Clues to a hidden treasure

Clues to a hidden treasure

Art collector Forrest Fenn, now 84, loves adventures, and so he hid a chest in the Rocky Mountains fit for a pirate, containing a treasure possibly worth millions. He’s inspired thousands to participate in a modern-day treasure hunt. For “Sunday Morning” Fenn reads his poem containing nine clues to the treasure’s location.

I’d never go anywhere with Tarry Scant, he won’t even help pay for gas.

Been brave, and are brave is completely different time, by saying been, he’s saying what the poem says is irrelevant. So being brave to receive title is unecesary. So we were brave before, but not when we are in the wood. And are we in the wood before too? It makes me sick that he never makes corrections.

Knowing it’s sitting out there right now… just waiting to be found. I keep imagining the moment of it’s discovery, found by some long-suffering searcher, maybe even myself. Just knowing it’s out there waiting for someone to find it, I wish I could walk out my front door and go directly to it. But after so many years, I don’t think it will be found soon

If you listen closely to the second sentence, take the first letter from each word and write it backwards you can clearly see that I don’t know what I’m talking about.

  7. MISSING 1000 YEARS on October 4, 2021 at 9:53 am

if you’ve been brave is incorrect, it’s are brave, thats a big difference. Its a specific location. Were you in the wood before, of are you in the wood, whether it’s a place or idea?…..crickets….

I am thinking this gold is stocked piled somewhere and the treasure hunt might be a notarized letter or ? that the finder takes to Forrest or his attorney for ownership.  Millions of dollars of gold would be approximately $20,000 per pound, so 55 lbs of gold to carry out?  mmmmmmmm.  Makes for a very lost man’s gold adventure for sure. Exciting!

This was one of my favorite interviews! He was more relaxed, like when you hang out with him in person. He had a very warm personality and was soooo patient at get togethers.

Anyone want to try and find the treasure with me?

  32. WyMustIGo on October 4, 2021 at 10:31 am

For those who might be new He reads the last two lines wrong. He says, "If you’ve been brave and in the wood I give you title to the gold." But the poem is "If you are brave and in the wood I give you title to the gold." So he messed up the tense.

  33. Greg Windell on October 4, 2021 at 10:31 am

It takes twenty seven minutes to walk to the treasure chest location from Hecla Junction boat ramp to the cave entrance Railroad Gulch valley.
Too far to walk for most people not that far for a few if you can brave the cold waters crossing of the Arkansas River in Colorado.

As I go alone in there alone Railroad Gulch valley in Colorado I read a Trout Unlimited article dated explaining that no one goes in there Railroad Gulch valley as I go in there alone

On some sites it’s not advisable to share your brain work worth of days and days at the computer on deciphering poem.
Fenn gave proper answer about "worthless" and "get in on an act". Trust him on that. Say, you palced some clues and they are never published. That means they were worthy of something and collected by site’s administration of whom you know nothing, (the invisible collector’s of your intellectual work). Why would they do their own work decoding poem if people voluntarely supply a sea of valuable information?
