Colorado's Best Kept Colorful Secret! The Paint Mines
The Paint Miles 30 miles east of Colorado Springs is a state park that most Colorado residents have never heard of or visited and that’s a shame because it is a gem! Prehistoric Native Americans used clay from the park to paint pottery and for ceremonial purposes. The park is small (750 acres) and contains grassland, geological formations of hoodoos, colored clay and sandstone-capped spires.
Had fun, nice hike for all ages.
Going there tomorrow to do some plein air painting!
Looks cool, going there in April. Good music.
