level of frustration that he would give up the most precious thing that is given to a human ever – one’s own life. Knowing that a man, who is a symbol of happiness and spiritual upliftment, a man who has proven to know how to enjoy life at its finest, has done so, makes a small part of me die inside.

Sadly, I don’t believe such thing as the Afterlife exists, but I’m hoping that I’m wrong and that he is there right now, laughing in eternal peace.

  41. James Caldwell on February 26, 2022 at 8:31 am

What a wonderful, informal Eulogy, Dave.  Here we are in February of 2015, and I STILL miss Robin. If only I could have given him a 10th of what he’d given to me in making me laugh, smile and cry….

  42. Walter's Heart on February 26, 2022 at 8:31 am

It’s strange to be in a world where Robin Williams is not.

  43. coffeehigh420 on February 26, 2022 at 8:31 am

    Thanks for doing this, Dave.

  44. are Johnson on February 26, 2022 at 8:32 am

The BEST Robin Williams tribute out there.

  45. Rob Wilson on February 26, 2022 at 8:32 am

Wait a minute, this video wasn’t here when the YouTube channel launched. did you figure out how to go back in time?

  46. Ethan Weber on February 26, 2022 at 8:32 am

    Piano song name?

  47. kittysoy on February 26, 2022 at 8:34 am

I feel like David absolutely hates when the audience claps lol

  48. ericynot on February 26, 2022 at 8:36 am

Dave often talked about how Robin Williams helped Dave out long ago with a job on "Mork and Mindy". That small act clearly provided valuable support to Dave when he really needed it.

Don’t you wish, when Robin obviously was in trouble and needed help toward the end of his life, he’d reached out to Dave? None of us knows the inner dynamics of their relationship, but I feel sure Dave would have done anything he could for his long-time friend, and maybe, just maybe, Robin would still be with us.

  49. Shazam on February 26, 2022 at 8:38 am

Anyone know which episode it is at 8:30? Hilarious!

  50. Benjamin David on February 26, 2022 at 8:41 am

Death and Suicide is Tragedy. David unlike so many other acknowledgements shows some shock and feeling here – which is not his cup of tea. God Bless You.
