Crystals and Herkimer Type Diamond Hunting Near Payson Arizona

Crystals and Herkimer Type Diamond Hunting Near Payson Arizona

This is a fun video about looking for and finding crystals near Payson and Diamond Rim which is a public collecting spot. Digging is only allowed from October 1 to February 28 each year so we were surface hunting this trip. We will be going back in October though! There are few places in the world to dig this type of crystal and Payson Arizona is one of them.

You’re not real serious about gold as you are about enjoying your life. Makes you even better.

  3. Ma Wi on May 8, 2021 at 6:46 am

I’ve thought of going to the woods with an empty trailer bed just to bring trash back. That would make nugget shooting worthwhile. But nuggets are nicer.

Looks like fun, but I surely don’t understand the "digging season". I understand seasons for hunting, and in Alaska they have seasons for gold dredging to protect the salmon fisheries, but I don’t get it for digging crystals….

    Hell Bill,

It’s the same here go out in the woods and find loads of garbage and I remember when you never saw
that, people use to clean up and take it with them.

Nothing better than the sound of wind in the pines I replayed that part 5 times can’t believe the digging season after November you could hardy scratch the ground there with a backhoe it would be frozen solid not to mention having to possibly move snow first. For those that do go to dig don’t forget to bring a screen just like gold classification makes it easier great video and finds thx for sharing see you in the next one 👍🏻👊🏻

I can almost smell the Pines from here! Went out this morning just south of Mayer for about 4 hours 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the heat of the day pushed me out. No gold.

I live 30 minutes from the Herkimer diamond mine here in New York state where the name "Herkimer diamond" originated.
People say it’s a lot of fun doing it and it’s fairly cheap I’ve never tried it I’ve been wanting to get my wife to go and give it a try I think it might be fun! As much as I love finding gold here in New York state I’m not allowed to keep it belongs to the state! Don’t get me wrong I can find it but I have to turn it in to them! Millions and millions of acres of wilderness here in New York state with rivers everywhere to possibly find gold in but it’s hard to see the point in doing it.LOL
Love the look on Tammy’s face when she found that crystal! Made me excited just watching her! LOL

I keep thinking of the trash, it has to be a sin of the soul, not to respect the land. It is my Second or third time to watch the video, the song “How a Great thou art” keeps coming to mind.

  27. William Baker on May 8, 2021 at 7:27 am

Anytime you can get out and "scratch around" is still better than vegging out. Nice specimens.

Good to see you up in the shade my friend. On our "crown lands" the fines run from $500 to $10,000 and up for littering. Hard to enforce though as our bush roads are extensive and their manpower is already stretched. Those stones are amazing.Certainly worth the effort. It’s always a treat to see you two my FRIEND. Take care now eh !
